Yes. I would highly recommend upgrading to version 1.0. It is considered the first, stable, public release. This means that it can now be used on live, production sites.
There were a few bug fixes and some nice improvements since RC2. You can visit BuddyPress trac and see for yourself! All the changesets after r1407 came after RC2.
