ParticipantCouldn’t this be posted on following topic?
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/features-request-classifieds-plugin
I’m not sure if you can get enough response on problems on your own plugin.

I’ve answered your question in this post

ParticipantThat’s the proper attitude!
The forums are their own, separate plugin. I’ve already clearly explained the reasons why this component will not provide bbPress forum privacy filters. You are free to use any bbPress privacy plugins that you want. Perhaps in the future this will change, but right now, it will not be an option.

ParticipantIt’s sad to hear that the forums won’t be part of this. I’ll just keep on allowing no one into the website who isn’t a member. Thanks a lot anyway!

ParticipantHoly crap! I thought that feature wouldn’t be in until some later version. This is great! Core!

ParticipantYep definitely. Unless I’m supposed to upload the contents to that location and not the folder.
Just to be on the safe side, I checked out and downloaded the latest alpha version and used it and I also just upgraded BuddyPress automatically.

ParticipantYou are either using an outdated 3rd-party plugin, a outdated custom theme, or need to update your own custom code to v1.1. The function get_edit_html() has been deprecated.
If you are using a 3rd-party plugin or theme, you should contact the developer and ask when they plan on updating it. If it happens to be the old, xprofile privacy plugin (which depended on that function and a core hack to work), then please read this thread.

ParticipantIt bases on the skeleton component for buddy press that is not compatible with 1.1. Andy said he’ll fixed it: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/bp-11-rc-compatible-with-skeleton-component-122

Participant3) Backup, backup, and backup. Try it, if not working, then return it back.
4) I don’t think there’re posts on the forums. BuddyPress doesn’t have theme options as in other themes. You have to edit it. Use Firefox/Firebug to find what to edit.

KeymasterHave you *got* a http://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/ folder?

KeymasterThis is a WPMU question and you are best off looking on their forums. I think this is a setting in the Site admin panel, though.

KeymasterThere was a bug with WPMU reporting this message, but it still activated the plugin correctly.

ParticipantThanks, Andy. I will try fiddling with this when I have more time. The permissions looked OK, I did think of that–but maybe I’m not looking carefully. The blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/ should be writeable by the webserver, right? (there are over 1000 subdirectories in there–one for each user, I assume?)
But the really troubling thing was the browser crashes. Those were hard to accept.
This is really a big upgrade, I can see–change in the way themes work, avatars, forums. My own fault for trying to push it right away on a live install.
For now I’ve dropped back to 1.0–I have 200 students coming in on Sunday to start playing with the system. Best to play it safe until that’s over with.

ParticipantYou will need to upgrade your themes also… Are you using the bp-sn-parent and bp-default themes?
I think so. They show up in my in WPMU –> BuddyPress –> General Settings as
BuddyPress Default (1.1-rc)
BuddyPress Social Network Parent Theme (1.1-rc)
BuddyPress Default Member Theme (1.1-rc)
I’m currently using the parent theme.
Also when I try to install bbPress by going to http://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/ as indicated in http://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/installation-readme.txt nothing shows up. Is this part of the problem?

ParticipantI am also getting “There was an error when creating the topic” however the topics are being written to the database fine. This only seems to be happening when a group is set to ‘private’ or ‘hidden’.
When the group setting is changed to ‘public’, all of the posts in the database for that group appear and the error is not shown when making new posts.
If the group is public then the forum posts show up in the Forums Directory, if they are private or hidden they do not – which is expected – however the tags for hidden or private posts show up in the ‘forum topic tags list’ – not to serious though.

ParticipantI upgraded to 1.1 and didn’t get any error messages. But when I click on the “Forums” link I get a 404. Trying to post also gets
There was an error when creating the topic
What should I fix?
I should also note that I installed the forums through WPMU’s admin panel through “Forums Setup”, which I’m not sure is the correct way. It went smoothly, but I still don’t get any results.

KeymasterIf you are using 1.1rc or 1.1 trunk, then that should happen automatically for you once you turn on and configure the group forums.
If not, and if you’re using an unmodified version of BuddyPress 1.0, upgrading to 1.1 would be the easiest way.
