sorry, that was within the has_member loop.

this would work

$bp->displayed_user->userdata->user_registered

attribute_escape( bp_core_get_last_activity( $bp->displayed_user->userdata->user_registered, __( 'registered %s ago', 'buddypress' ) ) )
