One example is if I’m trying to make a group, I start out at
http://website.com/groups/
and then I click “Create a Group”, which links me to
http://website.com/groups/create/
which is a 404. But that instantly redirects me to
http://website.com/groups/create/step/group-details/
which is fine.

So the 404 only pops up for a second, but it’s still annoying me.
