In reply to: Groups and Forums
hi @nunolopes99,
This is not an option: to create a forum you must first create a group.
add this to bp-custom.php
In reply to: [Resolved] This topic was modified…Your question is related to bbpress. See their forum.
In reply to: Error while posting updateIndicate WP/BP version, theme, used plugins list please !
All plugins are up to date and functioning very well.
And what if incompatibility between some of them and a theme ? And why do you have an error message in this case ?
You say occurs only to non-admin members(like customers).
Is “customers” a custom role you added, as it is not a WP role.Is the activity component activated ?
The error shows only when no activity_id is found.
Activate debug in wp-config and see the error msg you may receive. In reply to: Show content from external linkWill this work in member activity streams as well?
Probably not, but haven’t tested yet. Historically, Press-it is a bloging tool…
Check eventually BuddyPress Links plugin.
In reply to: Double entriesTo not having a local install. ๐
In reply to: Double entriesI only have the live site โ no local install.
This is weird. Specially if you’re learning BuddyPress.
No idea if it is a bug. But did you read bp-members-classes file ?
See bp_core_signups_add_backcompat function, perhaps you could remove that filter ?In reply to: Double entriesSeems to be spammers, but IMHO, there is another problem if you receive 2 mails for each new user.
Disallow user registration on live site and do some test on a local install before reoppening registry.
Change also your DB tables prefix. Don’t use wp_ ! This will calm down most spammers for a little while.
In reply to: Create custom div around existing divs@tarnvogl,
such customization can be done by using a child-theme and copies of the needed files stored in bp-themes/bp-legacy/buddypress/ to your childRead the template guide for much more details: https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/
In reply to: Show content from external linkNot avaible yet. Will be in WP 4.2 new “press-it”.
Keep in mind that SWA is not an external activity wall or feed, but a site (your site) members activity wall. Searching to publish anything on it is a bit vain.
Some medias can simply be embeded to SWA by copy/pasting, such as tweets, youtube videos or photobucket pictures.
Allowed medias are described here.In reply to: Setting role at registrationmember_typee doesn’t handle roles or capabilities. It’s only (at the moment) a member filter which let you show them by the type they choosed.
BuddyPress doesn’t handle roles and use only thoose coming with WP.
WP Roles at Registration is outdated so it could be possible that he stopped to work with WP 4.+
Have you tested by using 2015 or 2013 theme ? Also deactivate all plugins except BP and WP Role
In reply to: Double entriesplease consider this first.
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/Is the mail issue systematically coming up with each new user ?
What kind of activity is doubled ? All or only topics or other ?In reply to: Registration page is emptycould it be that you have some trashed register pages ? If it is the case, clear trash.
The register should also appear in the BP page list. And allow user to register must be on.Have you tested with 2015 theme and all plugins deactivated ?
In reply to: Profile pages missing contentYou have to test with 2015 theme and any other plugin deactivated. If you use bp-custom.php or custom function, remove them temporatly.
In reply to: Registration page is emptyjumping into others topic is not best practice here.
Also giving some details about your configuration and what you already did to solve the issue may help.Ensure also you followed the install guide correctly.
In reply to: Cannot Access Pending User Page in WPwhen buddypress enabled separately for each site, the error appears.
WP Multisite is not a multi network ! So i guess you have to enable BP on the main site only, not on each site of your network.
As you have a MS install and BP, you now have a network admin. And a normal WP admin for each site, including the main site. At least 2 admin dashboard.
Page not found error on MS is a common issue due to cookies and generally because the site admin is using a user account or logged out for testing something on front-end and omited to close the admin tab in his browser. 99% chance you encountered this situation. ๐
In reply to: Adding favourite posts as a tab in buddypressWhich interface are you meaning ? You already have a My favourite tab when you’re logged in and on the SWA or on your profile.
To add a favorite/unfavorite button under a blog post, add this snippet to bp-custom.php
function get_fav_or_unfav_button_for_post( $post ) { global $bp, $activities_template; // user is not logged ? Show nothing. if ( ! is_user_logged_in() ) { return ''; } $activity_id = bp_activity_get_activity_id( array( 'user_id' => $post->post_author, 'type' => 'new_blog_post', 'component' => 'blogs', 'item_id' => 1, 'secondary_item_id' => $post->ID ) ); if ( ! $activity_id ) { return ''; } bp_has_activities(); // update $activities_template of user's fav $old_value = false; if ( isset( $activities_template->activity->id ) ) { $old_value = $activities_template->activity->id; $activities_template->activity->id = $activity_id; } else { $activities_template->activity = (object) array( 'id' => $activity_id ); } // building the template $code = ''; $code .= '<div class="activity-meta">'."\n"; if ( ! bp_get_activity_is_favorite() ) { // if not favorited, add a fav button $code .= ' <a href="'.bp_get_activity_favorite_link( ).'" class="button fav bp-secondary-action" title="'.__( 'Ajouter ร mes favoris', 'buddypress' ).'">'.__( 'Favori', 'buddypress' ).'</a>'."\n"; } else { // if already favorited, a button to unfav $code .= ' <a href="'.bp_get_activity_unfavorite_link( ).'" class="button unfav bp-secondary-action" title="'.__( 'Retirer de mes favoris', 'buddypress' ).'">'.__( 'Dรฉfavoriser', 'buddypress' ).'</a>'."\n"; // bonus button to show user's all favs $code .= ' <a href="'.bp_loggedin_user_domain() . 'activity/favorites/" class="button unfav bp-secondary-action">'.__( 'Consulter tous mes favoris', 'buddypress' ).'</a>'."\n"; } // closing .activity-meta $code .= '</div>'."\n"; if ( false !== $old_value ) { $activities_template->activity->id = $old_value; } else { $activities_template->activity = null; } return $code; }and this piece of code in your child-theme single.php file. Where exactly depends of the theme you use, but logically near the post, inside div#content
<?php echo get_fav_or_unfav_button_for_post( $post ); ?>In reply to: Different groups for different sitesAs stated on about screen:
Everything in a BuddyPress community revolves around its members.
This means that all BP components are member oriented. BuddyPress Groups are groups of members, not groups entities.
So you cannot do what your example shows with a single install or a multisite install. The only solution i think, is to use a multi network install, but i don’t know if it is possible (i never used such an install) to show all networks activities on a same page.
See if the multi network plugin can help you.
In reply to: [Resolved] Moving a group update in a forum topicTell me that after you’re done, after 10 moving or so ๐
In reply to: Limiting access to backend menuMany solution for this, which is a WordPress question. For ex.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-access-manager/In reply to: Registration page not working (tried EVERYTHING!)This topic is going over this forum scope. Keep in mind whe’re handling BuddyPress related question first.
For MAMP specific questions, please use the appropriate MAMP support.Than you.
In reply to: [Resolved] Moving a group update in a forum topicSee …/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=reply
in the right column, you can manipulate the answer attributes.
You will need the subject and the user ID first. Old school software required: paper and pencilIn reply to: No Notifications For Mentions In CommentsPost comments are outside of the user notification. @mention scope is handling site and user activities. A post is also an activity, but @mention in it is not an activity. It’s just a link to a profile in a post.
When you go to message settings on your profile, you can see the whole items covered by mention and email notification. Blog post are not included.
In reply to: [Resolved] Moving a group update in a forum topicThere is no pre-built solution. But you can do this manually, from the dashboard. Copy the activity content to a topic answer and delete the initial activity.
If you use group forums, a good solution would be to remove the what’s new form from the group template. A radical way to avoid confusion. Of course, not usefull in all case.
A group status/update is stored in bp_activity table
A topic is stored in wp_post table, both with meta registering. In brief, these tables haven’t the same structure and the value is not handled by the same script. To explain why it is not on hand actually. If you have only a few such incident, it will not be difficult to do. If this happens many times a day, it becames fastidious. Educate your user and be patient. ๐
In reply to: Implement new blogs on Main BlogWhat do you mean by “implementing” ? The link shows a blog called Kevin Straw authored by Bill Blake.
– The blog directory shows a list of all blogs: http://my.telegraph.co.uk/blogs/
– Bill’s profile shows his activities: http://my.telegraph.co.uk/members/kevinstraw/blogs/All this is default behaviour of BuddyPress when user blogs are enabled.
What will you “implement” ? ๐
