ParticipantEvery time I try to enable the BuddyPress support plugin for BBPress I get the following error:
“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare for_buddypress_strip_tags()”
Any idea on what is causing this and how I can fix it?

Participantcheck out the guide at http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/04/30/integrating-buddypress-10-wpmu-and-bbpress/
very simple and straight forward, and it works. make sure you are running bbpress v1 alpha 6

ParticipantAny clue on a fix for the escapes? I’m having the issue in group topic titles. Groups look fine but when you look at the topic in bbPress, there are escapes in the title.
Posting via bbPress it works fine. Posting via groups, the titles get escapes.
Hoping the fix for this can be applied to my issue as well. (using BP1, bbPress alpha6, wpmu 2.7.1)

ParticipantI ticked all the boxes but it still doesn’t work. I don’t understand the part for Secret Key. What they showed was AuthKey, SecuredAuthKey, LoggedInKey and NounceKey. There’s no secret key. Also, I click on Add user database integration settings. However, there is a problem with the prefix. They said that there’s an error there. Why?

ParticipantNice catch! You’re correct. The BuddyPress Support Plugin is still versioned as 1.0-RC1.
I’m use to thinking in terms of file names. In this particular case, buddypress-enable.php. So, I incorrectly made a wrong assumption.
@Ehegwer-
Make sure that you carefully read the installation-readme.txt file included in /buddypress/bp-forums/ folder.
You state that your:
buddypress integration plugin [is] (installed in my-plugins)
This is not the proper location. See Step 6 of installation-readme.txt:
In the bp-forums component there is a /bbpress-plugins/ folder. Copy the ‘buddypress-enable.php’ plugin file from that folder into your bbpress plugins folder (eg domain/bbpress/bb-plugins/)

ParticipantFrom what I can see, the latest BuddyPress Support Plugin for bbpress is still version 1.0-RC1, even in BuddyPress 1.0 (or at least its marked that way).
There is no BuddyPress Support Plugin 1.0.

Participant@Clueless: head on over to your wp-config.php file and comment out or erase the lines that read ‘define(‘…’);’ and save that file. Now log back into your back-end of WPMU and you’ll see that a note is at the top with newly generated values for ALL of these things.
Now take those values and put them back into your wp-config.php file and save. Use those values for the cookies/salts for everything.
Those are the values to use, hope that helps!
May 20, 2009 at 3:21 am #45691JsonB123
ParticipantHmm… I have these same versions and after changing doing the cookie integration and getting everything “set up” I can no longer access the back-end of BBPress. My user is no longer the ‘key master’ or admin for BBPress.
Let me break this down with some more detail, I really want to get this working!

Versions I’m using
- WPMU 2.7.1
- BuddyPress 1.0
- bbpress-1.0-rc-1
Steps
I got WPMU 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0 installed fine so I’ll just skip that part entirely.
- As directed from multiple sources about integrating BBPress, I erased the Authentication Unique Keys from wp-config and then proceeded to log into the WPMU back end where it presented me with newly genereated ones for: ‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘AUTH_KEY’, AUTH_SALT, LOGGED_IN_KEY LOGGED_IN_SALT SECURE_AUTH_KEY, SECURE_AUTH_SALT
- I created a folder named ‘forums’ (I realize that this can be named whatever I want) and put all of the files from the BBPress 1.0 RC-1 in there.
- I went through the install steps, filling out the database info but skipping the ‘Integrate with WordPress’ steps in order to do this later in the BBPress admin panel.
- I get that all set up and go to the BBPress admin panel where I fill out the necessary info for integration with WordPress, sharing the same database, filling out the salts which are the same ones I used in wp-config.
- I put define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/domain/forums/’); into my wp-config file as directed by BBPress instructions.
- I also made sure that the AUTH_KEY, SECURE_AUTH_KEY, and LOGGED_IN_KEY in wp-config.php matched BB_AUTH_KEY, BB_SECURE_AUTH_KEY and BB_LOGGED_IN_KEY in bb-config.php
Now, after doing all that I headed back to the admin panel for BuddyPress and filled out the information for integration with BBPress there. Now, when I go to my BBPress forums page and log in as my admin account on BuddyPress/WPMU I am not the admin on BBPress and thus cannot access the back-end. This isn’t the only problem, although it is the main one. I also cannot get my groups on BuddyPress to generate a forum topic when I try to do so it gives an error and says that it couldn’t.
I am going to attempt again with Trevor’s instructions but there are some fuzzy bits in there so I just want to make sure I’m attempting to do this correctly with the correct versions of WPMU, BuddyPress and BBPress. **Note that I cannot find any of the earlier Alphas on the BBPress site, so if I am using the wrong one…am I S.O.L.?

Inactivehmmm… any ideas?
What tables there should be in the database when using buddypress+wpmu+bbpress?
I noticed that i don’t have any table for bp-forums. It was mentioned in some topic here to check out the bp_forums table (not the same problem as mine though) and I just checked tables and noticed that one is actually missing.
How that can be? I have not deleted it. And forums worked fine some time ago, but now they don’t. Before this problem I was able to create new groups in BP and they was created to bbforums as well. Now I can create new groups too, but bbpress doesn’t find them. I can post a new topic and reply posts in bbpress, but not in BP forums.
If I try to post a new topic or reply I get a red error message: “There was an error posting that topic.”

ParticipantHi Jeff,
Sorry for my absence, it has been a busy few weeks. Susequent to my last post I have installed and reinstalled bbPress several times. Everytime I am able to get integration working fine. Login in both BuddyPress and bbPress is synchronized, posts made in groups show up in bbPress. Posts made in bbPress show up in BuddyPress groups. All copacetic.
The problem is that none of that activity is recorded in the site wide activity widget. Bummer. I have deactivated the forums system for the time being.
I am running WPMu 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0 with bbPress 1.0 alpha 6.
Thanks for your interest.

ParticipantHello!
I’ve just tried this plugin: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=381#post-1515
And it’s actually not working. When I activate the plugin, the group forums disappear in all BP groups.
Moreover, When I check the admin page of each BP groups, I can’t see the “activate forum option” anymore.
I’ve tried to place the plugin in both bb-plugins and my-plugins directories.
I’m using:
WPmu 2.7.1
BP 1.0 (oh yeah!
)bbpress 1.0 alpha 6
Am I the only one having this problem? Maybe the plugin is not working with the last version of BP?
Thanks a lot!!

ParticipantBuddyPress Support Plugin 1.0-RC1
If you are truly using BuddyPress 1.0-RC1, then that is your issue. There have been many bugs fixes and improvements since RC1. It’s time to upgrade to the 1.0 public release and try the process again.
Since RC2, BuddyPress is a single plugin that resides in /wp-content/plugins/. Make sure you follow these revised Installation procedures very carefully.

KeymasterFor the forum, you’d need to investigate phpbb2 importers for bbPress, which is the name of the forum component.
I had a quickish google but I couldn’t find any importers that looked up to date. Do let us know if you find any

‘bbpress phpbb bridge’ or ‘wordpress phpbb bridge’
if exists you could share users with wp and create a new community without loosing the old one
