MemberOh. Pooh. Just when I thought I had my site settled. hahaha. Maybe i’ll give myself a week to get up the courage to update Citizen Kane. BTW I “borrowed” the code that puts the login into the sidebar into my first Woo Themes to BP theme conversion and it ALMOST works perfectly.

Moderator@el_terko what ever language you use for your BP install then the mobile theme will use that too.

MemberThat was it!! Thank you.
One little tweak I can’t quite figure out … the login “widget” and the dynamic widgets following are crammed right against each other. Obviously, there’s a minor code I have missed relating to the css. I’m thinking I’ll cheat and just enter some spaces in the sidebar.php like `` just before the dynamic sidebar line.
January 11, 2011 at 3:51 am #102533In reply to: Buddypress.org avatar border css?
Virtuali
ParticipantI tacked this one myself on my site. This is a custom buddypress.org feature, and was all done by using firebug.
The Pointer you see in the borders for the avatars on the profiles is actually a background image, added to the border via CSS.
The Image that buddypress uses is https://buddypress.org/wp-content/themes/buddypress.org/images/av_speech.gif
Now you need to put the proper CSS in your theme’s global css.
`div.activity-avatar {
background: url( images/av_speech.gif ) top right no-repeat;
padding-right: 15px;
overflow: hidden;
width: 50px;
float: left;
margin-right: 10px;
}
div.activity-avatar img.avatar {
border: 4px solid #f0f0f0;
width: 40px;
height: 40px;
}`Now since this is a custom CSS, you will need to tweak the rulesets to match your structure like changing the padding-right to how you like it, but the CSS here is a basic structure and will overall get it how you want it

ParticipantAh, that’s probably it. A div with an id of “sidebar-me” is not defined in your theme’s style.css.
Try changing that line back to `
`
Then wrap just the the login code in ``Should do it.
January 10, 2011 at 10:58 pm #102521In reply to: Remove “Visit” from the admin bar
invisibleland
ParticipantI got this to work PERFECTLY by pasting it in my theme’s “functions.php” file:
`remove_action( “bp_adminbar_menus”, “bp_adminbar_random_menu”, 100 );`
(NOTE: this was mentioned earlier but had single-quotes rather than double-quotes, which didn’t work for me)
PS. The Add All Nav Links to BP Adminbar plugin (or I-have-an-unnecessarily-long-ass-name plugin) removed other links from my page, so that didn’t help.

ParticipantCouple of things: always explain in a tech thread all avenues you have covered and things tried and tested including help from other places, that you had tried for support at Suffusion was great but also I and others weren’t necessarily aware of this?.
I do find it odd that suffusion should present an issue with something so basic and fundamental to BP and not essentially a particularly difficult aspect? but maybe there is a deeper reason that this is an issue.
I was slightly hoping that someone with some experience with Suffusion might have weighed in to help as I feel sure it’s a theme that has been discussed before but can’t recall anyone having quite this issue.

MemberSo the instructions for “automatic conversion” aren’t very thorough cuz I keep discovering pages not listed that need to be manually converted. Registration and activation pages etc.
But here’s a different ? regarding customization. I am trying to get the member profile/login section into the sidebar. http://xtreme.transmutationsciences.com/activity and I have copied some code from another theme and have gotten that section in there. However, as you can see, the subsequent widgets aren’t cooperating and acting as if the login box was right justified.
The original sidebar was:
``
The significant item in the other theme’s code is “
When I copied the new sidebar I originally kept their version of the sidebar hook. But the section did not display. When I substituted “ the section displayed but then I have the alignment problem.
Can anyone diagnose my ineptitude?
Full sidebar code from the theme I an borrowing the code from.
`<a href="”><a class="button logout" href="”>
<?php printf( __( ' You can also create an account.’, ‘buddypress’ ), site_url( BP_REGISTER_SLUG . ‘/’ ) ) ?>
<form name="login-form" id="sidebar-login-form" class="standard-form" action="” method=”post”>
<input type="text" name="log" id="sidebar-user-login" class="input" value="” />
<input type="submit" name="wp-submit" id="sidebar-wp-submit" value="” tabindex=”100″ />

Memberit isnt absolutely needed i just think it’s a great plugin and suffusion was a great theme. the fact i spent so much time on suffusion is what made me reluctant to change theme. but i see options are limited. i do now need to keep the BP as people are use to it now….so i guess my problem is solved.

ParticipantWhy abandoned? Didn’t the owner say he would pick up the bp issues after that?
Buddypress was designed for only one theme to be guaranteed to work on, (or maybe more themes now) but buddypress does not guarantee complete 100% comparability to all themes, you have to make it and tweak it to work on your theme. And some themes just were not built for buddypress, so if buddypress is an absolute need, maybe a theme change wouldn’t hurt.

Memberi think you for that and have been @ the support there as well…i didnt just assume this to be an issue with BP i was coovering all possible realms. when posted this to the support there i recieved this message from the theme creator them self. i dont want i to be assumed that i am throwing this weight on BP.

BP issues are a lot tougher to address for me, because it is a part of a separate plugin, and because I don’t use BP myself. I am currently in the middle of a big release of Suffusion itself and I will pick up BP issues after that.Sorry, but that is the best I can do.
after this message i felt lost or rather abandonded. so i returned to BP just to see if anyone could possibly be of help…i also went to word press forum….now i understand that i have exhausted all my possible areas of help. and still im stuck here….i apologize if this whole thing has become an issue i just wanted you to see i havent just been @ BP for help…..

No idea if this is useful, but I’ll post it for reference.You can remove the meta links and time since in the activity_action via a filter (put the functions in your functions.php of your theme):
function remove_activity_meta( $content ) {
return ”;
}
add_filter( ‘bp_activity_permalink’, ‘remove_activity_meta’ );
add_filter( ‘bp_activity_time_since’, ‘remove_activity_meta’ );
add_filter( ‘bp_activity_delete_link’, ‘remove_activity_meta’ );
How i can remove also a “say:”, “publish new post:” phrases?January 10, 2011 at 1:06 pm #102464In reply to: PLEASE HELP!!! no group creation option in groups

ParticipantYou are using a custom theme as soon as you do that you enter a new realm and need to know what you are doing, this particular theme Suffusion uses a custom menu of some description and BP directory menu items will not be included by default. BP hard codes these menus links in header.php (soon to change to WP nav menus)
You! have to do a little manual work in getting things to work and need to understand how both Suffusion and BP work, this act of trying to get BP to use any old WP theme is not a natural one.
In all honesty you have simply asked this question in entirely the wrong place – and perhaps I should have said this much earlier – The correct place to have addressed these issues would have been to the theme home, Suffusion has it’s own support and if you had asked there would probably have had this wrapped up and solved in no time. Strictly speaking this site supports BP and BP default theme it can’t be expected to support digressions and third party implementations – other than the plugins that have a group support home on the site.
I looked through suffusion support for you and quickly got an impression of what may be wrong however this is not something I ought to be doing for anyone

Participantyeah… this is no issue with bp default theme (except for the fact that if you click “groups” in the “adminbar” you wont see the create group link).
As I’ve said adminbar is irrelevant adminbar does not have links to the groups page it does have a user account list of links and a group option for ‘My Groups’ so what you have is a modification or plugin running.
So the issue is with your child/custom theme Quite what the issue is is hard to say it’s a third party customisation, I would hazard a guess that the groups/index page if one is copied over to you child theme is not complete, running something like the template pack plugin does require additional manual steps and you might need to compare the bp-default groups index file with the one that exists in child theme and ensure that it has this pice of code sitting in the heading tag:

Memberyeah… this is no issue with bp default theme (except for the fact that if you click “groups” in the “adminbar” you wont see the create group link).
so basically i can only use bp with a bp default theme.
everything with BP works fine on my site using my child theme for suffusion except (group creation). using BP default was never an issue i just mention the “admin bar” issu because you suggested i switch theme to bp default.
can you please look @ my site without using the BP default them and see if you can recognize a possible issue.
