In reply to: Comment to Updates not triggering notification
@hypnoscribe @milenushka To be honest I deactivated and uninstalled Buddypress a few weeks ago. There was no response to this query and given it’s a key part of the BP experience I found that quite disappointing. Although at the same time, I do acknowledge the plugin is maintained by volunteers. I’m now using a different plugin for a community feature which expands on the default WordPress user accounts, and links nicely with the big social networks for good exposure. Sorry I can’t help in resolving this.
In reply to: Top bar – Help me pleaseBy default Buddypress doesn’t have it’s own Login or Forgot Password pages. The behaviour of your site is correct. You could create your own page templates for separate pages, or use a plugin something like this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/clean-login/ or
https://wordpress.org/plugins/zm-ajax-login-register/To redirect users on login/logout:
In reply to: login page help@king-generous Are you using any of the following:
A theme with a custom login page?
A plugin to create a custom login page?
A plugin to change the URL of the WordPress login page?Buddypress uses the standard WordPress login page at http://yoursite.com/wp-login.php
Paul.
In reply to: Top bar – Help me please@icaroferraira For toolbar modifications I would recommend WP Symposium Toolbar – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-symposium-toolbar/
You can decide which WordPress roles should see which toolbar items, and create custom menus of your own should you want to.
Paul.
In reply to: Live NotificationsI can pass that information on, but I’m no developer myself 🙂
In reply to: Live Notifications2.1 and 4.0 are fine, just tested. I’ll pass that on when I get a response.
In reply to: Live NotificationsThe plugin is meant to trigger the notifications bubble in the toolbar – since 2.1.1 this just doesn’t happen. I’m not sure how to diagnose it to be honest. I’ve switched themes, and tested on a vanilla install with just that and BP installed, no joy. I will go backwards with BP versions tonight, pretty sure 2.1 was good.
In reply to: Live NotificationsI think the usefulness or desirability of email notifications depends more on the environment than the community. If you took the view that there’s a good chance the majority of users will use a tablet or mobile device, the friendliness of email notifications decreases greatly, while the opposite would be true of live notifications.
The problem I have is the Live Notifications plugin doesn’t work with BP 2.1.1, and the problem isn’t theme related. If the plugin was regularly updated to become compatible, I’d be happy with that 🙂
In reply to: Live NotificationsHi @henrywright
Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll put a request in on Trac shortly. At present, I’m probably going to be forced into using my second choice as a theme just to have these feature. From a regular users point of view, I find it unlikely they’ll even bother to acknowledge new email notifications, whereas live web notifications are standard, even expected in other widely used applications, both personal and workplace.
Thanks for your help.
In reply to: Live NotificationsAs a secondary to this – the live notification plugin no longer works with any theme as of BP 2.1.1.
I have contacted the developer, waiting for a response.@iryna_b This might be an obvious suggestion but have you tried adding !important to one of those styles that aren’t taking effect? So as an example:
.button:hover, .button:active { background: #dd823b; }
.button:hover, .button:active { background: #dd823b!important; }In reply to: Adding content to Activity pageWithout trying it myself I would suggest page templates are one potential option. You can customize those BP pages and future proof them by adding them to your child theme. Recreate the same folder structure as your parent theme in your child theme, and it should work fine.
In reply to: Adding content to Activity page@milenushka This behaviour isn’t limited to Activity. Any page you set Buddypress to utilize – Groups, Members etc. won’t be available to edit. I’ll have to plead ignorance on this one though – just installed BP 1.81 and while the same pages are available to edit, those changes don’t show on the front-end. I’m not sure what you’ve been able to do with these pages in the past? I suspect the edit link has now been removed to avoid confusion rather than anything else.
In reply to: Comment NotificationsIn reply to: Customize Profile TabsSorry Hugo, my mistake. I appreciate BP is written by volunteers, who do a job beyond expectation, but sometimes the replies from moderators, like yourself, show a pretty poor attitude. Close this ticket. I was only requesting an update, like ‘tornatillo’ was, 2 weeks and 4 days ago.
In reply to: Customize Profile TabsBumping this, no update received.
In reply to: Should i use Buddypress? To create a member only site, I would highly recommend this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/jonradio-private-site/
In reply to: Add sidebar to Registration Page@mercime If you visit http://falcon.everygoalmatters.com you can see the sidebar is present on every page. I set the ‘left sidebar’ template for the Register page, but no sidebar displayed. I then contact Buddyboss support who advised of the page template above to edit. Which I’ve also done, but still no sidebar will show. Off the top of my head, is it not the case that the Register page has no call to sidebar? I’ve swapped around with a few themes recently and saw the same issue on each one.
Thanks,
Paul.In reply to: Show @ handle beneath username@danbp I don’t know where those two files are you’ve noted. Maybe I wasn’t clear. It would seem logical to me for example, the ‘Sitewide Activity’ stream showed the @ handle of the posting or commenting user. This would make it far easier to reply instead of having to open the relevant user profile first, then go back a page and add your own comment. Think Twitter.
In reply to: Bulk mark new notifications as Read@mercime Excellent. Thanks for the quick response.
In reply to: Mobile StylingI’m happy to do some custom styling. Would be nice if the templates can do some of the leg work – BP is basically unusable on mobile on a default install.
In reply to: Mobile StylingCan I ask how or when these template packs will be implemented? I’ve installed the 2.0 beta, but none of the BP pages look any different?
Thanks,
Paul.In reply to: Mobile StylingGood stuff 🙂 That might go some way to solving my biggest headache.
Thanks.
In reply to: Share/Retweet Feature@valuser I’ve received the email with your new update on but for some reason it’s not showing here?
BP-Resahre is what I’m looking for. Something which should be part of the core in my opinion. It does need some work as the reshare button shows for the original user but doesn’t work (needs logic to not appear), and it also needs a little css work, but it certainly functions correctly.
Thanks again.
In reply to: Customize Profile TabsSo it wouldn’t be possible to move the activity streams from Mentions and Favourites into the Personal tab to create one clean user activity log?
Then (on my site) move Following and Group activity streams into one tab?
That would seem to make a much cleaner profile page – one tab relative to the users actions only, and a secondary tab showing the actions of those they are friends/followers of, or groups they’re a member of.
I just feel the amount of tabs at present on both sitewide activity and user activity doesn’t make for a slick end-user experience.
Been able to select them from menus would be an improvement for sure but I thought it would be possible to do this by changing streams or loops? I’ve only had a skim read of that stuff at present to be honest.
Thanks.
