In reply to: [Resolved] whats-new text area on homepage
Hi @totoff,
What’s new is a form (see activity/post-form.php)
To get it on a custom page, you can call it like it’s done in activity/index.phpif ( is_user_logged_in() ) : bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' ); endif; That said, this form is not exactly a post editor, but more a brief notice or message publication to members, and depends of the context (activities or groups for ex.)
To let users publish blog poss from the front-end, you have to search for a specific plugin probably.
In reply to: [Resolved] Query users based on xprofile dataHi @magicroundabout,
Natively xprofile field datas are automatically made clickable.
When you click on it BP built a list of members who answered the same thing.
See here how it works and how you can handle this

https://buddypress.org/support/topic/remove-automatic-links-in-profile/Hi @saurabhsjain91,

In reply to: [Resolved] Send users forgotton usernames ?Hi @lerroy,
try this plugin
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/forget-username-ajaxIn reply to: members portfolio with videoHi @brodskis,
there is an old plugin who may already work with 2.x (not tested)
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-portfolio/and this one, but as profile widget
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-profile-widgets/How to work with versionned file from SVN is too long to explain in a forum topic. Google around this subject or see on WP codex. But it is not necessary to learn that for just this modification.
In your (this) case, it is very simple to do in fact.As you can see, the patch contains code, highlighted in red and green in regards of the line numbers he belongs to.
The red code is the actual code (the one who should be modified)
and the green code is the new one who replace the red line.To do it correctly, you check the line number on the patch and read attentively the code. Not for learning it, but to have a visual memory of it. 😉
You do the same in your file, with help of a text editor like notepad+ which shows your file line numbers.
You erase the red part and you copy/paste the green part at the same place. When finished, your file must only contain the green part. Or to avoid any error, you can comment the old code and add the new code, so you could revert back if needed. Or you can also made a copy and put it in a safe place before modifying the original file.
A patch also contains code who isn’t highlighted before and after the modified lines. So you can easyly check what you do and where all this happens.
Hope to be clear.
Huh ? 😀
Klein a nitty gritty community theme. sic theme’s homepage pitch !
The heart of the matter; the basic essentials; the harsh realities.Have you asked on the theme support ?
Ok the count seems to be only a cosmetic change for the member directory.
See an original picture of this here.
A bit strange to use this trick as it exist and can be alered with css, but authors are sometimes strange….What is the theme you use ? Maybe it contains some other “strange” things ? 😉
Seems not to be possible for the moment. If you read the ticket, Boone says:
It’s a nice thought, though I’m not sure if it’d be possible to make this work without refactoring the entire activity query class. Moving to Future Release for discussion.
Feel free to disccuss this on #4988 or try to create a patch.
for simple filtering, you can use the template file and the appropriate conditionnal (bp_has_activities….) for the activity loop
For more complex filtering it is better to write your own function.
So yes it can be done. For ex like here
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/filtering-activity-stream/Just checked the pastebin. If you use it as is, i understand why it is not working.
Why do you use a count in the members loop ? This is automated by BP for that loop.
And shane’s code is commented. Should be uncommented to work. (remove the stars)In reply to: [Resolved] Having problems creating groupsHi @kizzinkwocha6,
example.com/groups/create/ leads to the homepage ?
If your group page is correctly setup/exist, you should see an empty group directory page on the front-end.Is this the case ?
Have you also setup the pretty permalinks ?Do you use a redirection plugin or any other special setting to do so ? (plugin, htaccess,….)
Do you use something related to SEO ?If yes, deactivate the plugin(s), and revert back to strictly original wp/bp install, check the permalinks, group page existence and see if group creation is now working.
If not, give your theme name.
In reply to: Activity filtering: friends and groupsIn reply to: friend request under another subnav-itemhi @commoneasy,
anything concerning friends is in /buddypress/bp-friends folder.
It is unclear to me what you want to achieve exactly. Can you please explain the difference between what BP does natively with friends request and you want to get by having a sub-nav item leading to… what exactly ? How do you figure this out ?
Freend request is a more complex affair as simply getting the “request loop” on a separate template.

replace it with this one
[ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=4]
and add as many shortcode of this type for each forum you want to show on the forum index. For ex:
[ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=4] [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=5] [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=7] [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=11]forum-index fetches ALL forums, single-forum fetches only the forum you indicate by his ID.
please read here and provide more details and if possible give a site URL.
All of your topics are so far related to some weird settings of your wordpress/buddypress installation. So it is somehow complicated to help you if you don’t resolve this first. There is no shame to read the WP codex by the beginning: get started and to follow each step.
Hi @simpleone,
you can actually only hide xprofile fields. Hiding field groups is not possible, due to a bug.
But it is corrected for 2.1 and you’ll find a patch on the trac. You can already apply the patch to 2.0.2 bp-xprofile-classes.php and the above snippet will work. Add it to bp-custom.php or theme’s functions.php
To hide an xprofile group, use bp_parse_args like this:
function bpfr_make_profile_tab_members_only( $retval ) { // hide to non members if( !is_user_logged_in() ) { // exlude groups, separated by comma $retval['exclude_groups'] = '4,5'; // exclude fields, separated by comma $retval['exclude_fields'] = '1,39'; } return $retval; } add_filter( 'bp_after_has_profile_parse_args', 'bpfr_make_profile_tab_members_only' );In reply to: block on the group page or member pagesalut @syl20g,
check the permalinks settings, /membres/ is in reality /?page_id=3549
Find more about BP install in french on http://bp-fr.net
or on BP codex 😉In reply to: Attach drawings or doodles: is it possible?hi @carlenb,
there is no buddypress forum. BuddyPress use the bbPress forum plugin, and once it is installed you can opt for a global forum or a group forum or both.
worddraw is outdated.
drawblog mentionned in the topic you linked is for wp comments and according to support doesn’t work with ios.Perhaps try this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/deviantart-muro/
In reply to: Logged in user cannot access group directory@daneraid
please read here and give more detailsIf you are on a local install, you cannot login yourself as super-admin and also for a user you added.
If it is the case, revert back to original install of BP and use this plugin. This will literally fill your site with users, friends, groups and all kind of other activities.
Hi @jungmook,
it’s a bit difficult to answer a such wide open question in one post. So very shortly:For a multisite installation of WP with Buddypress, do all the sites in the network of sites share the same user base?
Yes. There is only one wp_users table in the DB. And by default all registered users are network users.
Can WP multisite with BP be easily configured to work the same way (and yet let each site have its own separate forums and groups)?Yes and No.
BuddyPress on multisite runs for the whole network. If you’re not comfortable with WordPres and never used BuddyPress it’s not easy at all, because you have to learn a bit first. If you’re comfortable with WP, it’s relatively easy because BP is “only” a plugin and it works like a plugin.
And if you’ve never worked on a network (meaning a multisite) it could be complicated at first because you probably don’t be familiar with things such as activating a plugin on the main site and not for one of your network site, or vice versa.
I encourage you to read attentively the codex, show some videos about wordpress multisite and get the one or other tutorial you can find on the web.
Some reference

http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-and-buddypress-installation-2/see here the answer from @shanebp.
He listed all notification instance in the po fileMaybe you have an idea what that could be?
You give the answer: once translated to German and once not.
Guess if something is not translated, you can’t see it. 😉It could also to be that if you added the header infos to your po, that your translation plugin found immediatly some forgotten strings or new ones and added them, so you saw those unstranslated strings.
I suggest you to update the po file from the source using poEdit locally, for example from within bp-languages/buddypress-de_DE.po, to ensure that you have all 1476 strings of BP 2.0.2
Once done, you remove the po/mo from bp-languages and put them into wp-content/languages/plugins/
In reply to: Activate your AccountHi @hkcharlie,
it’s a remaining situation because of a session cookie.
Many users register, go to their mail client, send the activation key and return on the site during the same browser session. So, to avoid this, you can test registering by
1) register a new user from the front-end
2) close your browser.
3) get your activation key from your mail inbox
4) reopen browser and go to your site
5) enter the activation keyNormally you can now login without any problem.
You’re welcome !
I mark this as resolved and close the topic. -
