Hello. Help me friends. (Sorry for my English).
I use WP 4.1 + BuddyPress 2.1.1 + WP Super Cache 1.4.2 with option “Clear all cache files when a post or page is published or updated.” But when the user changes their avatar, the cache is not updated. I do not include option “Don’t cache pages for known users” because of the fact that the site will contain mostly registered users. Thus, the cache is updated after update the page.
Q: how to automatically update Change-Avatar page after changing the avatar?
Or if there is some direct way to clear all cache files after changing the avatar?

I’m pretty inexperienced with web development, and I’m setting up a Buddypress site for the first time. I’m experience all kinds of craziness with usernames that is bound to confuse the users. Here are the problems.

1. On the “Edit User” page, the “Username” field shows the username for the user who is logged in, not for the user whose profile is being edited (with or without Buddypress).

2. At registration, leading, trailing and consecutive spaces in username generate incorrect error message (with or without Buddypress).

3. At registration, some valid WordPress username characters (e.g. ‘_’) generate an error with Buddypress.

4. At registration, single interior spaces in username are removed from username without notice.

5. When ‘-‘, ‘.’, or ‘@’ are used in a username, Buddypress uses an altered version of the username in many situations instead of the real username, even though the registration page specified that usernames can contain these characters. The altered version is formed by removing all ‘@’s and replacing a sequences of ‘-‘s and ‘.’s with a single ‘-‘. For example, when sending messages to a user, you have to type the altered username instead of the real one. URLs contain the altered version. The “Howdy” message contains the altered version. I tried inserting the line define( ‘BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE’, true ); into wp-config.php as suggested at but I didn’t see any effect.

This is a mess. Please help. I would prefer to allow all the characters I can, but if there is a way to fix these problems by forbidding some characters, I would accept it. Also, I can’t find any specification of what WordPress considers to be valid usernames.

I am developing a custom Buddypress theme, and I would like to add navigation in the member directory that mimics the functionality of this page on another site:

Ideally, it would work pretty similarly: the navigation would have a link for each letter of the alphabet, the links would generate bookmarkable urls with query strings, and the member directory would be filtered appropriately at those urls.

Code for the navigation would be something like this:

What would be the most appropriate place to hook into to alter the member query? Again, ideally it would be able to grab the query string from the url to dynamically define the filter.

Right now, there is an XProfile ‘Last Name’ field, which is set up to sync with wp_usermeta#last_name through the plugin, “BP XProfile WordPress User Sync”.

i would like to have some new options in buddypress, but i’am not a php developer. Will be great when will be open a new section in this forum to DONATE some idea to featured options.

For example.
I created a new topic “In search results first see members were recently active and who have a profile avatar, next members without avatar”.

Someone with authors write a price for make this option and interested people DONATE.

When DONATE is 100% authors create this options.

It is possible to create similar section to this forum?

Hello all. The plain old WordPress registration form does not ask for a password. Instead, WordPress emails the person a randomly generated password. However, the Buddypress registration form requires the person enter a password. How can I make Buddypress generate a random password like plain old WordPress does? Thanks.

Hi i am 99 percent sure this is theme specific but im not 100 percent on it so will post this here to make sure, i am using ATAHUALPA theme to design my website and have a very strange problem occur on buddypress only pages, i have posted this on the ATAHUALPA forums too but could someone here give me their 2 cents worth on the matter too? i will post the full post ive wrote on the ATAHUALPA forum below:

I know you are not helping out people unless they are gold members but this isnt really help i need, this is a problem with ATA and wordpress 4.1 with buddypress that needs fixing in general.

As i mentioned to juggledad early last week i have found a problem with wordpress 4.1 and ATA running Buddypress, Now considering that Buddypress is indeed a MAJOR plugin used alongside wordpress i will give you step by step what i have done to make sure it was ATA causing this problem. This means people running Buddypress and ATA are at a security risk if they cannot update wordpress in future.

1. First i have installed WordPress 4.0 and buddypress with no other plugins on fresh databases and ATA newest version and previous versions to make sure everything worked fine on previous versions as well as the newest update (result = everything works as expected)

2. Update to wordpress 4.1 ( the problem mentioned below these steps arises )

3. Fresh install of wordpress 4.1 with fresh database and buddypress + ATA ( Problem still arises )

4. revert back to wordpress 4.0 ( problem goes away )

5. tested all versions of buddypress on wordpress 4.1 + ATA to make sure it wasnt buddypress. (result= still same problem with all versions )

OK so what is this problem? well when updating or installing wordpress 4.1 with ATA and buddypress all comments made sitewide by every user made in blog posts or custom post types shows up under each buddypress pages, so if you have a busy blog and alot of comments by thousands of users under each buddypress related page ATA decides to load every single comment ever made sitewide.

Please see screenshots below to explain, first screenshot show how it is before updating to 4.1 and second and third screenshot show how it is after updating to 4.1.
