“Delete the default theme from your themes directory and then rename the folder with your theme to ‘default’. “

You also have to rename the theme at the top of the stylesheet, and you *should* delete the home.php in the copy of the theme just for blogs.

I know a bunch of us have done this already – someone needs to go dump them in the repo.
