The pages are viewable on IE6 but they look broken, dissordered, use: http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ to test in iexplorer browsers without installing anything.

Who said it does not work it gives 404 must have IE7 and IE6 installed at the same time, and tryied to launch ie6… i guess, that usually does not work… if you want to test iexplore versions INSTALLED at the same time google MULTIPLEIEs application, download it and install it, or just use ttp://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/

    cheers.

Actually, you’re right, as I now see with my latest attempt to install BP has gone relatively smoothly. I have a few issues, however, which maybe you or someone else can assist me with.

First issue: I have two existing members of my wpmu install, both on the main blog, and yet when I installed BP the links to their member pages will not work when I am logged in. The links are correct, in the sense that they point to the appropriate location (e.g url/members/admin/profile) but I get 404s every time. If I am logged out, however, I can find the member pages. Also, when I create a new user, the links work fine when logged in or out.

Second issue: When I created a new user, I made a comment on my site, and then went to check the “activity” stream to see if it showed up, but it doesn’t. Am I missing something? Isn’t this the sort of thing that should show up on activity page?

    Thanks for the input!

    hi

I just checked the demo site of buddypress in IE 6.0. When tried to view the members page, it returns 404 error. In firefox it works perfect.

    E.g http://testbp.org/members/tangledcords/

This link worked in FF but shows 404 error in IE 6

    Hi again. :)

First, one important thing. In the first post I said that the left sidebar does not show anything at all. That is wrong. It shows “Who’s Online,” even if I have just 1 or 30 different widgets enabled in the administration-area.

When I remove the “Recent Blog Posts” widget from the center sidebar, then everything apperas as it should in the left sidebar.

I am using the latest versjon of WPMU, witch would be 2.6.3, and I am using the latest versjon of trunk.

The only changes I made to the theme, was chaning the site logo, witch originally say Buddypress.

I did install Buddypress a couple of days after WPMU was installed, but I can’t seem to understand that that would have anything to do with this Widget.

The problem occurs only when I am using the “Recent Blog Posts” widget in the center sidebar. You can see it all live on this test-site.:

    http://nettby.us

If anyone har the opportunity to check if this is happening in your Buddypress-installation as well, that would be great.

I’m confused as to what isn’t working properly?

The sitewide activity, members, and groups are all widgets which would simply needed to be added to your sidebar. Other than that its as simple as installing BuddyPress and your main site will be maintained while the profiles will assume the new theme.

If you’d like to see a more custom example, check out MMAFrenzy.com where I integrated the profiles into my own design but for basic functionality and maintaining your own theme its just a basic install.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask any questions so I can hopefully clear them up for you.

Using a clean version of the latest trunk from trac.buddypress.org?

I have it setup at MMAFrenzy.com. Only soft-launched at this point while I tie up a few loose ends but it’s going great so far and has customized rather easily.

I’m with Media Temple on the base DV with BuddyPress and its great, plus it easily scales up when your site grows (I currently fluctuate between two plans depending on traffic). MT has all the requirements for BuddyPress and a lot more. I’ve been with them for almost two years, so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

https://buddypress.org/forums/search.php is the correct link for the forum search function. Why it isn’t linked on the forum or in the sidebar I don’t know but that’s where you can access it at.

Did you manually approve the comment? I’ve encountered a bug where BuddyPress says I’ve published a post and/or when really I’ve only approved one from another author.

I’d file a ticket on trac.buddypress.org as this is something I’ve also run into.

Thanks ron_r but I don’t think that link works:

    404: Not Found

Seems as though we couldn't find what you're looking for. You may have come from an old outdated link.

Use the menu above to find your way.

I’m sure google is on this, so we can just google site:buddypress.org

OK. I withdraw my recommendation for Site5. They are no different than other shared hosting and won’t respond well to BuddyPress, based on the warnings I get for my non-BP sites.

    Thanks.!

Don’t ask why I didn’t tried this before I asked. Here in Norway, we are pretty lazy so I think it explains the most. :P

Another option is iMountain (imountain.com). They offer clustered hosting to VPS to dedicated, without cpu processing limits.

@hudatoriq – and it shoudl worry you. On a shared host, you will *always* hit inodes or sql limits before you use up a tenth of bandwidth or space.

yes, I *did* get kicked off shared hosting. This was before buddypress, and I only had a couple hundred users.

If you plan on being any size, get a VPS. We not not recommend shared hosting for WPMU. Add Buddypress to it and you’re adding a lot more processing. Shared hosting will not be able to handle it.
