ParticipantJeff,
Argh… I thought that was it!
Unfortunately upgrading to WPMU to 2.7.1 (used the automatic upgrade) didn’t work either. My custom theme has to be missing something… lolI’m going to dig a little deeper and see if I can figure out what’s going on.
In the meantime, if any thoughts pop-up that could allow the default theme to upload avatars on signup, but not on a custom theme… shoot them at me.
Thanks for all your help…
John

KeymasterYou have obviously customised the theme CSS. If you have not changed the HTML or any of the layout CSS, then..
Try disabling all non-BP addons for a test. I see you are running nextgen-gallery (which I have seen cause problems before when attempted to use with BP), piclens, All in one SEO, etc.
If after disabling all those addons (so you only have WPMU+BP running) it still doesn’t work, you could try reverting to the default member theme to see if that works.

ParticipantAuwagner-
I\’m running the latest WPMU (2.7)
Then you’re not running either WPMU 2.7.1-beta1 or -beta2?
If that is the case, then this is the issue. WPMU 2.7.1 has been required since BuddyPress r1303.
Fortunately, you’re in luck! WPMU 2.7.1 was just officially released this afternoon. Read this ( http://ocaoimh.ie/2009/04/21/wordpress-mu-271/ ) and get it here: https://mu.wordpress.org/download/

ParticipantJeff, thanks for responding…
1) Fairly vanilla means i have only buddypress, plus 2 other plugins. I’m running the latest WPMU (2.7)
2) Trunk is 1324
3) bp-events and eg-twitter
4) This was a fresh install of the trunk, so no upgrade. It’s an environment that I created to test things. I have moved over activate, register, plugin-sidebar and plugin-template to my new theme’s home directory, plus the 3 functions in functions.php. Is there anything else I should do for a customized HOME theme?
5) I’ve read them a ridiculous amount of times
changes to htaccess, bp-core-avatars haven’t worked unfortunatelyPermissions are 755 on the blogs.dir folders. I’m just combing through to see if I missed anything. I have deactivated all the plugins and i’m still looking around.

ParticipantSee the other thread on this, but your host is injecting ad code into the loader.php that pulls the stylesheet.

Participantas near as I can tell,
/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/css/loader.php
is not pulling the stylesheet properly. I would guess that the problem is coming from your host, as they are trying to inject an iframe into that page upon execution.

ParticipantWhat version bp? I think I\’ll just put that on a hotkey combo.

Uninstall the blog component if you are talking about the various vertical menu options in the member theme.
Remove the line in the member theme /buddypress-member/header.php that looks like this:
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG ) ) [snip]That\’s line 41 r1360 if you are talking about the header nav items.

ParticipantNo this isn’t solved till we find out what was wrong and how it was fixed.
I’ve spent time on this issue and just blowing it of with ‘I fixed it’ isn’t good enough. I’ve PM’ed stu-art for the source of the problem and the solution.

Inactivethanks for the response downloaded the rc2 update i think and still get this code:
Failed opening required ‘BP_PLUGIN_DIR/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) on activation.
I’m def using the wpmu 2.7.1. is this the correct one yes?

ParticipantI’ve seen reports of this kind of error before and couldn’t figure out why BP_PLUGIN_DIR was not defined when they are running code that looks for it’s existence. Now I think I get it.
April 21, 2009 at 7:26 am #43094In reply to: In trying to open a theme i get this code
Burt Adsit
ParticipantBP_PLUGIN_DIR not being defined is a problem with that particular blog not running bp-core.php code where it’s defined. This is the code that is causing the error:
require ( BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php’ );
BP_PLUGIN_DIR has to be defined before it gets to functions.php. I don’t think they can be running wpmu 2.7.1 beta and bp RC2.
Trying to run your theme on RC1 maybe?

Participantreally thanx Burt. Please Stu-art, try to overwrite your functions.php with the default functions.php of buddy press. I’ve just reuploaded the file, maybe it was corrucpted while zipping or uploading.
