    Hi,

    not sure you need to use Softaculous to install bbpress. You can use the plugin installer shiped with WordPress or upload it manually via FTP.

    Seems you have to read the install documentation of bbPress first. And if you need help to use bbPress plugin, you have to ask on the right support forum. Here you’re on BuddyPress !

    What ever the site type, users are only registered in one table: wp_users. All the magic on sub domains, blogs, plugins (myCred,WC,…), is done with user_metas.

    1) your wp is certainly installed on mainsite.com ?
    2) but you activated BP on Community.Mainsite.com

    Sorry, but i ignore if this can work (never tried such config). I always activate BP where WP is the site root.

    ) I was under the impression that if you signed up as a user on subdomain.site.com, you’d be a member of that site and that site only.

    No, with BP you’re member of a network and eventually “attached” to one or more blog, wich is by default the main blog (even if the main site doesn’t use one).

    As you asked a lot before finding, it would be great to help others by giving the solution you found to solve your problem.

    Forgot custom profile menu plugin and use custom code, as it is much simplier.

    Here another example, with Swap at the first position on the buddybar on profiles.

    function bpfr_swap_luisa_nav() {
    global $bp;

    	$parent_slug = 'swap';
    	$child_slug = 'swap_sub';

    		//Add nav item
    		bp_core_new_nav_item( array(
    			'name' => __( 'Swap' ),
    			'slug' => $parent_slug,
    			'screen_function' => 'bpfr_profile_swap_screen',
    			'position' => 10, // 10 is the first position on buddybar
    			'default_subnav_slug' => $child_slug
    		) );

    		//Add subnav item
    		bp_core_new_subnav_item( array(
    			'name' => __( 'My Swaps' ),
    			'slug' => $child_slug,
    			'parent_url' => $bp->loggedin_user->domain . $parent_slug.'/',
    			'parent_slug' => $parent_slug,
    			'screen_function' => 'bpfr_profile_swap_screen'
    		) );

    	}

    	function bpfr_profile_swap_screen() {
    		add_action( 'bp_template_content', 'bpfr_profile_swap_screen_content' );
    		bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'bp_core_template_plugin', 'members/single/plugins' ) );
    	}

    	function bpfr_profile_swap_screen_content() {
    		do_action( 'my_profile_swap' );
    	}

    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'bpfr_swap_luisa_nav' );

    The following function introduce the content related to Swap. As i ignore how that plugin works, i can’t give you a working example for it. It would be nice to indicate the exact plugin name and upload url. Also is it compatible with BP ?

    function bpex_swap_stuff() {
    ?>
    <h2>Lorem Ipsum for ever !</h2>
    <p>Aenean suscipit nulla in justo. Suspendisse cursus rutrum augue. Nulla tincidunt tincidunt mi. Curabitur iaculis, lorem vel rhoncus faucibus, felis magna fermentum augue, et ultricies lacus lorem varius purus. Curabitur eu amet.</p>
    <?php
    }
    add_action( 'my_profile_swap', 'bpex_swap_stuff' );

    Hi there !

    Avoid to add – URGENT help needed! to topic titles, it is the best way to not receive any help.

    You’re already under help when your topic is posted, so there is no need to ask twice. And this doesn’t bring you faster or more attention.

    The word Urgent is also banned, as urgency is already on the way. Not only for you but for ALL forum users.

    So as usual,

    The urgent is done, the indispensable is under way. For miracles, allow time.

    Please wait and read the codex. BuddyPress. WordPress.

    1)BuddyPress does not work on installations where you give WordPress its own directory.
    2) new users are always registered in the main site
    3) if you allow users to create their own blog, they will appear in the user list of that blog.
    4) multisite network means also that you use a wildcard on your host. Is it the case ?

    Also by default, a field description can only be filled by a site admin, not by suscribers or visitors. But it is to you to know what is harmfull or not when you customize something in your site.

    If you are the only one allowed to create xprofile fields, i doubt that you will voluntary introduce malicious code into your field description… In this case it is certainly harmfull to allow yourself some html tags. 😉

    Please search the forum before asking questions! For ex. “allow html in description”

    Now, it’s me who doesn’t understand ! What do you want to do finally ? What is not working for you ?

    Or try to get some help on the italian WP forum.

    @solomonsun,

    the url you provide doesn’t match! It would be great you indicate existing, or at least, working url’s.

    Check your htaccess, and see why you get an url containing www, while WordPress doesn’t use them by default.

    You could also read here if you’re on a single install.

    And some more details in this tutorial.

    Read here:

    Template Overload from a Plugin

    Here a working example you can study to understand (and use to see how it works)

    function bpfr_post_profile_setup_nav() {
    global $bp;

    	$parent_slug = 'audio';
    	$child_slug = 'posts_sub';
    	$post_count = count_user_posts(  bp_displayed_user_id(), array('post', 'post' ) );

    		//Add nav item with posts count
    		bp_core_new_nav_item( array(
    			'name' => __( 'Audios' ) .'<span>'.$post_count.'</span>',
    			'slug' => $parent_slug,
    			'screen_function' => 'bpfr_profile_post_screen',
    			'position' => 40,
    			'default_subnav_slug' => $child_slug
    		) );

    		//Add subnav item
    		bp_core_new_subnav_item( array(
    			'name' => __( 'My latest audios' ),
    			'slug' => $child_slug,
    			'parent_url' => $bp->loggedin_user->domain . $parent_slug.'/',
    			'parent_slug' => $parent_slug,
    			'screen_function' => 'bpfr_profile_post_screen'
    		) );

    	}

    	function bpfr_profile_post_screen() {
    		add_action( 'bp_template_content', 'bpfr_profile_post_screen_content' );
    		bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'bp_core_template_plugin', 'members/single/plugins' ) );
    	}

    	function bpfr_profile_post_screen_content() {
    		do_action( 'my_profile_post' );
    	}

    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'bpfr_post_profile_setup_nav' );

    And here a content test:

    function luisa_conteni() {
       echo 'Forza BuddyPress';
    }
    add_action( 'my_profile_post', 'luisa_conteni' );

    Add all snippets to bp-custom.php.

    The example use the default plugin template (/members/single/plugin.php) as generally there is no need to create a new template while on a profile (except if you need something very specific like a table or a an iframe).

    Hi @solomonsun,

    what baffles me is that it was working perfectly before.

    This baffles me too, as you don’t say what happened “before”. Before what ? Who could we know that ?!!!

    Do you have a registration page and does that page have a correct slug ? For ex. /registration/ and not /registration-2/
    Have you setup pretty permalinks and resaved them again after the myterious “before action” ?
    Are you logged in when you try to access the registration page ? This is not possible – you must be logged out to access it.

    Hi,

    you certainly know that you use a theme with your BP install. And as any theme user, you know that you can add your own styles to it with help of a child-theme.

    Why do you have a weird output ?
    Because activity content is partially sanitized, and perhaps also, because your theme add some custom styles to blog posts. Do know that, you could test the output of SWA with one of twenty’s theme.

    And in any case, you have to style the output via your child-theme style.css file.

    About image size.
    You’re talking about a “normal rt media” image… Hum, rtmedia is a third party plugin, and not exactly what WordPress use as first to show pictures, or is what impact BP when you display a post excerpt on the SWA.

    You have at least to test WordPress attachments output, then BP, then your theme and eventually any other plugin using images… To do that, you have to adjust correctly your image settings (in WP, BP, theme & plugins…).

    To resume:
    – issue can be solved by using CSS
    – and before using CSS, ensure settings are correctly working on a basic install of WP+BP and a twenty theme. Once all this is ok, you can use your theme and adjust CSS.

    Hi @luisa227,

    considering your questions, i would suggest you read attentively both WP and BP codex.

    – child theme
    – bp-custom

    bp-custom.php goes to wp-content/plugins/ directory, not into the (child)theme folder.

    such path members/single/swap is related to BP legacy by default.

    But as swap is a custom folder, that custom path means in fact wp-content/themes/child-theme/buddypress/members/single/swap.php, where /child-theme/buddypress/contains copies of all your customized legacy files and your own additionnal files you want to use.

    Hopefully reading the codex will help you to understand a little better how all this works together.

    @christiankramer,

    in case you haven’t investigate about that issue, here’s the ticket on BP trac

    and the one on bbPress trac where you can/should post your own remarks as it is not a BuddyPress issue!

    As it has no answer yet, i recommend you to bump that ticket.

    @robdnc,

    could it be that you use php 7.+, and/or bbPress, on your local install ?
    That issue was already reported past month. Please read that topic for details.

    why don’t you use the mentionned plugin ?

    @danbp

    Hi,

    to deactivate a plugin you can use WP’s plugin manager page or to go directly to your files via FTP where you can remove the plugin from the directory wp-content/plugins/your-plugin/

    Those warnings are not obligatory in direct relation with BuddyPress. Why ? Because you’re the only one until today who mention such an issue. I activate and deactivate my BP many times a week and have never get such a warning.

    Try first to deactivate your theme in favor of a twenty theme and see if you continue to receive the messages. If still there, deactivate all your plugins but BP one by one until you find a culprit.

    @danbp

    @igniens,
    sorry youu have troubles with BuddyPress.

    If you expect some usefull help, it would be better you give as first some important details about your installation.

    PHP version, server type, theme name…
    Do you have sme custom code in your theme or in bp-custom.php ?

    Did you followed the instruction you see from the Captcha message showed in your screen shot ?
    Have you setup permalinks and have you save them again ?
    Did you used one of BP’s repair tool ?
    How many groups do you use ? Which group type do you use ? Have you issues with all group activities or only with public groups ?

    Can you see other activities on the Site Activity or on Group Activity ?

    You should also test with a twenty theme, in any case to get sure the basic WP+BP install is working corrently, wihout any other plugin and wp-debug on, of course.

    If you use a cache plugin, clear the cache. Same thing for your browser history…

    Oh, and avoid to write Help in a topic title. You’re already on a help support, no need to rewrite it for your purpose, it doesn’t accelerate anything. 😉

    Hi @froshdimeji,

    the registration process is part of WordPress. Check on the codex or on the wp forum, but i doubt that a phone number can be used instead of an email. Perhaps it can be added to the mandatory username, password and email fields. But sorry, i have never heard about such.

    Note that BP allows you to add fields to the register page, but these fields will never be part of the registration itself. So even if you add an xprofile phone type field, it won’t be considered (as first) as mandatory for registration.

    This is custom work. Nothing like this by default or out of the box, in BuddyPress or bbPress.

    @venutius @henrywright

    The BP_GROUPS_SLUG constant is deprecated, and only used here for backwards compatibility.
    (see here, line 141). This is also mentionned on codex.

    What you can do is to simply modify the page slug. Go to dashboard, Page editor, and quick edit your default Group page, and change the permalink (ie. groups to test) and evtl. the title.

    @danbp

    Participant

    If you consider all your users to have the same ability to publish, you can simply setup WP’s default role from subscriber to author. You don’t need a plugin to do that. To allow categories, search on WP codex, as this has nothing to do with the fact you use BuddyPress.

    For customizing the Howdy menu item, use this custom snipet or take one of the existing plugin to do that.

    @danbp

    BuddyPress’s toolbar menu works like any other toolbar sub-menu item.

    BuddyPress display members, but those members are referenced in WordPress. No idea to share about what you want to do, but have you searched on the plugin repo ?
