In reply to: PLEASE HELP!!! no group creation option in groups
Hugo Ashmore
ParticipantI simply don’t get what you are trying to do here and you seem to be over complicating things.
Simply click the link to ‘groups’ in the main set of menu links this is the groups directory view and on that page should be seen a clickable link ‘create a group’
This isn’t anything to do with adminbar, nor do you access this via a url which actually would be http://example.com/groups/create/
Your bp default theme either shows this or it’s a defective incomplete install your other questions are related to third party plugins and / or themes and at this stage we are simply trying to establish that bp-default works before moving on.

MemberThank you…im sure i tried that and had the same issue with the default bp theme. however, i will go back now and try again.
using the “page theme” plugin can i assign all my BP pages to just the bp default theme. and use suffusion for my site
should i have index.php anywhere in my BP plugin (bp=core, bp-goups etc)

ParticipantPlease follow this step once more: disable whatever child theme is running and activate the bp-default theme from the dashboard/themes page, now running the default buddypress theme you should have a directory named ‘Groups’, on that page is a button next to the primary page heading which creates a new group (assuming that create new groups is enabled in the BP settings in the dashboard – components settings > ‘Let users create, join and participate in groups’).
If not then you have a defective install of the default theme and perhaps need to re-upload a fresh copy.
If you do have the create group button as expected then you have an issue withthe suffusion child theme not set up correctly but this is something that is harder to help with, this support site is primarily support for the core BP app and theme, third party themes and configurations are harder to help with unless someone has direct experience with those custom elements.

MemberHello all, I have been trying for over a month to get my “create a group” button to appear and work. NO LUCK…even with all the help.
if i type the “www.mysite.com/groups” in the address bar i can find this section. however, it is not on my site or groups section.
then in BP compatibility it say – “You may want to add new navigation tabs or links to your theme to link to BuddyPress directory pages. The default set of links are:”
how can i do this?

@mercime
Participant@bropaterno I’m not that well versed with cosmic buddy’s options, but you could save copy of your home.php for file, then copy over the content of your theme’s index.php into home.php and that would be like the blog front page of brobble.com

MemberHello,
I’ve been working all weekend on this one and I just can’t seem to find an answer.*//PROBLEM: Users that have registered but have NOT activated their accounts show on the Group Members page (…/[bpressdirectory]/groups/[groupname]/members/). This occurs due to my BuddyPress Auto Group Join plugin (link below). How can I hide the not-yet-activated members from appearing on the Group Members page?

MemberNope I know its not the theme just because the top navigation bar used to work for my theme when I first installed buddypress. I have had buddypress deactivated for awhile because I had no use for it, I reactivated yesterday and I still couldn’t get the top navigation bar working. Any ideas?

ParticipantPreferably. The theme I am currently using is Cosmic Buddy so where the current content slider (also a widget) is is where I would like to have the blog posts.

MemberEdit. I just removed the following code from ajax.php and the “favorite” button is still there. Why won’t it die?
`break;
case ‘favorites’:
$feed_url = $bp->loggedin_user->domain . BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG . ‘/favorites/feed/’;``* AJAX mark an activity as a favorite */
function bp_dtheme_mark_activity_favorite() {
global $bp;bp_activity_add_user_favorite( $_POST );
_e( ‘Remove Favorite’, ‘buddypress’ );
}
add_action( ‘wp_ajax_activity_mark_fav’, ‘bp_dtheme_mark_activity_favorite’ );/* AJAX mark an activity as not a favorite */
function bp_dtheme_unmark_activity_favorite() {
global $bp;bp_activity_remove_user_favorite( $_POST );
_e( ‘Favorite’, ‘buddypress’ );
}
add_action( ‘wp_ajax_activity_mark_unfav’, ‘bp_dtheme_unmark_activity_favorite’ );

ParticipantLook in members/index.php but make your changes in a child theme (if not sure what a child theme is please check the docs codex of this site for guidance)
How to write this is another matter are you talking about simply adding some markup? then you use elements as you need them firstly ‘p’ elements then a div if necessary to group the paragraphs, more than that it’s not really possible to tell you without more detail.

`Can you test again with no extra plugins on the BP-Default theme, and when you post a new activity stream item? The “new activity stream item” bit is important. Thanks.

Member@djpaul, @boonebgorges, the reason why it’s several weeks into 1.2.7, is because I just set up my wordpress on Thursday. All of this is new to me, and I just installed buddypress. I am using the default theme, with No extra plugins installed just for this problem.
@boonebgorges, do you mean give you the username and psw do all of my sites files? Or SQL?

KeymasterIt looks like you are having a javascript conflict, which is being caused either by your custom theme, or by a plugin. Deactivate plugins other than BP to see if one of them is causing the problem. If not, try switching back to the BuddyPress Default theme to see if your theme is the culprit.

ParticipantI have looked at the instructions also and am lost totally lol
None of my pages are listed properly but are stepped. I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to look at on my themes index and even when I changed the header and footer section on Members it stayed stepped. All the areas are stepped *sigh*
