So you never had the chance to activate the plugin?

I would recommend removing the deep integration code and seeing if you can access your forums first.

Make sure your bbPress forums are in working order, then add the deep integration code, then activate the plugin.

So what happens when you go to your bbPress forums?

The last thing you got to do is reactivate the BuddyBar plugin in bbPress!

    Did you do that?

Yes you need deep integration for the BuddyBar bbPress plugin.

Make sure you follow the instructions in the readme.txt.

Also for the forum look… unless you’re using the default BuddyPress look + Manoj’s bbPress theme (http://manojkumar.org/buddypress-theme-for-bbpress/), you’ll have to basically create a new theme that matches your WP/BuddyPress theme.

There’s no really good way around it I’m afraid.

Did you follow TheEasyButton’s instructions of disabling and re-enabling Discussion Forum in the “Test” group?

    ht*p://example.com/groups/YOURGROUP/YOURUSERNAME/group-settings

Uncheck “Enable discussion forum” and “Save Changes”.

Then re-check “Enable discussion forum” and “Save Changes” again.

    Also remove the oci-bp-sayhello.php file.

Nope, still nothing. Maybe a group forum just can’t be called “Test” for some reason? :)

Update to bbPress 1.0.1 didn’t help either, by the way…

    Thanks for your response!

I will look further into the forum. I tried installing the BuddyBar but I couldn’t get it to work. I think part of my problem is that I didn’t do the deep integration deep enough. I am going to try it again.

    It also works here:

It’s demo site. I’m using bbPress alpha 6, BuddyPress 1.0.1.

This is a WPMU question: You can find more information on the WPMU forums.

    But a quick answer:

    – When logged in as Site Admin, you can see a listing of all the site’s members by going to “Site Admin > Users”

    – The “Users > Authors & Users” menu option shows all the users that currently have some role with in a given blog.

So, when logged into the dashboard as Site Admin, you’ll only see the users who have any association with the blog(s) owned by the site admin. When logged into WPMU’s dashboard as a regular user who owns a blog, the authors, subscribers, etc associated with that user’s blog will only be displayed.

These two threads also contain relevant info:

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/default-theme-issues

However, I’m still interested in distilling a procedure out of them. How should I proceed?

    Best,

    Dedy-

Please read this thread on the most effective way to ask for support: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/have-a-new-issue-then-start-a-new-thread

It may be necessary for you to answer all the questions in the link in that thread, but here are a few to get started:

    1. Are you using the new default themes that come with BP 1.0.2 or old themes?
    2. Do you have any plugins (besides BuddyPress) installed in the site with which you have issues?
    3. Did you reselect the member theme in WPMU’s backend under “BuddyPress > General Settings”?

This is a big question that will get you a big answer. I’d suggest taking a look around this forum and the bbpress.org forums also, as there are pages and pages of discussion and documentation to help you through this. Many of which are stickies so you can’t miss them. :)

Manoj has made a BuddyPress style theme that matches the bphome buddypress theme, so that’s something that will help you. I just release the BuddyBar plugin to help get the BuddyBar in the forums area. There’s lots of people contributing. :)

i attempted deep integration – it is easy once u do it a few times :D

do a google search and you will find a few guides on it

i want to attempt the same for a bpmember theme

    #48777

r-a-y, I took the liberty of making this into a plugin for everyone. It’s a variant of what I’m using on the delsolownersclub.com site that I cleaned up for general usage.

Murphy, check out deep integration. I know it’s possible to get your bbpress theme to match your buddypress theme but it’s something I haven’t attempted yet. But a search for something along the lines of “deep integration bbpress buddypress themes” might do the trick.

This theme on buddypress.org website and the forums is not going to be released publicly. There are several posts on the forum stating this, and this answer’s been given several times.

If this situation ever changes, I am sure that we will all find out at the same time – but don’t hold your breath.

I would love the theme too. It would be really really cool if bbPress was a plugin. That way you could integrate it with any theme right? How hard would it be to do this?

See if you can disable discussions on the old group & re-enable them. Hopefully that’ll do the trick.

bb-config was untouched by the update. I deleted the old bbpress and then uploaded the new one. xmprpc is still enabled in bbpress admin. Everything looks normal in buddypress forums setup. When I create a new group, both wire and forum are activated by default.

BUT: When I create a new group, everything works smoothly. A new forum is created and I can post topics.

I also just managed to sucessfully create a group forum for an old group. It seems that just the one group that I originally used for testing did not work and still does not.

For me that makes things “good enough”, because I can just delete this one old group. It was a test group anyway. I’m just wondering whether I should mark this thread as resolved, although the original problem is not resolved, just less troublesome. :)

When you upgraded bbpress, did you remember to put all of your extra codes back into bb-config? And again, for bbpress, when you upgraded did you overwrite the files or did you remove them all and then upload the new ones? Did you go back into bbpress admin & make sure xml was still enabled? Did you check buddypress forums setup to make sure the info was still there? If you try to create a new group, are discussions enabled?

What? Just when I had figured out how to decode the old permalink structure you go and make it better.

This is a very welcome improvement!

Funny, I have followed the steps in the integration – and I could not make the Forums appear in Buddypress Groups. I tried a lot but the only solution to my problem (and perhaps NOTME31’s problem also) is just to go to DASHBOARD > Buddypress > Component Setup > and “disable” Buddypress BBForums option, save it and then “enable” it again.

Voila! It worked! No need to use the BBPress Integration plugin nor modify WP-CONFIG and BB-CONFIG.

I am using the latest release of Buddypress, and BBpress rel 1. “Bechet”. My site is at http://www.animejoints.com, although I cared not to go into “deep integration” this time. I am already happy with the BBPress Forum sharing same login as with the Buddypress and Forums are working.

HINT: Simply follow the steps outlined on the first post of this thread.

    bbPress Side (First):

    1) you have bbpress installed and a new user created on the “bbPress” side which you granted “administrator” rights by the keymaster

    2) you copy the “buddypress-enable.php” plugin out of the bp-forums folders and copy it into your /my-plugins/ folder (create if it doesn’t exist) so it is /my-plugins/buddypress-enable.php ****People ask about /bb-plugins/ versus /my-plugins/ and put it in /my-plugins/

    3) Enable the plugin through your bbPress administration side for plugins

    4) Edit “settings” to enable xmlrpc and pingbacks (both)

    5) edit your bb-config.php and just before the closing php call at the bottom of the page put:

    $bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true;

    buddypress Side (Second):

    6) Go into your main blog dashboard as the “site-admin” and go to the “bbPress Forums” page. Put in the URL of your forum like http://yoursite.com/forums/ and make sure you have the ending slash on that one.

    7) Put in the user that you created in step 1 with the bbPress “administration” rights and their password. I never changed the password, just used the random one it sent me, but it is up to you. I usually save it a couple of times to ensure it was entered due to a refreshing bug at time of writing this.

Before you go to your Group Admin Setting to enable Forum, go to BuddyPress> Component Setup > and disable – save – enable BBPress Forums.

    Hi guys

Just to say I had the same problem, it was because I’d changed my admin password. I’d figured I needed to go in to bbpress and also change the admin password there but I hadn’t also made the change in the forums intergration part. Not sure if this applies for anyone else….
