actually as private messages were not in WordPress, there is no akismet filter on its content, compared to posts and comments… maybe someone can add this to the posting actions ?!… it’s just 2 lines of code.

i suppose with the budget and the time when they opened their service that they use a custom code. btw, wpmu is following general structure protocols, so a lot of other platforms look like it…

this is an easy hacking technique, i’ve done that 3 times yesterday when trying to create users/blogs…

you can delete these users by going in the _signups table… the problem is that WordPress is not taking into consideration the registrations that are not completed, they store them in the signups table and they can not be reached when you check for users… so when a user create an account with a blog, the whole process is created but not verified… you can then visit the site without being logged in and without a trace.

WP 3.0 is different in that technique… but i suppose we could find a tweak right now.

technically, simply duplicate the theme, and change the infos in the style.css … so they do not have the same name… tada, you can customize the one for your other part.

the problem i see with mediawiki is that all the existing platforms already try to have a complete integration with it, and they all fail… i would personally see a different way of thinking… using the default WP editor, which already contain hierachical/historical revisions history of all posts… with that, you simply need to add the proper wiki bbcodes inside the editor, which are available as plugins or can be created, which would simplify the integration…

POEdit for mac is not that buggy… until you decide to edit a .po file… ROFL

a vsp host that takes 9 hours to install any WordPress component is purely incompetent… move your site somewhere else, please…

even some cheap hosting like hostgator are taking max 10 minutes to install the whole thing… they even get free support to help you out.

when you take 9 hours to install a script that is released by millions, you seriously have a lack of knowledge in the web industry.

in the wp-admin, the recent Comments block, each comment url point to the wp-admin/index.php file… no real usage… rofl

the buddypress files have to be uploaded in the wp-content/plugins directory, not the root.

hum, ok, but this topic was posted over and over, and as THIS site is not about bbPress, stressing everybody over and over about it is not really appropriate. If you, personally, need that project to go forward, that’s ok, but please consider putting your energies at the right place…

ask your host to activate ” curl ” on your account… this is what need to be activated to let you go thru the avatar selection .
