For now, I simply commented out the line
add_filter( 'bp_the_profile_field_value', 'xprofile_filter_link_profile_data', 2, 3 );
on line 14 of bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-filters.php. The current fn simply makes way too many words into search hyperlinks.
