In reply to: New theme for Buddpress – Buddytran Beta 1
I believe this project came to a halt 3 months ago. I’m planning on releasing a few cool buddypress themes soon, so sit tight.

@ illwill79: If you need help with something, pm me.
In reply to: Are We Wasting Our Time?Actually that makes more sense than your first post, making multiple services and linking those together is a brilliant idea, I thought you were gonna cramp all of it in one install.
This reminds me of the tuts plus network, what they did is take multiple wordpress intalls and gave every tutorial category their own subdomain ( eg net.tutsplus.com, psd.tutsplus.com etc.). And that network is even part of a bigger network (envato).
Wether it’s possible, I’d say yes, it’s possible. Since your planning on using different servers for all of it.
In reply to: Are We Wasting Our Time?No one develops a site like this, because there is no need. Your site will become bloated and usability will become close to zero, why do you think google splits its services? If you don’t need one of the services, you don’t have to.
Unless your planning on making a new google, give up on the dream of “one site that can do everything”. What you can do is make it easier for your users to intergrate their other sites (youtube, flickr, facebook, myspace, etc. etc.) into your own, that way they can use your site for all those services, and perhaps later you can try specializing in one of your subjects while still giving your users options to their farmiliar sites.
Connecting your site to the populair sites is still a growing favorite among users, and according to statistics will keep growing in 2010.
In reply to: Editing FooterTry the footer.php file?
In reply to: get_blog_option(): Fatal errorDoes no one read a “README” now a days?
In reply to: How do you edit the default themeIf you totally want to restyle the buddypress theme then you should indeed just copy the bp-sn-parent folder, give the copy a new name and start editing that. Though, it’s recommended that if you just want small changes, to build a child theme.
You can find a guide here on building child themes.
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
j( "div#members-directory-page ul#letter-list li " ).livequeryIsn’t that “j” suppose to be an “$”?
Not sure wether that’s it or if that j belongs to the error message..
In reply to: User Level Display for BP?The buddypress theme uses “wp_list_comments()” to get the comments, it’s a new template tag since wp 2.7.
Your able to change the output of this tag. See this article.
In reply to: Themes For Buddypress ? Where to find them?Nowhere? The only good themes out there right now are..
https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/
http://3oneseven.com/wpmu-buddypress-themes/
http://www.buddydress.com/category/buddypress-themes/ (badly supported)
http://premium.wpmudev.org/themes/ (paid)
Most people are still trying to work out there own themes, let alone work on other themes already. I myself am planning on doing a few themes in the near future as well.
In reply to: Photo Album RoadMap?I believe Andy is waiting for WordPress 2.9 to come out, since that version will have a lot of media related updates. Not sure when it’ll release, but will most likely be very soon.
In the meanwhile you could use kaltura or the buddypress picture album plugin.
Your request will not be responded too btw, the buddypress development theme wont start basing their core on other people’s plugins. If you want something like that, ask the wpmu dev team to create this once it’s build into buddypress.
In reply to: Article(s) + RSS-Feeds not available in main blogChange your permalinks. Try just using “/%postname%/”.
In reply to: vBulletin OR pnflashgames integrationdoes the vBulletin integration to WordPress could work with Buddy“DOES NOT and WILL NEVER support WordPress MU”
I’m not farmiliar with vBulletin, but if your sure 90% of Buddypress will be useless, why not totally use vBulletin (not that I agree with you that buddypress is only good because of it’s groups and forum)?
Is there a error of some sort or does it just do nothing? I just did those 5 steps and I had a integrated bbpress and shared user database.
In reply to: Moleskiners — Moleskine Notebook Users’ CommunityLooks good, are those bars supposed to be in the header (next to the search)?
We only deliver support on these forums. If you want to make a buddypress job offer, go here. https://buddypress.org/groups/buddypress-job-board
In reply to: Roadmap 1.2 / some features are not that urgentThe privacy plugin is being done by Jeff Sayre, it is a plugin not a core feature. So it’s not even in the buddypress timeline.
And since nexia already gave a nice example on how to resolve your other feature, this topic can be closed?
He means the actual template tags from buddypress, like getting latest activity and members. But yes, you would also need to replace the wp_list_pages with the buddypress menu.
Totally transforming that theme to a buddypress theme is a little harder then that though, you would need to redo/restyle all the pages to work with that theme.
Done that, been there. Works brilliantly.
1. Install WPMU.
2. Install Buddypress.
3. Change your keys in wp-config.php.
4. Install bbPress with intergrated settings (make sure you use the new keys you made). Make sure you install it in /forums and not in /forum because buddypress will nicely redirect his own /forums to your newly made bbPress install.
5. When everything works good, use this plugin.
Edit: Btw, if you wanna use buddypress login/profiles you can just use redirects.
Worked a charm for me.
In reply to: Can’t create a TopicNo, you have to make a lot of plugins yourself if you want to fetch most data from buddypress, you would also have to make a bbpress theme that fits your current buddypress theme and after that make redirects from the bbpress profile to your buddypress profile.
It’s a tough road, but the end is worth it.
In reply to: New Plugin AreasCheck bp-sn-parent’s functions.php, you see how they register the widget bars.
In reply to: Roadmap 1.2 / some features are not that urgent@ nexia: Thanks for that plugin, definately makes it easier to keep the users of the admin panel.
@ Erich: Flagging users is probably most important, since you can never always catch all bad users, so your users can catch those which you missed. Eventually your users can even take the job over from you.
In reply to: Creating a bridge between softwaresWhat software are you trying to intergrate btw?
In reply to: BP and BBPress issues.@ tajulsharby: Update to the the latest WPMU (2.8.6) and Buddypress (1.1.2)?
In reply to: Creating a bridge between softwaresGetting wordpress to play nice with other software has been an issue for a long……. time. Only thing I’ve seen so far is a link between wikimedia and wordpress.
http://ciarang.com/posts/mediawiki-with-wordpress
You could use that as a guide to create a bridge between wordpress and your own software.
(This is a very outdated plugin, so some stuff in there might need replacing.)
A user dashboard on the front has come to discussion before on these forums, but no one has done or tried anything yet (as far as I know). Would be interested in this as well, keeping the users away from the complicated and scary admin panel.

Edit: Found another one, this one connects to phpBB.
In reply to: Buddypress Developer Wanted – Paid Job!Well for a programmer it’s probably easier to start off that plugin, it already got almost everything, several tweaks to it and done.
While if a programmer would have to start from scratch, it would take more time and time is money.
