In reply to: Locked out of site
Deactivate plugins manually by renaming the plugins folder in server
e.g. wp-content/plugins-xxx then after you access wp-admin, rename plugins-xxx back to plugins
I suggest activating BuddyPress first, then activate other plugins a batch at a time, looks like there are some plugins which need to be updated for latest BP/WP versions.
Also per error logs, you might need to increase memory https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/blank-pages/In reply to: 1.7 theme definedPlease do not ping core developers and moderators of this forum for this topic. You are free to download BP 1.7 trunk and check it out in a test installation:
svn co https://buddypress.svn.wordpress.org/trunk/
or get the zip file at the bottom of this page https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunkIn reply to: [Resolved] Pages are not showing up on my homepageHowever, when I click the “view” button, they redirect me to the homepage of my site.
That happens when you go to the Register page while you’re still logged in. And, you have a page template name Search specifically for searching the site?
Neither of the pages above show up on the left under links,
Not getting why the pages should show up on the left
I don’t have a forum page linked to the forum directory under buddy press pages
Did you activate Group Forums or are you referring to Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin required)?
I installed the plugin that is supposed to walk you through setting buddy press up with your existing theme.
I see that you are using Custom Community Theme.
1. You don’t need to install BP Template Pack with that theme.
2. Don’t know if that theme has been updated for BP 1.6.2 and WP 3.5
3. For testing and general set up, use the BP Default theme first. When everything’s working and in their places, you can choose another theme.In reply to: want to make compatible with bp my themeI know I helped someone with that theme sometime back. Hold on, will look for it.
In reply to: global.js 404 in javascript console@jeellison @migson add this to your theme’s stylesheet:
#whats-new-options {
height: 40px !important;
}In reply to: [Resolved] My Join Group button is acting funnyChecked on Windows7 using Safari and you’re right, when you click on the Join Group in the individual group’s page, the link doesn’t change to “Leave Group”. However, stay on the same page and click on a different item nav – Members – and you’ll see that “Leave Group” text appear. Same thing happens when you click on “Leave Group” link, text doesn’t change to “Join Group”. But go to another item nav page e.g. Forums and you’ll see notice that you’ve left the group and the text in link changed to “Join Group”.
In reply to: [Resolved] My Join Group button is acting funnyChecked in FF 17 and IE 9, I was able to click Join Group and become a member via Group Directory or in the individual Group’s page
In reply to: 2 Separate Member Experiences, 1 Site??Last time I checked, Woo Canvas theme even with the BP Template Pack doesn’t work with BuddyPress… JS conflicts. Please check theme author’s forums if they have even resolved this issue.
Best way to test your BP install is to use the BP Default theme to check if everything — group creation, member registration etc — is in working order before using another theme.
Re S2Member plugin, have you searched or asked at the s2member plugin’s forums? I’ve seen some pointers there about limiting access there before.
In reply to: BP updated deleted my themesNo deletion of theme folders for any BP upgrade. Have you checked if the theme folders have indeed been deleted in wp-content/themes/ via FTP/FileManager/etc?
In reply to: [Resolved] Why no topics showing on home page?But are you suggesting that after using BP Template Pack once it is a good idea to turn it off and then re-up everything via FTP?
@bennygill No. Like I said above, do that “unless it was explicitly stated in your theme install instructions” because some BP-compatible themes do not require the BP Template Pack plugin anymore.
It looks like the developer has changed some configurations because the topic/forum category links go to 404 page. bbPress plugin is activated. At this point, can’t second-guess what the developer is doing. Since you hired the person, you should ask him/her what’s going on with the site.
In reply to: Groups: being set upGoing back to your first post, anyone who creates a group is the admin of the group by default (no plugin needed) so therefore has admin rights including setting privacy level to uploading avatars and promoting member/s of the group as co-admin or moderator/s among others. You should answer questions posted above, otherwise flying blind here.
In reply to: Groups: being set upWP/BP verseions? What theme are you using? For search, use Google in the meantime.
@buddies I presume you’re referring to the Pinboard theme from WP Theme Repo? Please start a new topic for that theme.
@rossagrant theme authors should add $content_width – it’s a constant used to set the maximum width of embedded content like videos. It’s a standard part of just about any well-coded theme like those in WP theme repo per requirement https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Review#Required_Hooks_and_Navigation
Add the following at the top of your theme’s functions.php file
/**
* Sets up the content width value based on the theme's design and stylesheet.
*/
if ( ! isset( $content_width ) )
$content_width = 600;Measurement is in pixels. Change 600 as needed.
In reply to: [Resolved] HELP: Forums page redirects to homeClosing this as matter is resolved. Continue discussion of new issue in the link provided.
In reply to: [Resolved] Why no topics showing on home page?Please do not bump your posts.
You’re already using what’s supposedly a BP-compatible theme, skematik, so I would presume that you do not need to install the BP Template Pack plugin anymore unless it was explicitly stated in your theme install instructions. If so, deactivate the BP Template Pack plugin and re-upload your skematik theme via FTP/cpanel/etc to make sure that the theme’s customized BP template files are clean.
http://thecashlab.com/community/ looks more like the BP Group Forums OR you have created a front page community and added the shortcode for the forum topics there. http://thecashlab.com/discussion/forum/make-money-online/ is a category of http://thecashlab.com/discussion/forum/ of your Sitewide Forums. More information about your installation would help us help you.
In reply to: want to make compatible with bp my theme@aijazsiddique barring any unforseen JS conflicts, we can certainly try to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress. If you’re not launching anytime soon, I would suggest waiting for BP 1.7 coming out later this year or sometime next year. If you are launching soon, then let’s get going with the process. I also will need the codes for header.php, sidebar.php, index.php and footer.php posted in respective pastebin.com pages posted here to start off.
In reply to: BuddyPress and the Mingle ThemeProbably JS conflict. You should contact the theme author about this issue or check in theme author’s forums whether other users have experienced the same and what the resolution/s would be.
As modemlooper mentioned above, there is no plugin ala BP component plugin created for recipe posting at this time. There are work-arounds if you’re up to getting your hands into some minor coding.
#1. You could use any WP theme and install BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility and go through the process of of adjusting HTML structure if needed.
#2. You could install http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-simple-front-end-post/ and add fields as needed then style the custom recipe post form OR create a custom post type (recipes) and create form for front end posting or just allow the members to post the usual way via wp-admin/dashboard.
In reply to: Only some forums visibleDepends. You might have set some groups to public and thus have public forums while you set up the others as private groups which then have respective private forums.
In reply to: Host Images on a different siteIt depends on the album/gallery plugin you’d be using for your installation. Each could/would have a different method for working with CDN.
In reply to: want to make compatible with bp my theme@aijazsiddique It would help to see the whole picture so to speak. Code looks familiar. We might have template-packed that theme you’re using. What’s the name of the theme? Theme demo url?
In reply to: Separate Login /Registration@bhupendra13 You can use https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-menu/ to add dynamic links to individual logged-in member’s profile pages
or
You can filter the custom menu to insert link/s reserved for logged-in users only. Somethingl like
add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'my_nav_menu_profile_link' );
function my_nav_menu_profile_link($menu) {
if (!is_user_logged_in())
return $menu;
else
$profilelink = '' . __('Visit your Awesome Profile') . '';
$menu = $menu . $profilelink;
return $menu;
}
