In reply to: How to disable Group Activity updates?
@sakarya Just to be clear, you’re removing the status update form from the group’s activity, so that should work. Have you cleared cache? Or were you trying to remove the status update form everywhere?
I can only say that the best practice is to create a child theme.
@cappiels you’d need a custom plugin to pull that off. Or, tweak https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fb-autoconnect/ or a purchase http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddypress-facebook-connect-advance-facebook-loginregistration-plugin-for-your-buddypress-based-social-network/
In reply to: How to disable Group Activity updates?Did you remove it from this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.8.1/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/activity.php
I hope you’re using a child theme of the BP Default theme instead of making those changes on that theme in your server. Otherwise, your changes will be overwritten when BP is updated.
In reply to: Combine /user & /user/profile pages?@kvschwartz name of file should be bp-custom.php and not bp-customs.php

What page is plain and simple? If you only want to change the background (of whole site or of one specific page) then you can change it via your theme’s stylesheet.
In reply to: One plugin not using the same template as the rest.@uabassguy you should also ask at http://theme.firmasite.com/support/forum/theme-support/
In reply to: Standard code for registration page@lucamoretto there’s a premium plugin by @svenl77 and @konrads at http://themekraft.com/store/woocommerce-buddypress-integration-wordpress-plugin/ which bridges BuddyPress and Woocommerce and does what you need.
In reply to: Unknown User Showing UpDo you see said user in wp-admin/users or in database? Have you tried deleting said user?
In reply to: [Resolved] Custom sidebar on register page@newo1t it all depends on what theme are you using? Have you followed instructions at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/
@karthiksanthanam error caused by BuddyPress Virtual Gifts widget plugin. Please contact plugin author about the error.
In reply to: How to let users blogIn reply to: fixed width of site@rishikant Fixed width, just use width instead of max-width. Or could just be that another style placed in another stylesheet overrides what you’re attempting to modify. Use Firebug add-on for Firefox or Chrome Developer Tool to identify the issue. Better yet, site url?
In reply to: Registration + Extended Profiles question@ranebo You can disable registration by going to Settings > General and making sure registration is not enabled.
The users can only fill out whatever Extended Profile Fields the Site/Super Admin created in the backend via Users > Profile Fields, users cannot create new profile fields. These profile fields can only be edited by the user in the front end via Member Profile Screens and not in the back end via User > Your Profie
In reply to: Removing Buddypress sidebars@squaredindex If you’re using a WordPress theme, not a BP Default child theme, check out BP Theme Compatibility information at
a. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-compatibility-1-7/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/
b. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/Basically if you want to change ALL the BP pages to have a sidebar or not, then create a new file named buddypress.php and paste in the code of your theme’s file which has a sidebar or a full width layout. Then upload buddypress.php to the root of your theme’s folder in server. For theme compatibility to work, your theme should have the_title and the_content within the WP loop. Read a) above.
If you want to mix-and-match BP pages with full-width and two-column (with sidebar) layouts, read b).
In reply to: Avatar Crop not working: selector is not a square@alanniemies I would report this issue with the premium theme developer or check the premium theme’s forums. Surely you’re not the only one who has experienced this issue with BuddyPress activated.
@philmay he fixed it by repositioning the site header link to above the navigation bar instead of being right on top of it in his theme’s stylesheet.
@davidollerton Where are you hosted? Does your hosting have GD library installed and/or imagemagick? Can you upload media in a regular WP Post or Page and choose the small/media thumbnail?
What plugins do you have installed? Have you checked whether deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and changing to Twenty Twelve or Bp Default theme resolve the issue?
In reply to: Buddypress and Twenty Twelve compatibility@craftersuniversity At this moment, I see that you’re using a Twenty Eleven as parent theme and not Twenty Twelve.
Twenty Eleven has a one-column layout for its default page.php. Check out this tutorial for getting a sidebar into the BP pages: http://bpsocialnetwork.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/twenty-eleven-theme-compatibility/
In reply to: Missing sidebarper OP, closing this topic in favor of https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-and-twenty-twelve-compatibility/

In reply to: Add all subscriptions to one user.@irondan Do you mean you want one user (or all users) to be notified of any/all topics which would be created in your forums? I have not seen any plugins created for that functionality. You would be better served, I believe, by posting this feature request at the bbPress forums https://bbpress.org/forums/ with more information
In reply to: Delete post comments via front endSorry, wasn’t “in” totally yesterday. Glad you resolved the issue on your own … as well as learned more about WP comments in the process 🙂
