In reply to: New comments in activity 1.2 brings thread on top
As far as I know it will look like my personal-activity-stream, right?! For my personal stream I think that’s just fine, but for the main-streams it is kind of confusing for the users, when they find the comment (with the “in reply to”) and a little underneath there is the whole update-comment-thread…
Or did I get that wrong? Maybe there already is a way to move the WHOLE thread on top???
In reply to: Install BP in a Sub-BlogGreat! For all the dummys like I am it maybe would help to add this line somwhere as an example too:
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 117 );
–>Blog Nr.117
So that none puts
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id );
in it
In reply to: external-group-blogs & group-twitter doesn't workMaybe Andy should say something about it, for he is the creator of those plugins…
In reply to: Install BP in a Sub-BlogWOW – thanks r-a-y – you are great. Now I can switch it without bothering! Thanks alot!
In reply to: 1.2 CSS background-transparency issueI would appreciate any statement about this issue
. THANKS!
In reply to: New BP Chat plugin for Buddypress@dave It is just fine, your chat. BUT for my use, too much on the user-side. Too many options, possibilities etc… This is confusing for most of my users… (just the small-pop-up-chat is fine
In reply to: Spam, Spam and more spam@guristu: WOW – that sounds very promising, I always found the hashcash-plugin a very good and simple solution. Why not sending your “hack” to the developers, so that they can update their plugin-version for all the future bp-users
In reply to: Install BP in a Sub-BlogThanks for all the good hints and advice.
It’s working great! I even changed the slug-urls…
One little pushback: All the old activity has the old links and is therefore pointing to nowhere… But I guess that’s not changeable?
In reply to: Buddypress Profile SidebarI think those plugins are not yet compatible with 1.2 – I guess you will have to wait
In reply to: Widget logic 1.2Hmmm – yes, this plugin sounds logic
(and would be the forum-titel…
. That is exactly the question, for I am not a php-guru. Can anyone point me in the right direction, who that would work with buddypress (example: how could I show a widget with that plugin just on a users profile…?)
In reply to: New BP Chat plugin for BuddypressGood to hear you’re still up! none of the other chat-solutions seemed quite like what I need. Yours seemd a couple of month ago already ahead
. Looking forward…!
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2@hempton-smith – maybe it would be possible that the status doesn’t get updated, if the “update” start with an @username… that would at least solve this issue
In reply to: Message all Group MembersI thought about a workaround, because the wire (with the messaging option) is gone in 1.2 (and I still don’t know., what Andy has up his sleeves for a replacement…
.What about that: Everybody still gets an email, when the Admin (or Mod?) writes a Latest-News-Update. But in the mail it just mentions that there is an update… It would make alot of sense to me, if the members would get the whole content of the update per email.
What do you think – would that be enough?
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2I think Andy is right and to me that is a main point: it’s not facebook and it’s not twitter. I like that
! I like the @thing and how it works. To me totally makes sense! And I could imagine, that non twitteres will pick up the idea pretty fast, because it’s just logical.The greatest pushback is the problem with the usernames, but the “public message button” is a first little step. I still would like that something like autosuggestion would pop up, when you type @.
In reply to: FAQ: How To, Code Snippets and SolutionsI once posted a forum article about having profile information in the registration-mail to the admin, when a new member registers. We couldn’t accomplish that, but a friend of mine made it possible to have a direct link to the members-profile. That’s one click away and helps me very much, so that I don’t have to search for them. Here is the code, just put it in a php-file and in the mu-plugins folder:
<?php
/*
Plugin Name: My Register Form
Description: Customisations for the Registration Form
Version: 0.1
Author: Marc Cawood
*/
// Custom Message in Registration Mail
add_filter( 'newuser_notify_siteadmin', 'my_newuser_notify_siteadmin');
function my_newuser_notify_siteadmin($msg) {
global $current_site;
// Extract member name
$member = substring_between($msg, ': ', "n");
// Link to member profile
$member_url = clean_url("http://{$current_site->domain}{$current_site->path}members/".$member."/profile");
return $msg . "nn" . $member_url;
}
function substring_between($haystack,$start,$end) {
$start_position = strpos($haystack,$start)+strlen($start);
$end_position = strpos($haystack,$end);
return substr($haystack,$start_position,$end_position-$start_position);
}
?>In reply to: Best Event Plugin?Temporarly I am using the one nexia recommended. It is good, simple and clean.
I used Erwin’s Plugin at first, but it is pretty disappointing until now (and I followed it from the beginning). I hope there will come a “ultimate” event-tool for BP with all the features Erwin was thinking about at first
! I am still saying this although there was a life-sign on Erwins Page in the last days…
In reply to: Groups: Send Internal Message to all group members?amen to that: This checkbox is really important to me (with or without internal mailing).
The checkbox is not existing anymore in 1.2, but Andy mentioned something over at testbp.org that he has something up his sleeves instead of that with the same functions…. sounds mysterious and I would like to know more about it
In reply to: mobile theme for buddypress?sounds very promising…
In reply to: Moving to a new domain nameWOW -. good article (didn’t read the whole). We had to do that once, new domain, new server – and I tell you, it was VERY MESSY!!! Hopefully that article eases that pain!
In reply to: Photo Albums…. omfg!!Thanks mike – that is one of my fears, too. Especially with photos and media…
In reply to: h-mag.comYep – classifieds looks great and I would need something like that… How did you do it? Could that be a plugin, you would like to release
???and by the way: your events are just what I am longing for!!!
In reply to: Plugin Idea – Filterable Activity WidgetYep, I think so too
In reply to: HELP invite friends and events plugin for bp 1.2About events: I really am loosing faith in that plugin. I was following and using the development since the beginning – with all it’s ups and downs. The early feature “promises” sounded great and exactly what I was needing, but as time passed by, it seemed, that not even the basic things could stay functional and up-to-date…
I emailed and asked Erwin about that – sadly no response. So I think I can write it here: I believe we really need someone or a team to develop that plugin further or maybe start anew!
The features with recurring events, reminder for members, google-maps, calender-views and widgets sounded just GREAT…
So anyone out there???!!!
In reply to: Friends and Groups for BuddyPress 1.3Maybe this is a little off topic, but it’s about something mike mentioned. I think the development goes with 1.2 already in the right directions. I like almost everything about it. But some things are really missing. For example the mass-messaging in a group. I think it was a crucial option for the groups (and right now it is the backbone of our groups!!!) and now it’s gone… (is there any thought of bringing a funvtion like that back?)
I many points I agree totally with mike.
In reply to: iphone web appsorry, no solution.. BUT: sound great, I am really looking forward to a great iphone app!
Thanks!
