ParticipantI am testing it, but there are not updates pulled from twitter. Is it because I am testing it on local host?

ParticipantIt has to do with your .htaccess. Are you sure you put the module code listed in the correct file??
There are several other solutions that may fit you. All it takes is some researching

http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/page-not-found-error-404
Also, I went on the site listed, and it seems you did something to change the permalinks. For example, your activity is linked to %site%/wp/activity??
If you changed permalinks, you must update the .htaccess file.

Participant@envira Go into your database, where you host all your files. Find the file: .htaccess.
It should be in the root of your wordpress.
Scroll down to the end of the file and add this:
`LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so`

Participant== Too bad that old theme of BuddyPress isn’t available anymore. ==
Actually, there’s a new child theme of the premium BP framework, BP Mag theme, which has the vertical navbars

Sure it is. All old code is held in trac. you;d have to update it for the latest verison.
like I said in another email, you’re setting a buddypress theme on a subsite – where buddypress is not used. THAT is the issue. you have to strip the BP parts out of a copy fo the theme.

Participantyup fixed some menus atm.
Currently trying to figure out what to do with pages I’ve created and the about page. Those aren’t linking properly yet, but progress is being made!

Too bad that old theme of BuddyPress isn’t available anymore. The look of it was what attracted me to install BP. Will see how far I can modify things to make it look like the old theme.
So far thanks everyone with the advice and help, I’ll let you all know how things go.

ModeratorLove it but I’d suggest taking a similar UI stance as i’ve done with my share it plugin and not have a larger button. Instead have a button that simply says RATE and then a slide down with the info. For one this would keep the activity stream clean.

ParticipantThe plugin most likely works, but weather it works on your server with your existing plugins installed, wp-versions, bp versions.
So you need to test it yourself!

Participant@TheAlchemist if you’re seeing php scripting outputed by the browser then you have possibly left out php tags wrapping the function? depends on how your functions.php is arranged but generally as it tends to contain various disparate functions and snippets of code including markup php tags tend to be opened and closed on a per item basis.
@pcwriter There appears to be a bit of confusion over two separate requirements here; this sniipet of code is quite old and I think was actually written by r-a-y and perhaps ought to have been duly attributed! the function always did work in functions.php quite happily and I’ve been running it since early last year so it’s been around a while, your original request was for the profile tab a component and the ticket you raised for the constant to be defined in functions.php which in theory and practice is impossible as constants are pre-defined set values and have to be set before BP loads thus they can only work in wp-config or bp-custom.January 22, 2011 at 2:59 pm #103589In reply to: Forums Posting Problems: The definitive post

Participant@espeon I’m a forum moderator, what forums have you been frequenting where it’s acceptable to pass a comment like that to regular members let alone a site moderator. Passing comments like that get noticed and you will find that there will an unwillingness to help in future so I would advise against further comments like that as they will not help your case regardless of what may have prompted them.
All said in a very friendly advisory manner my young friend

If you had actually read that codex page in the second link without dismissing it as not what you wanted (what did you want? I suspect what has been offered above!) then you would have noted this line:
We’re going to modify the ‘My Blogs’ menu without changing the core codeOperative words there are “without changing core code”
When you come to a tech forum that offers help you need to bear in mind that the prerequisite to gaining that help is that you demonstrate a willingness to get involved and to be seen to help your self as much as possible; please do not think that on a voluntary help forum that there is any obligation to help people it’s a co-operative process, and attitude of any sorts is never taken well!

You now have a function that looks on the surface to do what you require, and which you now test by adding to your functions file in your theme.
it’s important though that because some code has been provided that this isn’t perceived as the norm or that the forum is a coding service – the provision of code in this manner is up to each and every member to decide if they wish to provide and often it will be but it mustn’t be taken for granted.

Participantwoohoo! that worked for my forums too!
i am one happy camper. now hopefully my forums will stay clean! yay!anyone know the code for profiles? would one just replace “profile” for “group” in the code for forums? thinking that there would be MORE to that, but I’m all ears.

thank you for testing @pcwriter !
