In reply to: Work.
This is a volunteer only operation, theres a jobs board to post invites.
Maybe you should check my site BuddyPressUser dot com, I wrote a lot of articles aimed at the begineer, that should be of help.
I’m not sure what setup you have got but if you set it up running the 2017 theme, only BuddyPress running, do you still not see those extra fields?
In reply to: Mobile activity menuFirst thing I’d check is if you are running a separate mobile theme, which could be configured to use a different activity page. If that were the case then it’s likely that theres an overloaded activity theme file in the child-themes/buddypress directory. It’s also possible to write a plugin to do the same though – serve a different set of options to mobile pages.
In reply to: Work.Any fields you enter in the Base field group should be displayed on the right hand side of the registration form under the Name field automatically.
In reply to: No more comments on group posts !I’ve just raised a ticket about not being able to comment on activity items in the group activity page: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7854#ticket
IF you switch to BP Nouveau in
settings>>BuddyPress>>Optionsyou will get a BP Nouveau item in the customize options list.In reply to: Mobile activity menuHi there, some things to check:
wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php - general bp customisations wp-content/themes/your-child-theme/functions.php - general wp customisations wp-content/your-child-theme/buddypress/activity etc. bp page overloadsThose three files/locations are where most customisations will be done, but they could also be done via plugins so you should check what you have loaded as well.
In reply to: Comment Button and Reply Not showingI’ve raised a ticket for this: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7854#ticket
In reply to: buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-typeI’m thinking that BP actually does not provide the activation email, it’s a WordPress email, which would explain why it’s not counted in the BP email set. A handy tip when troubleshooting it is to deactivate BP and see if it’s getting sent, then you can isolate BP from the issue.
I guess the answer is to try saying it differently in the post, not sure why that would happen
In reply to: Work. Not sure what you mean about working without user frontend, it certainly works without Ultimate Member.
In reply to: users ages pluginI’ve not seen one. There’s a couple of Birthdays widgets that show upcoming birthdays on the front end. There’s also some plugins that allow you to display widgets in the dashboard so technically you could fork something together with those.
In reply to: Login page redirects user to the dashboard of WPThere’s quite a few different ways a redirect can be put in place. If you did not specifically set it up that I’d be thinking this must a side-effect of a plugin. Maybe you could deactivate all plugins apart from BuddyPress and see if the redirect is removed?
In reply to: Setting up Login pageHi Glenn,
(a) There are a number of plugins that allow you to customise the WordPress Login page. https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-login/
(b) No I don’t think so, this is indicating that Incognito is redirecting login.php to another page.
(c) There’s a number of plugins that will allow you to put the login form into a widget for example, you could use one of these to put the login form on any page you like. https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/login-widget/
2. Maybe you could try: https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirect-after-login/
3. There’s a number of BP privacy plugins, they tend to work in different ways so it’s really a case of checking out a few to see if they deliver what you need. I personally tend to use a modified version of BP Members Only. I modified it so that posts are not private.
In reply to: New Update – White ScreenIf you get a whitescreen, you should turn on the debud display in WordPress, that will give you an indication of what the problem is:
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullYes, with xProfile once you have configured the field from the plugin, BP remembers those settings so you no longer need the plugin, however you’d need it to add new fields supported by the plugin. I’ve put in a request to include this plugins features in BP core, if that happens you should get the ongoing support that is required.
I guess regarding your backup issue the next step is to check with that plugins support pages and report the issue there. WP also updated at the same time as BP so it’s not inconceivable that the error stems from that.
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullI think the next thing to do is to deactivate BP then run your backup, see if that fixes it. Then we will know for sure.
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullAh ok, but you think this is related to BuddyPress?
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullI don’t think the changes I’ve made could have caused that, I only updated the version checking which is internal to the plugin and not referenced by other, and I didn’t change any data that was being recorded in the database. If you deactivate xprofile custom fields, does the problem go away?
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullIt’s not possible, it’s been closed for security reasons, we can only summise that it’s got an issue that the original author can’t or won’t fix. It’s possible that someone could make a fork of it but the problem is WP would not let them inform the installed base.
In reply to: ERROR: Call to a member function close() on nullWhich file and line number is the error showing from?
Would you mind raising this on Trac @gcmaryland ? do you have an example plugin as I’ve just checked one of my sites that uses group meta and it’s still working. is this for bp-legacy or bp-nouveau?
hmm, with the recent changes in WP it’s not that straightforward. You’d need to download the files from the BP SVN here https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/buddypress/tags/2.9.4/ and for that you would need an SVN browser such as tortoise SVN. One you had the files you would also need FTP access to your site, to rename the current BP directory in plugins to something else (buddypress-3.0 for example) and then copy the 2.9.4 files into a new buddypress directory. then you could test it.
I’ve updated my sites and can see all group activity no problem so this is likely to be something unique to your site. It’s not a trivial task but did you try temporarily reinstalling the previous version of BP just to make sure it’s definitely something triggered by the upgrade?
You should raise this on BuddyPrss Trac as a bug.
Yep
@mentionsis a part of the Activity Streams component so turning this off will also remove the@usernamesince this can no longer be used. You could always overload the members profile header page you are using and add the username back in, however what good would that do since that username is only used in activity feed `@mentions’ it’s the wp username, not the BP displayname. So I guess it really depends on what you are aiming for.
