In reply to: Is this hosting plan good for buddypress?
curious what your daily traffic was like for that site.
In reply to: Is this hosting plan good for buddypress?gs is a shared environment as such it is not recommended for anything but private buddypress sites (maybe not even then). unlike other shared environments gs will not throttle you but instead they will bill you for overage the thing to really watch for is the GPU. WP+BP will use something like 100x the GPU of a typical static site when i used them on a BP site with about 2000 visitors a day about 2 years ago we were looking at about 200 in overage in the first month alone.
#1 some media temple term that doesn’t mean much just think of it as total bandwidth cause thats probably what it is.
#2 yes.
#3 1
#4 probably not but i’m sure you can buy extras. email accounts are totally separate from wordpress/buddypress accounts.
In reply to: Weird repeating of buddypressSounds like whatever that component is isn’t coded quite right but its hard to speak specifically, given no specifics, repeating elements are in my experience almost always due to an unclosed div tag. If i were you i’d seek advice from the theme developer as the changes would best be addressed by him/her rather then you. Amongst other reasons, so that his/her other customers might also benefit from the fix.
In reply to: Weird repeating of buddypresssounds like an unclosed div tag in your theme or something.
i think you want to be looking at the language files.
In reply to: Where can I find BuddyPress 1.6.5 download link?In reply to: BP Registration Processthis is probably what you are looking for not 100% sure myself if it’s totally compatible with 1.7 but i would assume so:
In reply to: SPAM, SPAM, EVERYWHERE!wangguard might be helpful in cleaning out your existing users as well even if you decide not to keep it.
neat thanks for sharing!
In reply to: Users can’t post in Forumdoes the user have a forum role? the text information you shared seems totally normal, fyi.
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam DestroyerAn interesting post thanks for sharing i would say that i would tend to disagree with some of the basic assertions he makes mainly about the requirement of linking to a wp.com account and also i would note that it seems that he does in fact use it himself but just not for every client.
Anyway not trying to go too far off topic and again i do appreciate your sharing your opinion on that as well as you work towards fighting spam.
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam Destroyerok thanks for the update but now you have me wondering when you say:
To each his own. I strongly dislike Jetpack. Myself and many others recommend people against using it.
is that just due to development reasons or is there another reason you don’t like it?
i would admit that there are components i don’t like (easy enough to disable selectively) but it is the only decent way to provide stats to content contributors without giving each of them GA access (as well as other various other things that seem to only be possible with JP).
Anyway just curious never heard anyone say they had anything against jetpack before.
In reply to: [Resolved] 1.6.5 crashes pages with shortcodeprobably wise to double check your theme has been updated to work properly. if it is legacy bp theme most of the issues i’ve seen so far seem to be related to that kind of thing.
also i think you’d best be served by not responding to an unrelated and previously resolved topic.
In reply to: XML 404 error reporting in gogle web master toolyeah i’d also add that the graph appears to show an improvement (reduction) in 404s.
maybe i’m being slow?
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam Destroyergotcha not to try and make you explain why or anything since i probably wouldn’t understand the answer anyway but a LOT of wordpress sites do use JetPack i pretty much consider it a prerequisite for any site that wants traffic.
Thanks for all your hard work in the good fight against spammers and sploggers though!
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam Destroyerso i read this plugin is not currently compatible with Jetpack is that correct? thanks!
In reply to: Buddypress synci don’t think thats actually possible currently without some serious db hackery i do believe there is a feature request for import/export functions which would eventually allow for it though.
In reply to: Users can’t post in Forumhave you run the bbpress repair scripts? i have found that odd behaviors are sometimes resolved that way.
In reply to: Profile settingsyou need to add more fields to either “base” (unless you have renamed “base”) or you can also add new groups and add the new fields there.
In reply to: Allow admin to edit any profileit’s supposed to do that already.
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam Destroyerit’s an interesting plugin no doubt i know it’s probably a bit early to be able to give a real apples to apples comparison but i’m just wondering how the accuracy compares to API based spam/splog prevention such as akismet or wangguard.
ok i’m sorry for some reason i thought you had some other forum plugin already sorry for any confusion.
In reply to: Automated Spam@mercime thanks for the heads up probably gonna stick with WangGuard for my buddypress client at this point but glad to see there are more options now.
In reply to: Seeking testers for Spam Destroyerlooks cool i’ll keep it in mind for any future buddypress test projects!
