In reply to: All pages are blank
Your navigation links need fixing.
For example:
Your Activity link is http://ourworldschools.com/index.php/activity/But the link to the page that shows Activity is:
http://ourworldschools.com/activity/Ditto for Groups and Members.
Fix your links by going to wp-admin > Appearance > Menus
In reply to: Custom alert messages in template_noticesIn reply to: Hiding members page from non-logged in usersHave you tried BP Simple Private ?
You can also get it here: PhiloPress
I would try the WP template file approach.
I haven’t used colorbox for modals.
Why not do yourbp_is_my_profilecheck before yourechoand then use a conditional to load the appropriate template? Meaning you have two templates.
I cannot provide any examples or more info re this issue. In reply to: Site TrackingDid you try un-checking the ‘Blog & Forum Comments’ option
in wp-admin > Settings > BuddyPress > OptionsIn reply to: Levels of privacy in forumsHave you tried asking on the bbPress support forum ?
If that does not work, try using
bp_is_my_profile()in the php for the ajax call.
And then load the appropriate template in the modal.Good point.
Rather than put the conditionals in the php for the modal window, try calling a function from the php for the modal window.
In reply to: Stop redirects without disabling gravatarHave you tried: BP Local Avatars
You can also get it from the WP plugin repo: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-local-avatars/
Try passing the value of bp_is_my_profile() as a var in your ajax call.
That query looks for users whose status is zero, iow. inactive or ‘dead’.
Why do you have so many inactive users on your site?
You could try deleting them or setting that field to 1.Re hosting – you are in a shared environment. Therefore resources are throttled. And queries can take a lot longer in that environment because of that throttling. WPengine can easily host very large BP sites, but not on the cheapest plan.
So, you can clean-up your users and / or increase your hosting resources.

How to overwrite Nouveau template CSS in a child theme

This is the BuddyPress support forum.
Have you tried asking on the bbPress support forum ?In reply to: Sending notifications for multiple field groupsLook thru this BP function:
xprofile_screen_edit_profile()There are 2 hooks you could use:
do_action( 'xprofile_profile_field_data_updated', $field_id, $value );do_action( 'xprofile_updated_profile', bp_displayed_user_id(), $posted_field_ids, $errors, $old_values, $new_values );The first is probably easier because you just have to check for the $field_id that you want.
In reply to: Help! Some members can’t upload avatarsYou could replace this:
($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] != '/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php')With this:
! wp_doing_ajax()Some BP pages load as expected:
http://www.philosophersinamerica.com/activity/
http://www.philosophersinamerica.com/members/Did you follow the documentation?
To determine if the issue is related to your theme, try switching momentarily to a WP theme like 2016 and see if the issues persist.
In reply to: Is there a way to completely disable registering? You can turn off registration.
Head over to Settings » General page in your WordPress admin area. Scroll down to the ‘Membership’ section and uncheck the box next to ‘Anyone can register’ option. In reply to: Buddypress Child Theme override problemsTo determine if it is your theme, try switching momentarily to a WP theme like 2016 and try a BP template overload with that theme.
In reply to: User not setSo the first ones have a “membership level” while the other ones don’t have any.
If the ‘other ones’ do not have an Edit button, then create a free membership level.
In reply to: Hook before friendship request is sentTry
do_action_ref_array( 'friends_friendship_before_save', array( &$this ) );Found in
buddypress\bp-friends\classes\class-bp-friends-friendship.phpIn reply to: No checkboxesUsing a browser inspection tool shows that the checkboxes are there but are not visible, probably due to your theme css.
To confirm, switch momentarily to a WP theme like 2016.You’ll probably need to either change your theme css or add some custom css for BP.
In reply to: Group admin add more adminsGo to a Group Page, then click Manage > Members > Promote
It sounds like Dokan is assigning that role. There is no ‘vendor’ role in BP.
You’re better off asking your question on the Dokan site.In reply to: Adding Buddypress to an existing Site> if that makes sense.
Not really. You can adjust the WP and BP navigation if you have developer skills.
> does someone know how i can contact buddy press directly
This is the support forum for BuddyPress.
It is run by volunteers and there is no guarantee that all questions will be answered to the satisfaction of the poster.
You could also try asking your question on stackoverflow or the WP forums. In reply to: Keep ID of activity update unique?Short answer: no.
In reply to: Database, Storage and File Requirements for ScalingUploaded files are not stored in the database.
Scaling is a complex subject.
You may need a series of changes as your site grows.
iow. there are simple solutions ( such as increasing server resources ) that can get you to 100k users.
That will give you time to explore using more complex solutions like AWS. -
