    Hi,

    try to add your po/mo files into wp-content/laguages/plugins/buddypress-user-blog/…mo, where /buddypress-user-blog should be the exact plugin name and …mo should be the right file name (something like abcd-en_UK.mo)

    Check the plugin doc for the correct directory name and the correct file name to use. As it is a premium plugin, it is not possible to give you more information for this as we have no access to the code.

    You might also ask for this on the plugin support.

    As site admin you can create new users and give same a low strength password. This is basic WP management. You already have a link for this part of the work.
    If you have “hundreds” of friends to add it is of course a bit different – meaning it will not be done in 5mn. But it is not to me to tell you how to do this and where to find any knowledge document to achieve it. Codex are made for this – but sorry, i can’t sytematically lead any question asked on this forum to the appropriate page. My brain is not a codex summary ! Hope you understand. πŸ˜‰

    You have to search on WP Codex and eventually on BP Codex. Essentially because of the phone number field, which is a custom field. You can do that with or without BP – and that’s why i said it’s not a BP question.

    If you want to take the BP route, you might check the code from BP Default Data, to understand how this plugin insert fake content to BuddyPress.

    Does the server has the minimum requirements to run WP and BP ?
    What about the htaccess file ? When you moved the site directory, have you regenerate this file ?

    Hi,

    this question is not related to BuddyPress.
    You have several options, from simple to overcomplicated.

    1) If you have only a few friends to add, you can do that manually from dashboard. You need also a phone field in xprofile.
    2) If you have hundreds, you need to write or generate a csv file and import them via phpmyadmin or any msql command line…

    All this is explained on WP Codex.

    Sorry for the outdated trick.
    bp_is_profile_edit is deprecated in favor of bp_is_user_profile_edit.

    Check for the outdated fn in the plugin mentionned in the error msg.
    In case of, here a tutorial with more options.

    – Single profile page. From show tab and from EDIT tab (see snippet)

    – From dashboard profile edit page: not possible – normally BP users shouldn’t have access to profile dashboard. They can manage their profile from front-end.

    – From custom profile fields. (see snippet)
    – From tabs every where. (see snippet)

    Almost any described areas, as example

    function bpfr_hide_profile_edit( $retval ) {
    	// remove field from edit tab
    	if(  bp_is_profile_edit() ) {
    		$retval['exclude_fields'] = '54'; // ID's separated by comma
    	}
    	// allow field on register page
    	if ( bp_is_register_page() ) {
    		$retval['include_fields'] = '54'; // ID's separated by comma
    		}

    	// hide the field on profile view tab
    	if ( $data = bp_get_profile_field_data( 'field=54' ) ) :
    		$retval['exclude_fields'] = '54'; // ID's separated by comma
    	endif;

    	return $retval;
    }
    add_filter( 'bp_after_has_profile_parse_args', 'bpfr_hide_profile_edit' );

    Yes. Anyway, best confirmation is to follow the instructions you received and to try them out !

    Hi,

    What have you installed or updated ? Please gives details about your config. WP – BP – BBP and MySql version. Also all your plugins list and theme name.

    dbDelta() is related to bpress

    Add the code to bp-custom.php

    Such snippet is usually working when added to bp-custom.php

    Hi,

    you have to debug this. Deactivate all plugins and custom code and test your install with WP+BP and a Twenty theme only.

    Once in this config, anything should work.
    Then you reactivate your plugins one by one and last test will be with your theme. Doing so should help you to isolate a culprit.

    @danbp

    Have you tried what’s explained for the second example ? Ie.:

    // remove field from edit tab
    if(  bp_is_user_profile_edit() ) {
       $retval['exclude_group'] = '1'; // ID's separated by comma
    }

    If not enough, you use CSS display:none; for the BASE markup on profile edit tab.

    Oooops, my mistake. What do you call “load newest” on SWA and members profiles ? I’m not aware of this feature !

    In reply to: Profile activity auto

    @danbp

    Participant

    Load more works perfectly with 2.7 and Twenty Sixteen.

    Try with that theme first, if it works you’ve found the culprit !
    If not, keep 2016 active and deactivate/reactivate one by one all plugins but BP until you isolate the origine of your issue.

    If you use custom code in theme or bp, remove or deactivate it provisory while testing.

    The snippets works as expected and show the counters to LOGGED-IN user.

    Check the source code of the items.

    You should have something like this while looged-in:

    <li><a href="..../messages/ ">Messages (0)</a></li>
    <li><a href="..../notifications/ ">Notifications (3)</a></li>

    The count is in brackets.

    If you want a real bubble, you have to style it yourself with css. To do so, you need to add a span around the counter. Exactly like this:
    Notifications<span class="my_bubble">('. bp...blah... .')</span></a>

    @vicky0007,

    do you mean a static message or as setting option ?

    You can deploy a static message on the create step #2, by using this snippet inside of bp-custom.php

    function bpex_custom_message_group_creation() {
    	if( bp_is_active( 'groups' ) && bp_is_group_creation_step( 'group-settings' ) ) :

    		echo 'Only group admins are allowed to post';

    	endif;
    }
    add_action( 'bp_before_group_settings_creation_step', 'bpex_custom_message_group_creation' );

    As setting option, read here:

    You wanted code ? Here it is, but no need to get rude by using uppercase ! Searching the forum brings some topics about “notification”

    See if it still works:

    Thank you for these clarifications @boonebgorges

    What you’re saying confirms point by point what i discovered while trying to built a custom group directory.
    The sql trick (thank you for the syntax!) was my ultimate option to achieve it. But the price for this is – IMHO – too high in the actual group type stage.

    I won’t go this route simply for an order option display. And as you note, it may become confusing anyway if a group has more than one type assigned.

    In my project, i have already all types as tab with a correct sort order. With this configuration i don’t need a type option (already explained in my previous post). And anything is happening on the same URL /site/groups.

    But i added an option to show only groups having types. Ok, it is not grouped by types, but at least, i can see all typed group ONLY.

    Adding colors helped me to see what’s going on – semantically discutable – but i was just testing, not seeking for a AAA award. By the way, it is possible to do, in case of a perticular need. πŸ˜‰

    This remark struggles me a bit:
    Your use case is valid, but I don’t think it’s the only, or even the primary, use of group types.

    I don’t think that too ! But still now, i’m very unsure what a primary or other use case is. πŸ˜‰

    Here a screen shot of my group directory.

    You can add such a link very simply to your main menu by using the menu customizer:
    http://example.com/members/me/

    As already said: it’s constructed.
    The site url is defined in WP general settings and stored in wp_options table
    The user name is stored in wp_users table

    Nothing ! I can sort them, but i was unable to assign them correctly. Whatever i tried until yet, didn’t work. It’s like the default group filters keep precedance. My feeling about group type, is that it is implemented to be used inside of group create step first and in a single group as second. In brief, it’s an information for single groups.

    Also, this curious slug (groups/groupname/type/typename/) applied to the group type name showing up on a group header. This pseudo ‘type’ sub-page is used to display a directory of groups using the same type. But this directory isn’t the site group directory !
    Despite this, the default group nav menu is also on that page. And when you click for example on All Groups (the default group directory page) you remain on /groups/groupname/type/typename/. Bad UX !

    That’s what i discovered after unpacking 2.7 RC2. I opened a ticket and Ray patched it a few hours later. Seems to resolve partialy that specific menu problem, but for the moment it’s only a patch and a bug- not the final solution.

    Now, add to that issue, the fact that the group directory is ajaxified, that groups sort options have apparently priority whatever you add as custom option and also the (imho) complex way groups_get_groups applies his filters is far away from what i’m able to do. The mangle of doc and use examples related to types is also an obstacle.

    There is most probably a filter missing. The question is: what, how and where to apply it. Do we use bp_ajax_query_string or groups_get_groups ? Or both or something other ?

    That said, my low php knowledge is probably the first obstacle. πŸ˜‰ If you have a brilliant idea to surround this, don’t hesitate to share.
    I you want i can send you a copy of what i’m trying to do, bundled as plugin.
