I’ve often thought about this too, and I think it’s a good idea to submit as an enhancement in the trac. If you’re not familiar with how, I will be happy to do it for you. I’ve also thought that it would be nice to have the ajax highlight the currently selected letter.

The alternative is just clicking the “Members” link again; it’s not all ajaxy, but it’s how I tend to clear the ajax filter.
