In reply to: Selective content on site wide activity feed
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
Activity stream really needs more filters..
In reply to: activity feed – feed not working after upgrade 1.1.3In reply to: fatal errorUhm.. a little more information could be helpfull. Like when did you get this error, where you get this error, which versions you run, etc.
Edit: I see that it’s because of a plugin, contact the creator of the plugin.
In reply to: Do you exist this plug in?Wow that it would be that easy.. Thanks r-a-y!
In reply to: Turning off blog visibility kills the activity feedIn buddypress 1.2 they start off with more privacy options, but for now there is no solution for this. Hacking the core can be done, but make sure you note it down somewhere so that when you update you know what to replace in files.
In reply to: Forum directory not linked to groupsWell you can auto join members to a group, so that you can use that groups forum as a main, but this hasn’t been done before, so can’t say how well this will work.
I personally also have bbpress as a seperate install and used it’s deep integration.
In reply to: How to create forums?Forums are now linked with your groups, so you first need to make a group and that group wil contain a forum. It’s as easy as that. Unfortunately if you want a standard (classic) forum, you will have to install bbpress seperately and just use deep integration with that.
In reply to: Group Twitter PluginAlmost everything on buddypress is an issue when using Supercache. Since almost everything updates itself. As far as I know supercache has a few tags that you can use to ignore a piece of code, but you’ll need to use that on almost every buddypress function.
There already is a plugin which allows photo upload, but it has really limited options.
http://manojkumar.org/bppicture-album-plugin-for-buddypress/
You could use it as a guide to make your own plugin.
Make a plugin or put it in your functions.php.
function pc_get_userrole ($user_id) {
$user = new WP_User($user_id);
$userclean = $user->roles[0];
return $userclean;
}Call it like this.
echo pc_get_userrole(bp_current_user_id());Not sure how well it works, but it worked well enough for me.
In reply to: Facebook Facelift – VideoWow, those ajax functions must make that server nuts..
Am I allowed to copy this theme and make it a buddypress theme?
In reply to: How do people handle upgrades on live sites?Maintenance mode plugin works fine on wpmu, am using it right now as well.
In reply to: Default Theme not Carrying Through to New BlogsThat’s because there is no buddypress theme for your users blogs, they just take the standard wordpress theme, just like when you would make a WPSA install.
In reply to: style vs screen CSSEvery wordpress theme needs at least a style.css file, bloginfo(‘stylesheet_url’); tells the theme to get it’s style.css file. If you want another one, change the style.css or just add another stylesheet underneath your style.css sheet.
If your totally new to WordPress, try downloading a theme from the wordpress theme directory on wordpress.org and see how it’s made. Maybe then you’ll have a better understanding on how to do things in wordpress, like calling multiple stylesheets.
Here’s an example.
<link href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/css/style2.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />In reply to: style vs screen CSSYes, that line gets your current theme’s style.css file. In buddypress’s case, it’ll get the bp-sn-parent style.ccs..
In reply to: How to exclude comments from bp_has_activitiesI meant blog post comments, not the comments on the activities.
In reply to: style vs screen CSSA <link> inside the header, like it usually is..
In reply to: How to exclude comments from bp_has_activitiesThen my upgrade to 1.1.3 must have gone wrong since comments are still showing up, I’ll try to re-install and see if they’ll show up..
In reply to: Problem with activation@ David Lewis: Buddypress 1.1.3 is the latest “bleeding edge”, isn’t it? And that fix I posted earlier doesn’t work?
In reply to: Can figure out how to admin bbpress.You administrate it from the front-end, not with a backend like bbpress had.
In reply to: themes installationI believe those themes do not work with the latest buddypress.
In reply to: Running Trunk – Wire Still HereI’d go for 3, personally I like to see the wire as a geustbook or a profile comment spot, I’d like to keep using it in the future.
In reply to: WordPress MU????If you want something less you could give Mingle a try, it works on WPSA (Stand alone).
In reply to: Editing Members Widget and Groups Widget backgroundLine 839 for that activity time background.
