    Since you’re asking, I think maybe you should have let Andy announce this when it was time. ;)

    Now that the cat is out of the bag, I think it only makes sense to offer BuddyPress to the widest audience. In my opinion, BuddyPress does what everyone wishes WordPress would have done in the first place, so I feel like this was inevitable and a very good thing.

    Btw David, I was the tall skinny guy that helped you get the projector working at your presentation. :wave:

    Word today from WordCamp Denver – BuddyPress for WordPress (standard, not MU) is coming. It looks like the only main difference is that you cannot have blogs/sites for individual users (obviouslly). But from the sounds of it, everything else is there.

    It was said to be coming “in a few weeks”. Some might have already known about this, but i’ve been too focused on other things including a presentation I gave about BuddyPress at BarCampMiami this past Sunday.

    Opening for discussion. What do you think? :)

    Hello, I decided to start using MU/BuddyPress today and installed it to test a few things.

    http://designmyspace.org/mu/blog

    I had a friend who registered and tried to break the page with java / html, just to see if it could be done. He managed to link his profile to youtube, and change the color of his name, and mess up a whole lot of other things. So, my question is, how do I disable html / java in the profile fields and profile comments (since that’s where he was able to break it)? I tried to search on the forum, but couldn’t find anything.

    Another thing I noticed is that the “Site Wide Activity” icons are positioned behind the text with 960 fixed width, if I didn’t accidentally cause that myself.

    Sorry but I can’t help you with your IE. I just tested it again on my mac and it works fine in:

    – IE 6.x on Windows XP

    – IE 7.x on Windows Vista

    – FireFox 3.x and Safari 3.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.6

    Good news! The 1165 trunk solved the problem. You have to download the last svn version of buddypress, upload it, then set your language to your language, and last add all your widgets. Don’t forget this last step!

    At second glance, the reason I asked is because I’d like to update all of the xprofile user info that I want visible in the forums, into the bbGroup array, even if they are NOT in any group.

    I think that using your array for my purpose isn’t really “right,” but it will work once I can get non-grouped users to have a bbGroup array.

    I haven’t had time this week to come up with what I consider a “real” solution that doesn’t piggy back on top of yours, to pass all xprofile info from bp to bbp.

    Your bbGroups really does work perfectly for people that are in groups, just not people that aren’t I think. Ha!

    BuddyPress: Combo 1.0 RC-1

    bbPress: 1.0 Alpha.

    WPMU: 2.7

    I really like what you have done with BP. I’m using a WPMU compatible theme Atahualpa 3.2 and have all of the BP widgets available. I’d like to keep using Atahualpa but only have 2 sidebars available to me. In the BP theme there are 3 columns available including a “center” one where you can use BP widgets anywhere. With Atahualpa I only have 2 sidebars available to me and cannot use any of the cool BP widgets in my “center” column and its a little cramped in the sidebars right now.

    1. Is there a way with Atahualpa to use the BP widget to insert it into my center column?

    2. If using the BP widgets is not possible, then what would be the function call to insert it? For example below is code that I use in my index.php that insert a home made Recent Posts in the center column only on my static page #33.

    <?php // Most recent posts

    if ( is_page(33) ) {

    echo ‘<h2><span style=”color: #333333″>Most Recent Posts</span></h2>’; ?>

    <?php ahp_recent_posts(10, 30, 255);

    } ?>

    What would the function call look like for inserting the BP Recent Blog Posts and Sitewide Activity?

    Thanks in advanced for the responses!

    John, hang in there. Been moving myself and my laptop to a diff town past 3 days. Getting setup again. I think I’m hooking the ‘xprofile_updated_profile’ action.

    …

    Yep. In 0.22. Should work. Lemme see exactly how much of ‘changing’ the profile that actually covers.

    hi Pers, can you help me with my IE problem? Anyone out there has tested the chat using explorer?

    Where would I want to hook into, to update the bbGroups array whenever the logged in user edits their xprofile data?

    There’s a few around but you could purchase, and use, the paid for version of http://www.xml-sitemaps.com

    The app allows you to include/ exclude folders/ directories etc

    Hello

    In bp-core-widgets.php in the bp_core_widget_members() function, there’s a bunch of HTML which I need to edit for my custom home theme. I would *really* prefer not to have to edit the core BP files to make upgrading easier in future.

    Specifically I need to wrap a <p> tag around the around the “Newest | Active | Popular” links so that the vertical baseline of my site is maintained. I also need the nbsp removed, as that messes up this block when it is rendered left-aligned, but I’ve put a ticket on for this (http://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/549) as I feel this is a fairly safe yet convenient change to make in the core.

    Do you feel there is any sense in suggesting that those hyperlinks are wrapped in a paragraph span in a trac ticket? Obviously the blocks need to be reasonably generic so we can fit them into custom themes as easily as possible.

    Isn’t this an issue that needs to be addressed through buddypress then? Because people will have older users and when they install the plugin, they will have the same issue I am having of only newer users showing up through the member search.

    I posted this as a ticket (it is a bug) here: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/543

    The solution:

    OK, this is a confirmed bug. The post_date reflects the time zone set for the blog which is mountain time. I’m in the eastern time zone so my post was seen by this line of code as 2 hours old as soon as I added the post. We need to off-set for the time zone.

    REPLACE:

    if ( $recorded_post->date_created >= strtotime( "-30 minutes" ) )

    WITH

    if ( $recorded_post->date_created >= (current_time('timestamp') - 30) )

    that will fix the problem! (code in bp-blogs.php)

    I’m going to migrate some of the bbPress “favorites” idea into a BuddyPress plugin eventually. I was thinking of opening this up to site wide links as well, which would just involve a link in the header or footer, if logged in, to add that location to your favorites.

    I think it’s very doable, but would either need to be added to the trac as a feature request, or be done as another BP plugin, separate from the others.

    bp-core-adminbar.php controls what is on the menu. I used it to remove the visit tab on the far right and replace with my own links.

    If you do a view source you can find the location of the buddypress logo on far left. I replaced that logo with my own logo, and it takes the reader back to the home page of the site.

    i don’t know if i’m using firebug lite correctly, however the message of firebug is:

    “the class does not support automation (http://127.0.0.1/mu/,12)”

    i’ve inserted the js code in the header.php of the bp home theme

    ok – I’ve decided to leave this bar on for all users but what I’d like to do is to remove some of the options for logged in users. Specifically, there is a ‘BuddyPress’ link in the far left that I want to remove, the ‘My Blogs’ and the ‘Visit’ in the far right are the options I want to remove. Anyone know how to do so without hacking the code? If hacking is the only option, where do I find the relevant code? Thanks in advance for any insights.

    Upgrade to the latest version of buddyPress. I have been using it on my own installation and it is both stable and fixes this issue.

    Has anyone else noticed that embedded video (I use the anarchy media player) does not display on the first BuddyPress blog unless you read it as a single post. When reading the posts from the main blog page of consecutive posts, it just shows the embed code.
