It’s doable to a certain extent, you’d need to overload the members loop and exclude admin from the loop, also overload the members profile template to redirect other members trying to view the admin user’s profile.

Take a look at BP Template Overloader, it creates a list of the files you can overload, and it can set up the overload file automatically for you. It will allow you to view the source files direct and let you plan your modifications. That’s the first step.

I think the issue here is that there’s not only single pace you can go to change all these aspects of the site, but certainly the custom MO route should allow you to change a lot of them.

Can I just check, how many times did you replace ‘friends’ in the custom MO file? It’s must have been quite a few times.

I’d not recommend editing the core files, they’d be over-written with the next update, also friends appears in a lot of places and in a lot of contexts, I’d not recommend changing that unless you really knew what you were doing and were creating a new fork of BuddyPress. I’d certainly not be able to tell you that.

    1. take a look at this page, it shows the general principles https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/ also you can look at the BP Template Overloader plugin, it’s designed to make this process more accessible.

Basically you create a buddypress directory in your child theme directory and replicate the directory path to the buddypress/members/register.php file.

Regarding 2, how did you do that? I’ve not got it as an option, I’m aware there’s plugin that added a TOS checkbox, not seen it done directly from the xProfile fields.

But if you did add it as a xProfile field, BP will by default show it in the profile page if the user has set it to publicly visible.

you might like to check out that plugin, I don’t think it uses xProfile fields: BuddyPress Simple Terms And Conditions

I’ve just tested this on a new site and the description is not duplicating. Could it be your theme?

The first thing you need to do is confirm it’s an issue with BP by deactivating your other plugins and see if it still happens. if it does, report it as an issue on BuddyPress Trac.

    1. One way to achieve this would be to overload the BuddyPress register page and replace the current section that adds the username with code that populates this field from the username field.

    2. Not sure about that one, I take it this is being added by a plugin? if it’s creating an xprofile field then by default it will show up in profile, unless set to not be shown by the user. There’s a couple of options I think, either add some code to force this to not be displayed or else overload the profile page and set it up to display the profile fields you want to display.

From my experience the activity will display an excerpt of the content plus either the first image in the post or the featured image, with the featured image taking precedence.

There must have been some plugin blocking this which stopped doing so I reckon.

If you do not select a featured image and the video is first in the post it should display the video. Not the answer you are looking for but I’m not aware of any simple way of changing this functionality.

Not sure how that happened, I thought I was replying to a different post!

Did you try unloading your other plugins?

I think the first thing to do is to check there’s nothing interfering with the loading of the translation – unload all of your plugins except BP and Custom MO. Also try it running the 2017 theme.

The first question to ask is if you logged out before trying to view them?

    You’d need to ask BuddyBoss

What you need to do is get FTP access to your wp-content/plugins directory and manually delete the buddypress directory, for some reason the directory has not been deleted when it’s been uninstalled in the past.

I think you should raise this as a bug on trac.

That function resides in the bp-templates/bp-nouveau/includes/xprofile/template-tags.php file.

You could check it’s there? otherwise I don’t suppose you are doing something fancy with template overloads that might stop that file from being loaded?

Fixed, thanks for pointing that out.

This is not a feature of BuddyPress, there must be something in your setup that is requiring this, in other words you must have specific code that is requiring this as far as I’m aware.

Have you found my site – BuddyPress User? I designed it to answer a lot of the questions you have. Look it up!

You would install bbPress and add a page called forums, the sitewide forums would appear their, to add group forums you would go to Dashboard>>Settings>>Forums and enable group forums.

One decision is if you want the group forums to appear in the forums list on the forums page. How I’ve described will do that. To keep them separate you would assign them a different root forum.

The forum is supplied by bbPress, with it you can provide group specific and sitewide forums.

Yes BuddyPress allows you to create extra fields for the registration form, there are also a number of plugins that extend the types of fields available.

Regarding user blogs, there are a number of options available but these tend to exist outside of BuddyPress – ie, assign a member an author role and they will be able to create blogs.

You could try Mediapress, it has a lot of different options for setting up galleries for documents and media files.

You can create them yourself, did you try that?

    @venutius

Mind, one possibility is to overload the page template for the users profile page and remove the call that displays the additional xProfile fields. But that would remove all of them, not just those added by S2 Member.

I think this is a question for the S2 development team.
