In reply to: How to @ mention
@imath published a little snippet who let you use BP 2.1 new @mention from within the bbpress editor.
https://gist.github.com/imath/5a3c4ac645ec765863f2bp-default is more or less outdated since BP 1.9 and you better have to activate a more recent theme.
If you prefer to play “old school”, verify that your bp-default is correctly setup.
Read also here about minifying css, as things can be broken around js in some case.In reply to: [Resolved] Link not working in BuddypressCan you indicate site language, a list of used plugins and your theme name please?
In addition to the above answers, here a reasonable tech limitation
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/table-size-limit.htmlHost spec example:
Adding Storage SpaceOnce you reached 50k users you can probably hire a full time server engineer anyway… 😉
Here an example of a very big community (+80k users) using BuddyPress.
Glad to bring some help to the future competitor of Google, Amazon, E-Bay and Facebook thinking about NoSql in the early stage of his project.
That said i doubt a little that WordPress is tailored for a such ambition. Give news when you have 5k users. 😉
In reply to: Styling BuddyPressPerhaps a typo error ?
#buddypress #whats-new-options { overflow: fixed; height: 50; }Try height: 50px;
In reply to: blog post mail notification errorDoes the error disapear when you deactivate the 2 plugins ?
Which theme do you use ?
Activate wp_debug in wp-config and sse if you receive other msg errors. And don’t forget that WP was recently updated too and can contain bugs, as bp doesn’t handle blog post or emails
In reply to: Buddypress Activity Link (time ago) Issueremove the greek translation of WP and BP and test in english
In reply to: My customs styles stopped workIn reply to: Group BlogThings have changed since 10 mounth !
You can do this by reading this tutorial:In reply to: Styling BuddyPressthe what’s new height is set to 20px in bp-legacy/buddypress/js/buddypress.js
In reply to: Buddypress Activity Link (time ago) Issuei’m unable to replicate your issue.
I used your title and created a new topic in a group forum.
Title is ok in swa and on group activity, and the ago thing in the Freshness col on the forum is ok too.Have you tested without any plugins but BP & bbP and did you deactivate some of your custom functions while testing (if you use some) ?
In reply to: Styling BuddyPresswhat’s new field is ajaxified, and so far i remember (may be wrong), some parts are hardcoded in the js file.
Used theme name and/or site URL please !
The problem was that you loaded a small little php error before buddypress…
The error was in bp-custom.php. This file is called very early, before BP, and if it contains an error it could bring to disfunction or breaking the whole install (depending the code and the error). That is also a very good reason to always test custom code locally before using it on a production site. And locally you can also live debug be activating wp_debug in wp-config file.
A little more about bp-custom.
In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?Feel free to contribute to BuddyPress Codex.
Write your stuff and submit a new page content. If it is correcly explained and done, maybe a dev will agree to it and publish your contribution.dashboard > settings > buddypress
Have you enabled Account Settings component and his page ?
Have you allowed registered members to delete their own accounts ?Otherwise, open a new ticket and give any details to reproduce your issue.
In reply to: BuddyPress registration terms and conditions.Under users> Profile fields> Add new field. This is only allowed to site admin, so i guess TOS is not intended to him.
Adding a TOS link to register page would be more usefull, no ?
This example snippet will do that (add to child-theme functions.php or bp-custom.php):
function bpfr_tos_link() { echo ' <b><i class="icon-thumbs-up"></i> Terms and conditions</b>'; } add_action( 'bp_before_register_page', 'bpfr_tos_link' );In reply to: List of country>state>cityNo BuddyPress doesn’t have such a feature. You have to develop it yourself or to hire a dev.
If you can give a working example of what you want to achieve, it would be easier to guide you.i haven’t tested this solution, but give a try and see if it works for you:
https://github.com/tylerdigital/bp-xprofile-shortcodeIn reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?Sorry to tell you that, but you did it wrong ! All your code in bp-custom is outside of php scope.
You have to learn a bit around php basics to distinguish between code and comments. You also opened other topics here about bp settings, who let think that you have many troubles to use BP correctly. IMHO it’s a problem between chair and keyboard and great lack of understanding. Read attentively the doc first and don’t procrastinate too much about the why and the how. 😉
When it is written
// hacks and mods will go here, you add hacks and mods at that place, and NOT above or below or outside of the<?php .... ?>tags !So to do it right in bp-custom (and not costum).php
<?php /* my tab order settings */ function bbg_change_profile_tab_order() { global $bp; $bp->bp_nav['profile']['position'] = 10; $bp->bp_nav['activity']['position'] = 20; $bp->bp_nav['blogs']['position'] = 30; $bp->bp_nav['friends']['position'] = 40; $bp->bp_nav['messages']['position'] = 50; $bp->bp_nav['groups']['position'] = 60; $bp->bp_nav['settings']['position'] = 70; } add_action('bp_setup_nav', 'bbg_change_profile_tab_order', 999 ); /* my members landing tab */ define('BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' ); ?>Don’t worry, i believe you ! But it could be possible that you imported a phpbb setting.
You’re welcome !
