In reply to: Buddypress Developer Wanted – Paid Job!
If your willing to pay, I believe you can already come pretty far with this plugin.
In reply to: Critique My New WPMU+Buddypress Website! When you thought you’ve seen it all.. you get suprised by a buddypress site for cleaners!
Looks like a nice rewrite of the “BuddyPress Corporate Theme”. Still not 100% done though, like the menu (unless you did it on purpose like that).
In reply to: My BP plugin ideas; anyone want to develop with me?I believe you can expand http://bp-dev.org/projects/#autosuggest for that “spotlight” plugin. To give an auto suggest for blogs, blog search, members, etc all in one.
In reply to: Can’t create a TopicForums in buddypress are coupled to a group, so create a group and use the forum in that.
(I personally just use a seperate bbpress install, since I dont like the group forums.)
In reply to: where else to go to for help? The IRC channel and soon bp-tricks.com.
In reply to: Activity Commentingactivity streams into something a bit more "live"Great to hear, then I can finally throw out my activity hacks.
In reply to: Buddypress SpamAndy, the username/email gets randomly made with every signup, so that won’t work.
Maybe this’ll help too: http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/03/16/the-perishable-press-4g-blacklist/
In reply to: Why root over directory?Have tried myself, and a sub directory works fine.
In reply to: Buddypress SpamThey should just use activation mail again, works the best.
There already exists a topic concerning these spam sign-ups. Haven’t had any problem with this yet, but that’s most likely because I have my wpmu/buddypress/bbpress in dutch..
In reply to: Problem with activationThis problem will stay even if you upgrade.
See the solution here: http://mirlo.cl/how-to/fix-for-signup-and-activation-pages/
In reply to: resizing images in activity feedKeeping the image inside the box is easy but changing any content inside the activity stream is close to impossible, I experienced this first hand.

Keeping the image inside the box, just needs this css applied on the box itself.
overflow: hidden;
position: relative; In reply to: Can you multi-site BuddyPress? No this is impossible or either not recommended. If you go look inside a database with wpmu/buddypress you’ll see that without even a second wpmu/buddypress install, it’s a total mess since you get a few new tables for every blog/user, now imagine that you have 200 wpmu/buddypress installs in one database and then have 10.000 users per install. It’ll be a huge mess and probably make your server/sites really slow.
Only possible solution would be to make multiple databases, with one database per install. If your on a cheap host, this’ll be impossible, but if your on a dedicated or self hosted, you could get this to work. Still won’t recommend this though, since it’ll take a lot of resources.
In reply to: Is there a way to choose a theme during SIGNUP???No nothing like that has been made for wpmu or buddypress yet.
In reply to: Adding the admin bar to a php file.Standard bbpress installations have their own admin panel. Since bbpress is actually a totally seperate software it just has a nice extra that it can intergrate with wordpress. So if you installed it manually and did not use the already made bbpress in buddypress, then you can make and administrate your bbpress from its admin panel. If you used the bbpress in buddypress then you won’t have a handy admin panel.
In reply to: BP-tricks.com (BuddyPress tuts)Definately gonna help you out with this one, Bowe.
You mean what components should be activated for a user? Blog plugins and buddypress profile components are two totally different things offcourse. I’d rather not have my users touch plugins since it might cause confusion or bug problems. But on the other hand I would like to see that my users can switch off activity stream for themselves for example.
In reply to: Avatar upload failsIn reply to: Blank site with shoutyThe theme was build for an old buddypress, right now the theming changed so that old theme won’t work anymore. Ask him to update or switch to deprecated theme settings within your buddypress.
In reply to: Moderating/filtering new registrantsTake a plugin like role scope or role manager, make a new role with no rights and keep them that until you make them in a normal role like subscriber. Easiest solution that I can come up with.
In reply to: Translation not working?Got it working, hacked bp-core.php and made it a static link (to the .mo file).
In reply to: Translation not working? In continuation of this, I ran into a fatal error on the buddypress settings page in the admin area.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_get_buddypress_themes() in /customers/xevodesign.nl/xevodesign.nl/httpd.www/talkmore/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-admin.php on line 105Edit: Nevermind, using “define ( ‘BP_IGNORE_DEPRECATED’, true );” in your wp-config isn’t allowed apparently..
In reply to: http://superblogger.nlHehe, das toevallig, ben ook pas net klaar met het vertalen van buddypress naar Nederlands, het ziet er naar uit dat niet alles is vertaald bij je site?
In reply to: BP Member FilterI believe the xprofile fields are the fields like “name”, so basically your users their account details.
I like the fact that you can order your users like this, A to Z is kinda… lame and outdated. I’ll definately try this out later. Thanks JJJ.
Edit: JJJ was 51 seconds faster then me.
In reply to: @user notation: A Feature SuggestionThreaded forum doesn’t sound that good to me though, an @ function doesn’t either. I think the old quote function works best on a forum. Most populair forum softwares still use it, so can’t be all that bad.
