Same issue. I went in through FTP and deleted the BuddyMatic theme folder. Then went to mysite.com/wp-admin and picked a new theme.

I’m not sure, but it looks like all the folders for child themes and all that are in the BuddyMatic download. Maybe this is an issue with an auto download? Maybe not. :)
