BP Xtra Signup is listed as working on your spreadsheet. It doesn’t add a root page, so should work just fine for 1.5 as it does for 1.2.x. Problem is that it’s not working properly in a MS environment (and hasn’t been for a while now), as the options page doesn’t show. I know it’s easy to fix, but there never is enough time…
I’ll be testing it thoroughly sometime this week, but until then it might be best to set it to fail, so users don’t get confused. Cheers!
You can do that already. BBPress 2.0 is a plugin, so it integrates with your current WP user base. If you wanted to you could just deactivate groups altogether and then install BBP 2.0. There’d be no activity stream integration, though, and some other things like user profile links would need to get handled properly (BBP comes with its own user profile templates), but altogether it’s possible already.
I’m guessing all of this will be handled properly by BP once the move to use the plugin version has been made.
In reply to: How to use Group Extension APIWhy a new ticket? There’re all the actions you need to add new fields and save the data from these fields. Seems like that plugin might need some work. BP has all the necessary bits and pieces, though…
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 compatibility for plugins and themesNope, only the groups directory is a page, but not a single group. This topic is for compatibility issues, so please create your own topic if it’s not related. Cheers.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 compatibility for plugins and themesMapology and Buddyvents are compatible with BP 1.5 now.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 compatibility for plugins and themesMapology is in the works.
In reply to: Buddypress PrivacyWell, `bp_core_add_root_component()` is most likely responsible for creating the zillions of extra pages, so getting that sorted made my plugins work 70%, so it should be a good starting point…
In reply to: BP Xtra SignupDevelopment of BP Xtra Signup has slowed down to a (backwards) crawl right now. I won’t be able to get it updated until after September.
In reply to: BP 1.5 Group Extension APIHmm, this was not supposed to be a smiley. It should actually be an 8 followed by )…
In reply to: BP 1.5 Group Extension APIJust found something. Error/success messages do not show up. It’s got to do with the priority of the group extension hook (attached to bp_actions at a priority of
and the priority of the message output (attached to bp_actions at a priority of 10). So, the output of a given group extension happens before the error messages are displayed. In reply to: BP 1.5 Group Extension APISorry, group API does work. I was just me still checking if BP_GROUPS_SLUG was defined to check if the groups component was active. Fixed it.
In reply to: Buddyvents 2,0Now, I would be so happy if only I could edit my post
Obviously, it would be Buddyvents 2.0, rather than 2,0. Fro would be for and I would not be threatening anybody. One should not post threads if one is too tired to type, really…In reply to: Buddyvents 1.2.2@lucaweb
Sorry for the late reply. Been very busy lately and don’t have as much time as I’d like to check the forums here. The scubavagabonds link is basically just a pimped group, that uses the group extension quite a bit.
Right now, events can only have 1 category, but I will rewrite the plugin to use custom post types and then you can add as many categories or tags as you want. That will take a while longer though, maybe 3 months.
There’s been a couple sites that have used Buddyvents to show locations or trips, so with a little work it’s definitely possible.

You talking about ideals is quite funny, me thinks! In reply to: Suggestion for a BP friendly calendarYup, works with 3.1.1 and 1.2.8
In reply to: Suggestion for a BP friendly calendarThere’s my little plugin, Buddyvents:

Registering on our site is best for this kind of stuff:
http://shabushabu.eu/You will have access to parts of the support forums there, one of which is for feature requests. After you bought the plugin you will also get access to the Buddyvents support forum, where you can post specific requests.
In case you want to comission an add-on, it is best to contact me by email, which can be found here:

Thanks for your interest in Buddyvents!
We use PayPal as our payment gateway and the Euros will automatically be converted to US Dollars when you pay.
Something similar to the ZIP code search is already possible. Users can enter an address and specify a radius. Not sure how well this works with just the ZIP code, but you could try that before comissioning an add-on

Sorry, but we only answer support requests through our own forums at shabushabu.eu. Thanks! In reply to: WordPress 3.1@zkwc
Well, I get around 1 spam signup a week, if that. On any of my BP sites. For me, alphabetic ordering makes sense. And it would be for most WP sites (most of which aren’t BP enabled sites, btw). Obviously, WP development is separate from BP development, so changes made to WP might not make much sense for some BP users, but a lot of sense for the majority of WP users. Just some food for thought…I just upgraded 7 of my sites to WP 3.1 plus a few client ones and didn’t have any plugin problems at all. With the widespread adoption of WP it’s natural that some sites will experience problems, but don’t make this out to be an issue for everybody, when in fact it isn’t.
As for the network admin page, this way is more organized. Stay on the current blog admin page to handle everything to do with this particular blog, go to the network page for anything related to running the network, like sitewide enabled plugins. To me this makes sense…
In reply to: WordPress 3.1Plugin developers are able to test their code against the development version. How do you imagine a centralized test ground would look like?
Network admin is actually a really good thing. It moves everything to do with the multisite part of your installation onto a separate page. Less confusion, but I guess you can’t get it right for everyone.

No need for hanging your head anywhere
I still remember being really confused by all that filter-action-akadabra-hook-mumbo-jumbo. I’d been using it for a while knowing that it did the things I wanted without really understanding how it did it. Once you do understand it though, it opens up a lot of possibilities, especially when it comes to making your own themes/plugins pluggable.Actions basically add things like markup and/or server-side validation exactly at the point where the do_action calls appear, while filters let you modify/change existing data, like variables, objects or arrays whenever there is a apply_filters call…
