Thanks.In reply to: [Resolved] Set Buddypress Full-Width Pages?@kkradel In a nutshell, if your theme has a full-width template, open that file, copy all code, and paste into a new file, buddypress.php which you then upload to your theme folder in server. https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/theme-development/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/
@henrywright-1 I recall seeing that happen once with a BP Default child theme and the other time with a “BuddyPress-ready” theme. It was a JS issue and was fixed with a point upgrade. What theme are you using?
@ham-radio What theme are you using? Are/Were you using the BP Template Pack plugin before? If so, see https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/
In reply to: User avatars and gravatars broken link@profc first thing is upgrade to BP 1.7.1. Change to BP Default and see if issue is resolved – no black frame. Check if your preferred theme has been upgraded for BP 1.7+. Do also double-check that the plugins you’re using have been upgraded to latest BP version as well.
@kkradel add to your theme’s style.css file. Example in link assumes div surrounding the sidebar widgets is #sidebar https://buddypress.org/support/topic/css-matching-for-recent-active-member-widget/#post-162541
In reply to: Help request for a Newbie@rdurham starting off with https://codex.buddypress.org/user/before-installing/
then check out links in the right sidebar on that same pageIn reply to: How would i put blog post option in profileIn reply to: [Resolved] Login Widget: What's wrong with my code?@kkradel Cool. Marking this issue as resolved.
@henrywright-1 I’ve seen this issue in old old BP version. Do provide information about your WP/BP versions, theme used, plugins installed, etc. https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/
In reply to: [Resolved] Not able to get 'Create Group button'@hallsy @akukskuks Normally, the “Create Group” and “Create Blog” (for multisite) buttons show up beside the Group/Blog Directory Title. The buttons do not show up if the_title(); tag in your theme’s page.php was placed outside of the WordPress loop.
There are different ways to address this issue. One way is to create the link for logged in users. For example, your WP/BP is installed in domain root, http://example.com, then the link t create a group would be http://example.com/groups/create/ by default.
In reply to: [Resolved] Login Widget: What's wrong with my code?In reply to: Installing and setting up Buddypress@jskehill the issue with some premium WP themes are that the theme authors create proprietary templating systems. The page.php of the theme should have the_title() and the_content() within the WordPress Loop for automatic BuddyPress Theme Compat to work. If those are not there, a Theme Compat solution would be to copy your theme’s page.php file and SAVE AS > buddypress.php then ask Theme Dev for assistance in replacing proprietary title/content tags intp WP’s the_title() and the_content() tags in that buddypress.php file. Then upload the revised buddypress.php file in your theme’s folder in server.
In reply to: Upgrade or new installation@lottiejam you should just upgrade.
In reply to: [Resolved] How do I make a sticky wall update?@imath @chouf1 Merci!
Will check it out tonight 😉Should I have real pages named after these slugs or not?
@anton-naydenoff you create only one page for the Archive Slug per A.3 and B.3 in the link I gave and add the forum shortcode. The inside forum pages will be automatically generated. If you want your Sitewide Forums link to be e.g. Discussions, then you should make your Archive Slug -> discussions
Group Forums Parent: [[group-forums]] is the parent for all group forums. …. Is this correct or not?
Not sure what you mean. First of all, you wouldn’t have been able to select Group Forums page as the parent for all group forums if you didn’t create the page.
@anton-naydenoff installing group and/sitewide forums with BuddyPress – https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
As for possible conflicts with BP Group Hierarchy plugin, I haven’t used the plugin so maybe someone else can chime in or you might want to check it out yourself and post your findings here.
@thatmtnman Where are you hosted? Are you on a shared server? Have you contacted webhost tech support about this issue?
In reply to: Idea about new pluginYou can either update a plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-posts-on-profile/ or use this plugin http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddyblog-allow-users-to-blog-from-their-buddypress-profile/
In reply to: BuddyPress double posts@briffel there are no groups on that page.
In reply to: Posts and comments in activity: a confused work@ggsalas to prevent confusion, go to Settings > BuddyPress > Settings -> Activity Settings and make sure that “Allow activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts” is unchecked. That way, if someone wants to read/comment, they either go to the forum topic or the blog post page.
In reply to: [Resolved] Right China@blackmatarsak add the following to your child theme’s stylesheet
ul.item-list li div.action {
position: absolute;
left: 0;
text-align: left;
top: 15px;
}Now after moving I am getting 404 errors, but more importantly, my paths are being shown as “weburl.weburl/members/” instead of “weburl/members/”. I simply did the find and replace on all the database before I moved it over to the server.
@steve_macneil something obviously went awry with your migration from dev to production site. Backup your dev database first and try this https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/ required PHP 5.3 or higher
