In reply to: Members Page Will Not Associate with Buddypress
Try associating the members page with a different page, does that work?
In reply to: Private Message link to recent? Like FB!?One option could be to use BP Better Messages? Did you look at that?
In reply to: Not able to activate userDoes your install behave like this with the other plugins deactivated and when running the 2017 theme?
In reply to: Registration for Users with BuddypressYep BuddyPress has it’s own registration page, it ususally automatically creates it – register though in reality buddypress does not use this pages content and just uses the pages slug as an anchor. You can go to Dashboard>>Users>>Profile Fields to add additional profile fields to the register page, you just add them to the Main field group. These are added to the right side of the registration page in the same order as viewed in the main profile group page.
In reply to: Registration for Users with BuddypressYes that’s what I’m saying, trying to view the page when you are logged in won’t work, try logging out and viewing it.
In reply to: Registration for Users with BuddypressSorry I thought you were testing the registration page from the front end. So you are saying that clicking on edit the registration page redirects you to the homepage?
In reply to: php warning: bp-activity-functionHave you deactivated your other plugins and switched to 2017 to confirm it’s not a conflict?
In reply to: Registration for Users with BuddypressIf clicking on the page redirects to the homepage it’s working fine, you just have not logged out 🙂
In reply to: Select box value pairsI don’t think they work that way, I also looked at BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Fields but that did not allow for that, just a single field to enter the value. You might want to suggest it as a feature request on BuddyPress Trac:
In reply to: Not able to activate userYou need to take it to a baseline – rule out all external factors – does it still do that with no other plugins loaded and 2017 as the theme?
In reply to: Filter Out “New Blog Posts”You should be able to over-load the Activity-Loop so that it does not show new posts:
In reply to: Searching within a PRIVATE Group ForumHi there,
Are you searching as a none-member of the group using the search bar of the forums page?
That’s what I just tried and I could not see the content of hidden forums.
In reply to: Cannot update cover imageThat’s interesting,
I’ve just been able change the cover image on a test server running 2.9.3, could your issue be browser specific or something? I tried with both Firefox and Chrome.
In reply to: Activity Stream Visible to AllYou can use one of the BuddyPress privacy plugins to set aspects of your site as private and visible only to logged in users. For example it’s a feature of BuddyPress Registration Options or BuddyPress Simple Privacy, or BuddyPress Members Only.
In reply to: Alternative to XprofileBuddyPress has not been abandoned. It’s alive and kicking.
In reply to: admin change user profile photo? So you can lol!
In reply to: Password synch on registrationI think the first thing to do is to rule out a plugin conflict, there’s definitely something not working, something interfering with the registration process. S you need to test this with just BuddyPress loaded and a standard theme like 2017.
In reply to: admin change user profile photo? There’s no plugin that allows you to do that, but if you’ve got FTP access to your WordPress directories, it’s actually quite a simple task.
Firstly you need to find out the numeric user id for the person whose profile image you wish to change. I just looked them up in the bp_xprofile_data table using phpAdmin. however if that’s over your head you can go to Dashboard>>Users>>All Users and waive your mouse over that user, you will see the user id in the link address to edit that user, it will be something like …user-edit.php?user_id=17….
Once you have the user id, go to the wp-content/uploads/avatars directory. If the user already has a profile image there will be a directory with the same number as that user id, if they don’t you can create one.
Look inside the directories for one of the other users. Inside there you will find two files – ……bpfull.jpg and …….bpthumb.jpg. Download and find the size of these files, then you can create your new profile images, name them something similar (with the same length random string at the front, starting with a number, and that should be it.
Sorry I don’t have a really simple answer.
In reply to: Mail activation BudypressAnother potential pitfall comes from using the default wp email address, some mail providers seem to be blocking these emails, you can get a plugin to change this default address CB Change Mail Sender is one.
In reply to: Buddypress + TelegramThere’s no plugins that do that as far as I’m aware and I’ve reviewed most of the free BP plugins.
In reply to: I’m confused about template packsI the next release or so the BuddyPress team are planning to launch a new bp theme – nouveau –
In reply to: genders of the usersShould be in the bp_xprofile_data table.
In reply to: genders of the usersDid you add a gender field?
What does the error log look like with only BuddyPress active and with the 2017 theme?
I think the easy way to do this would be to make the groups private
