In reply to: Buddypress groups styles
For example, I changed the background of the home page to black, the group page also went black.
@jessicana That is the default behavior as BP adds rudimentary styles to the components in BP pages.
BP injects BP classes in the<body>tag. View > Source or use FF/Chrome inspector and you’ll find numerous classes e.g. in a Group named “The Godfather”, you’ll find the following classes you can use for the single group home page or for the rest of the Groups component pages:
<body class="single-item groups group-the-godfather group-home home buddypress ... etc.>
so you can use e.g.body.buddypress { /* for all BP pages */ }or
body.groups { /* for all groups */ }or
body.group-home { /* for the single group's home page */ }etc.
In reply to: NEW! Buddy Member Stats & BuddyPress Community StatsThank you @danbp! Will be checking both out in a little while.
P.S. Will you also be submitting both to the WP Plugin repository? In reply to: buddy presss pages just wont work@iamc0llins
– Could you post the steps you have gone through so far so that we can identify where the roadblock is?
– Did you double check in Settings > BuddyPress – Pages panel whether the names of the page is assigned to the respective component you activated?
– Are you running on WAMP/XAMPP/LAMP or other setup?Re BadgeOS plugin conflict: please post the issue at the plugin’s support page at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/badgeos
Re error with Media upload: Do you mean you cannot upload media from the Page/Post/Media > Add New panels? Then do provide more information https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/. If you’re using a third-party media plugin, please post the issue at that plugin’s support forums.
@mamaslt Most possibly, that could be resolved with a simple CSS tweak. Help us help you by posting site url here so we can take a look at the source.
In reply to: Stalking-Admin View PM?@bfreed As super/site admin, you should be able to view all the undeleted sent/received messages of any/all your members from the frontend of your site. Why do you want to use FTP or phpmyadmin instead?
In reply to: Members Page not Loading!@wecreatehype Have you done any basic troubleshooting like deactivating other plugins except BuddyPress and changing to the WP default theme? Also, do provide more information about your installation so we won’t be chasing ghosts. https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/
In reply to: Converting BBPress to BuddyPressI have read many stories about converting BuddyPress to BBPress format
@netentry Just to clarify that the only converting we ever did was to import content from the very old stand-alone bbPress 1.x.x versions included in very old BuddyPress installations into the bbPress 2.x.x plugin a long while back. That’s it. BuddyPress itself cannot be converted into bbPress forums.
Are there any good tools for performing a BBPress-to-BuddyPress conversion?
Another clarification here. BuddyPress is not a forum. It is a social network plugin with many components which could have Sitewide and/or Group forums if bbPress 2.x.x is installed and activated.
So in your case, if you only have the bbPress plugin activated, you could install and activate BuddyPress and set it up in the bbPress Settings screen to allow Group forums in addition to the Sitewide Forums. Take note however, that if you activate bbPress and BuddyPress at the same time, the BuddyPress member profile pages will trump (or will show up instead of) the bbPress member profile pages.
@atfpodcast Sorry, not quite clear what you mean. What exactly do “other BuddyPress themes have for the profile” that you want? Can you post a link to the other BP themes profile page URI so we can identify what you mean?
In reply to: Group Invitation Buttons@naumanahmed19 Do provide us with more information so we can help you troubleshoot. What theme are you using? Have you checked if it is just a styling issue? What plugins are activated in your site? Have you checked whether deactivating plugins except BuddyPress resolves the issue?
@jrunfitpro What djsteveb said. Best place to ask is at the theme author’s forums. Saw their page with list of incompatible themes and plugins. BuddyPress has not been included in that list though no one has answered the question of one who asked if anyone has made it work with BP.
In reply to: Styling BuddyPress Login Widget@jld142 Based on title of this topic, you only want to change the styling aka CSS. If that’s the case, you do not need to add any BP folders/files in your child theme. Just override the style in your theme’s style.css file or whatever stylesheet is enqueued in your premium theme.
If however, you want to change the markup or functionality in some form or the other, then you’d have to look at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.3.2/src/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php#L22 and make the fix in your child theme’s functions.php – no need to copy over any BP folder.
In reply to: Can’t register user through front end> then click on ‘Complete Signup’ button but nothing happens and no users are created in the backend.
@startershut Click on wp-admin menu Users and click on BP’s Pending link on screen then activate the user you just created. https://codex.buddypress.org/administrator-guide/pending-users-admin-screen/
Here’s how regular member registration works: https://codex.buddypress.org/member-guide/registration/
In reply to: Cannot Log Back In To My WP Dashboard?@jrunfitpro What do you mean by “removing bbPress”? Deactivating/deleting bbPress from Plugins page doesn’t cause any issue per check in my local installation. WP/BP/bbPress versions?
In reply to: Buddypress job or project Gallery with Avatars@quinngoldwin I’m not aware of any plugin that does what you want out of the box. At this stage, you might want to look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-job-manager/ and a BP plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-job-manager/ and try work from there to set up a jobs category home page similar to what you posted above. Haven’t worked with either plugin before but the plugin author of the WP Job Manager has very good rep.
You could post at the official WordPress Jobs Board at https://jobs.wordpress.net and/or our jobs board at https://buddypress.org/support/forum/plugin-forums/bp-jobs-board/
In reply to: [Resolved] Mass-deleting Buddypress groups?@rockoria You’re welcome. Marking this post as resolved.
In reply to: [Resolved] Mass-deleting Buddypress groups?@rockoria Pull down the “Screen Options” tab near the upper right corner of the page. This will show up “Groups” and you can set it to show max of 999 groups on the page. That way, you only delete 4 times.
Otherwise the only option is to go to your database and delete some tables and rows in some other tables. Cleaner and safer way is still to proceed deleting the groups via Groups Admin screen.
In reply to: [Resolved] No excerpts for posts in activity streamIssue posted above has been resolved in BP Trac https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6554
In reply to: [Resolved] need to view Groups Members in Admin@rglennnall you’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.
In reply to: [Resolved] Mass-deleting Buddypress groups?> Mass-deleting Buddypress groups?
@rockoria Safest way is to go to wp-admin/dashboard and click on the “Groups” link in the menu. You’ll get the updated version of what you see in the following image https://mercime.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/groups-dashboard-admin.png
In reply to: [Resolved] need to view Groups Members in Admin@rglennnall
> either the Groups associated with each User> to show Users associated with each Group
Just go to yoursite.com/groups/[nameofgroup]/members and you’ll find the list of members who joined or were invited to the groupIn reply to: location of selectbox@felipexx85 You’d need to go to your site’s Activity directory page e.g. http://example.com/activity
The content of the selectbox will depend on what components you have activated and plugin you have installed. For example, Topics and Replies only show up in the selectbox if bbPress plugin is activated. In reply to: Custom Picture/Album uploader@stegtflesk Looks like you’re using a premium theme with it’s own features built in. Not sure, because we need more information, like what theme are you using? Have you tried asking at the theme author’s forums? We have no access to premium themes.
In reply to: BLOGS@fridafric Most of the information on that book is obsolete. If you want blogs, you need to create a network first, and that is a WordPress function which BuddyPress supports. Deactivate BuddyPress and other plugins first the follow instructions at https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
Do make sure that your multisite installation is working as expected before activating BuddyPress.@quinngoldwin Glad you had it resolved, thanks for posting back. Strange that it happened in the first place.
