There are quite a few questions floating around about the URL structure.
A lot of people are asking if it is possible to separate the profile from the blog. In BuddyPress profiles and blogs are completely seperate.
When a user signs up, they set up their “home base” which is where their profile, a list of their blogs, their wire and so on are stored.
This could be:
http://andy.domain.com OR http://domain.com/andy
Each time they register a new blog, the blog is given its own subdomain or folder, depending on the structure:
http://andysblog.domain.com OR http://domain.com/andysblog
For each blog registered by the user, it is listed on their blogs page on their home base:
http://andy.domain.com/blogs OR http://domain.com/andy/blogs
A few people are wondering if it is possible to change the structure to:
http://domain.com/profile?user=andy
This would fundimentally change the way WPMU works, so it’s not in the best interest of current WPMU users. However, it could easily be possible to set up a redirection from:
http://domain.com/profile?user=username TO http://username.domain.com
I hope this clears up the URL questions.

I’m planning to create a WPMU based social network. But instead of transforming a user blog into a homepage (username.example.com), I simply create a customized home theme that holds most of the social networking part of the site. For example, the user homepage (profile) is located in http://example.com/user/myname.
And I’m interested in using the buddypress components, the private message, the gruops, etc. Is the component flexible enough to be integrated in my site structure?
btw, this is a great project!

Hi, I’ve got a site with more than 200000 users and I’d like to change my site in WordPress Mu + BuddyPress.
I’d like to know if it would be possible to add the following functions:
1) The administrator has to approve pictures
2) Research users online
3) Reserch of a user with precise details..For ex.: Research by the sex male or female, research by age…and so on
4) The administrator has to see the pending users.
5) Divide the user profile from the blog. For ex.:blog : username.domain.com/ – Profile:www.domain.com/profile?id=username
6) Vote the profile
7) Add bodylist and black list.

Topic: Current Plugins?
Is there a list somewhere of plugins other people are currently working on for BuddyPress? BraveNewCode would like to contribute something, and I thought we might take a stab at a user-user chat plugin if no one is working on that yet. I have other cool ideas too if that’s already taken! Thanks.

Is there an official bug repository yet for BuddyPress, or is it too premature yet? I’ve hit a few that I’m sure others have hit as well, but don’t want to divert any attention from anyone if they are captured somewhere already.
What I’d look for in a default theme is not necessarily the styling but the functionality. It should provide all possible features of BuddyPress and be documented reasonably well to make customisation easy. Hardly anyone will use a theme out-of-the box anyway. If anything you wouldn’t want to overload it with too many styles and graphics
.The theme looks nice and goes with the look and feel of the BP profile theme.
By the way, what will the criteria for the active/popular groups and members tabs be?
@MrWiblog – Not sure exactly how the “Hot Posts” will work yet. It was more just an idea. A rating system would be good if there is one out there that would work?
@milo317 – Everything is dynamic, although content will likely be cached to reduce server load.
@wildebees – I think a site wide activity feed shouldn’t be too tough. Every members activity is cached in the DB, so merging those together to produce a site-wide feed should be ok to do.
@Member – Site wide categories and tags would be a big plus. Not sure if that will make it by December though.
@orangeguru/dazednconfused – Some people love padding, others hate it.
Thankfully you can edit the CSS, so it should be fairly simple to tighten up the theme.@exchequer598 – I think someone was working on a BuddyPress video component, but I’m not entirely sure.

.Great work Andy. I remember someone asking for video support. Maybe you can download some free FLV player and brand it ‘BuddyPress Player’ or something and use it for video content throughout the website!

Here’s a mockup of a potential home theme for BuddyPress installs. I’d be interested in hear people’s feedback.
The idea would be for it to consist of a bunch of widgets that could be selectively enabled and moved around. Widgets such as “Members” and “Groups” could dynamically load lists based on the selection of “Newest” or “Popular” etc.
There will dedicated pages for some components, where users can search and browse a directory.

Bare with me for i’m just new in buddypress.
Are there any principle of using multiple server? I mean, does it support multiple server for one domain. And with this options, are the clients can be move from one server to another (for load balance option).
or else Any plan for this?
