    I’m still having the same problem. The page load bar shows about half way but it never loads.

    Wow, I sure hope this project didn’t die as it’s really impressive. Just bumping up to see if there are any further updates on this plugin. I had not seen any updates on the ywamcloud site, so figured i would ask here. Sure hope all is well with Mariusooms.

    What would be really amazing is if it gets extended so that a user could pay to access multiple groups, one at a time.

    We hold conferences, where when it’s finished there are handouts, video’s, audio files, etc. A person registers for the conference, they gain access to the group so they have access to the docs.

    Then down the road they register for another conference, and gain access to that group as well.

    I’ve been playing with the 4 level system, but so far have not figured out how to do the part above. I’m pretty sure that it’s already possible or will be someday.

    S2Member is a fantastic plugin

    Thank you for the info.

    In our case, yes we would want all the updates from facebook to post to the blog.

    We have a number of missionaries around the world who post to facebook. I was thinking of creating a subdomain blog for each missionary. That way when they post to facebook it would automatically show up on their blog.

    Now a normal person would say, ‘why not just post the blog article and have it pushed to facebook’?

    Well, say I have 20 church websites that all support the same missionary. Instead of him having to post to all 20 church blogs, he could post to facebook, and I could have all 20 blogs auto updated for him.

    Obviously this is a very specific example, but it would work the same for many concepts.

    anyhow, I had not even thought of a wordpress app for facebook. I’ll go dig around and find me one.

    thanks again

    This is going to sound really nuts, but it works for me.

    I start by adding a file to my theme with the following:

    /*
    Template Name: Page-Redirect
    */

    if (function_exists('have_posts') && have_posts())
    {
    while (have_posts())
    {

    // get the post
    the_post();

    // get content
    ob_start();
    the_content();
    $contents = ob_get_contents();
    ob_end_clean();

    // correctly build the link

    // grab the 'naked' link
    $link = trim(strip_tags($contents));

    // work out
    if(! preg_match('%^http://%', $link))
    {
    $host = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];
    $dir = dirname($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']);
    $link = "http://$host$dir/$link";
    }

    // navigate to the link
    header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
    header("Location: $link");
    exit;

    }

    }

    All I have to do then is create a new page, assign the Page-Redirect template to the page and the magic works by simply adding a url to the content area.

    What it gives me is a page that when accessed immediately redirects to whatever link you put in the content. ‘you do not need http stuff just the path to the page like — groups/

    Because it’s a true wp page, now you can select that page in your settings for the homepage.

    like I said, very hacky but it works for now. Hope it helps

    Wow the enable root profiles is exactly what I was searching for. Thank you

    I”m curious if there is any logic built in for checking usernames against existing directories to avoid conflicts.

    Say I have a directory called /photos/ and if a member tries to register with the username photos would that stop him from registering the name to avoid the conflicts?

    also, does it effect the template structure when i use that override?

    I’m so glad to hear that there will be a special area for this. DJPaul is correct, the job board on testbp is useless.

    I can’t count how many times I’ve needed just a few lines of code, you know those <$100 projects and it would be so nice to have an area to post a request in so that I could find coders who also do very small jobs.

    Maybe even having an ‘I’m available’ area would be great. We all know who the masters are around here, and if one of them popped up and said I have the afternoon avail.. who needs me for a few mins etc.. that would go a long way.

    I ran into this problem of not being able to create groups with another plugin ‘connections’. I will be very curious to hear what you find is the problem with facestream as it may be the same problem I am trying to track down with the other plugin. So please, when you find the issue, can you post what the fix was so that I may have some direction on fixing the other plugin?

    @anointed

    I had the exact same problem and it turned out to be a plugin called connections that I was running. I’ve spent days on it, but so far no solution.

    If your not running connections, start by deactivating all plugins and turning on default theme, then try to create a group.

    Thank you, that was exactly what I was after. Never even thought to look in the plugins file.

    I kept trying /members/single/settings/ where I was creating the settings dir, but it never did take control. Seems that the plugins file is one of the only ones that does not follow the theme url structure. At least now I know and my template is now complete.

    Here’s one most of us all wish were true:

    Plenta™ (128 fl oz) and Micra™ (2 fl oz) cups arrive in Starbucks stores this Fall. Derived from Italian word for plentiful or small, the Plenta™ delivers coffee lovers record amounts of the world’s finest coffee beverages while the Micra™ delivers a quick and satisfying morsel of goodness.

    You are correct, it does display in the order created. Would still like the ability to reorder someday if it’s possible.

    Can I request the ability to stick a specific forum category at the top of the category listings in your plugin?

    Right now, when a new post is added to a category, that category is bumped to the top on the forum homepage listing. I would much prefer they were organized via name with the ability to stick a category. This makes it much easier for returning people to find the category they are after, especially with forums that have hundreds of categories.

    I actually like how the forum index page shows the newest posts on top, that is cool. I just don’t want the category listings doing the same thing is all. anyhow.. just a suggestion

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/ is almost the pefect tool for this. It doesn’t allow you to choose which ones to bring in, it brings them all in.

    I found one glaring problem though and it has to do with images in posts from other blogs. Basically when a post is made on another blog, it seems that it is automatically copied behind the scenes to the primary blog, only the title will link back to the original blog.

    The problem with images, is that when wordpress gallery inserts images into a post, it uses a relative path and that is what is saved. Because that is what is brought over to the original blog, when the loop tries to display the image, it has no way of knowing what the blog id# of the image truly is.

    example: http://uwcmi.org/site-blog/

    the 4th article down is ‘welcome to the support blog, if you click the title, notice it takes you to another domain. I did nothing to make this happen, it is all automated. When I created the post on the other blog, it was automatically added to my primary buddypress site blog.

    If I could find a way around the image problem, then at least for me it’s the perfect solution to what your asking for

    oh yeah, has the same duplicate activity problem as other plugins mentioned above. solution to that lies in http://teleogistic.net/2009/12/streamlining-group-blogs/#comment-7023

    Is it possible to apply this plugin to only one specific groups forum posts?

    I know the id of the group as it’s already created.

    I have no idea why, but when I activate this plugin, I do not get a configuration link in my admin. Plugin says it’s activated site wide properly.. strange

    I absolutely love the members plugin from Justin. It could potentially be the perfect solution to this problem. I also run communities of 50k-200k members, and have hundreds of moderators. The idea of giving any of them admin access is a non-starter for me. That is the primary reason I have not switched those sites from vb to wp yet.

    As to per user group permissions for upload abilities and levels of storage etc, I wanted to give you a link of another plugin that may help

    http://www.primothemes.com/post/s2member-membership-plugin-with-paypal/

    So far it seems to be a pretty robust and amazing plugin. It would be nice to see it integrate with albums in the future. That would allow easy creation of user levels thus giving us the ability to control who can do what with albums and maybe even how much they can do.

    anyhow, just an idea.

    I do want to take a moment to thank you for such an awesome gallery plugin. I absolutely love it and really find myself looking forward to Mondays for the first time in a very long time. lol… luv them betas

    turns out it was a conflicting plugin called connections that I forgot to turn off during testing. Once I deactivated that plugin then all was well again.

    The really weird part is there are no errors in the server logs, so I am unsure of how to troubleshoot this compatibility issue. To bad, because connections is a nice plugin

    sorry about that.. i will keep new posts here from now on. I reported in the other thread that your workaround ‘kind of’ worked for now. At least I managed to get far enough to create the blogs that I need to get finished by this weekend for the church.

    thanks again.

    I do have to send a HUGE thank you though. Without this plugin, my entire concept for the current site would not really be possible. You have been a huge blessing.

    @anointed

    ok a few observations. In all steps below I do not create a group blog during the group creation as you requested.

    1. If I try to let the plugin create the blog, it gives me a white screen, clicking refresh on the screen then shows error that blog has been created.

    — I go into the db and sure enough it’s created

    — There seems to be no way of assigning the newly created blog to the group

    — I then simply delete the new blog from the database

    2. If I create a blog prior to creating the group, create the group, and then go back and try to assign a created blog to the group it does not work on the first try.

    — I then go back in and try it a few times again, and once in awhile it will kick in and accept it.

    Basically it took me 5 attempts to link one blog with a group, and then it took 4 attempts to do this the second time. In the end both worked out.

    There was no way I could let the plugin create the blog where it would work. It does indeed create the blog, but does not link it to the group. Only solution is to go into the admin and delete the newly created blog.

    I hope all this info helps troubleshoot things for you.

    same exact issue here. Same setup, in fact tried it on 4 complete virgin wp/bp installs today and all of them caused this error on trying to create/access a second group blog. It works for the first blog created, but none of the others work, they all produce this error.

    I can also report that there is no extra info in the db tables, they are clean. Zero clue where to go from here.
