ParticipantDedy-
Please read this thread on the most effective way to ask for support: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/have-a-new-issue-then-start-a-new-thread
It may be necessary for you to answer all the questions in the link in that thread, but here are a few to get started:
- Are you using the new default themes that come with BP 1.0.2 or old themes?
- Do you have any plugins (besides BuddyPress) installed in the site with which you have issues?
- Did you reselect the member theme in WPMU’s backend under “BuddyPress > General Settings”?

ParticipantI assume you mean the members’ theme?
BuddyPress use two theme files. Here are the paths to the default theme directories:
Home theme: found in /wp-content/themes/bphome/
Member theme: found in /wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/All the files you need to work with are found in those directories.

KeymasterThis is a big question that will get you a big answer. I’d suggest taking a look around this forum and the bbpress.org forums also, as there are pages and pages of discussion and documentation to help you through this. Many of which are stickies so you can’t miss them.

Manoj has made a BuddyPress style theme that matches the bphome buddypress theme, so that’s something that will help you. I just release the BuddyBar plugin to help get the BuddyBar in the forums area. There’s lots of people contributing.

KeymasterBuddyPress will work for 2.8.1 when 2.8.1 is released, which by that time it will be 2.8.2.

Participantdeleted and re-uploaded the buddypress plugin. I suspect there was a corrupt file or something before.

ParticipantWorking with John and Josh to put up a community based around church/worship multimedia and graphic design. The site is using the basic BP theme for now but we have added BBpress, the WP ecommerce plugin, and next we are working on finding an IM plugin that we can use: http://worshipinhd.com

ParticipantYep, that´s exactly what happened…gee, is there anything about BP that you don´t know ?
The problem now is that I have to review all the themes that I have been through…

ParticipantAre you sure it hasn’t been hijacked by another theme? For instance, let’s say I put a widget in a 3rd column. Then, I switch to a 2 column theme. Everything that was in that 3rd column seems deactivated but really it’s just hiding because it thinks it’s already in use somewhere. But since my 2 col theme doesn’t have that 3rd one, I never see it.
Even if both of the themes are 3 column, if the sidebars are named differently, the widgets get hijacked. If this is the case, you need to go back to the old theme, get the widget out of the sidebar and THEN change to the new theme.

ParticipantMurphy, check out deep integration. I know it’s possible to get your bbpress theme to match your buddypress theme but it’s something I haven’t attempted yet. But a search for something along the lines of “deep integration bbpress buddypress themes” might do the trick.

KeymasterThis theme on buddypress.org website and the forums is not going to be released publicly. There are several posts on the forum stating this, and this answer’s been given several times.
If this situation ever changes, I am sure that we will all find out at the same time – but don’t hold your breath.

ParticipantI would love the theme too. It would be really really cool if bbPress was a plugin. That way you could integrate it with any theme right? How hard would it be to do this?
July 7, 2009 at 6:22 pm #48749In reply to: Fatal error when trying to activate
Jeff Sayre
ParticipantIf you have any other BuddyPress-dependent plugins installed and activated, you must deactivate those before upgrading and reactivating BuddyPress. Once BP is upgraded and reactivated, you can then go back and reactivate the other BP-dependent plugins.
Also, move the default themes outside of /BuddyPress/ before upgrading. Keeping the themes directory within BP should not cause issues in and of itself, but it is a good idea to move it out before reactivating BP.

ParticipantWhen I go to the link you provided, a member theme does show up. It is just not properly formatted.
- Which version of BuddyPress are you running?
- Did you update the default themes when you upgraded BP the last time?
- Or, is this the first time you’ve intsalled BP?

ParticipantAre you sure the themes are in the right place? Your bp-themes folder should be in the wp-content folder.
wp-content >> bp-themes >> bpmember

ParticipantI went over to testbp.org and this issue repros there too. When sending a message to two people where the first one is added to the “to” line using the “send message” button and the second person is added manually, the message only goes to the first.
@JJJ, did you follow exactly the repro steps that I provided?
@Burt, thanks – I used the auto-upgrade and had forgotten the about the theme directory gymnastics that one needs to do at the end of an install.

KeymasterDefinitely not a theme problem…
Something is up with the do_action( ‘template_notices’ ) in /blogs/create.php.
Just tested this on my dev server and it works there… so as long as it works there, I’m not as concerned with my testbox! hehe

ParticipantYeah – I’m back… meh……
Has anyone installed bbpress 1.0 from scratch and got group discussions to work? After another 20 or 30 installs, I’ve decided that there’s gotta be something in alpha 6 that buddypress is looking for. Something that bbpress 1 doesn’t have. I say this because I can get all of this stuff to work together but ONLY if I upgrade from alpha 6. I don’t dare try the RC versions.
When doing the upgrade, the database is updated & gives the following info
Beginning upgrade…
>>> Modifying database: monday3 (localhost)
>>>>>> Table: bb_term_taxonomy
>>>>>>>>> Adding index: taxonomy
>>>>>>>>>>>> Done
Making plugin directory at C:\wamp\www\monday3\forums/my-plugins/: bb_upgrade_1110
Making theme directory at C:\wamp\www\monday3\forums/my-templates/: bb_upgrade_1120Is it something in that update that does it or is there a specific file that’s left over from alpha 6 that has data that buddypress needs? It seems like if I delete the forum files & then upload the new version’s files, it still doesn’t work. But if I just rename the bb-config file & do an overwrite, the upgrade works fine.

KeymasterYay… it only seems to be me!
Going to be great to debug!
I guess I should mention that I’m using a customized version of the bpskeletonmember theme.
I’m going to cross-reference my theme with the official BP member theme and see if it could be a theme issue… although I don’t think it would be a theme issue.

KeymasterAre you sure you’ve cross-checked your BP home header.php with your BP member header.php?
With the exception of a couple of customizations and function calls, they should be almost identical.
