    Hello,

I was wondering what the title tag should look like for a site running essentially on wordpress posts and pages with buddypress group, forum and member pages.

    My problem is that BuddyPress Seo doesn’t work because my header.php in my main theme file has a title tag that is pretty standard: wp_title();

How do I get my header to call the wordpress page title or buddypress page title depending on what page the user is on? I’m guessing an “if” statement but I don’t have a clue as of how to write this…

Any help would be great ;-)

(Oops – posted this in the wrong place earlier).

Hi all. I have what’s probably a simple problem, but can’t find an answer no matter where I search. I’m perhaps looking in the wrong places…

I’ve set up a social network site in WordPress with BuddyPress Single, not WPMU. (I have no use for blogs or forums, and don’t want the overhead). The problem is that I can’t see how to allow new members to create a Group. I’ve got the ’BuddyPress Restrict Group Creation’ plugin, but don’t see a Mod role to do anything with.

Does the Mod role only appear if you’ve installed BBPress forums? It looks like setting up a Mod role probably won’t give the required permissions, from what I can see via the ’Capability Manager’ plugin.

What I’d like to do is allow new members to create a group, then be ’demoted’ back to a normal member. I don’t mind modifying my theme php files if required,as I’ve already modified the standard BuddyPress theme.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hello,
I have installed Buddypress on my WordPress 2.9.2.
In my blog I use standard WP Cloud Tag widget and some tags in it stopped working.
When users click on them, they are redirected to homepage.

I have reviewed these non-working tags and have come to a conclusion that these are the tags that coincide with the names of Groups.

Example: we have a tag “BandA”, then someone makes a group “BandA” and the tag “BandA” stops working. We also have a tag “BandB” and someone creates a group “BandB fans” and the tag “BandB” works.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Sorry for messy explanation.

Thanks for the reply, I just went into my wp-admin panel and on to Buddypress>General Settings but I do not find any Membership box. Here are the choices available:

Disable BuddyPress to WordPress profile syncing?: Yes No
Hide admin bar for logged out users?: Yes No
Disable avatar uploads? (Gravatars will still work): Yes No
Disable user account deletion?: Yes No
Disable global forum directory?: Yes No
Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?: Yes No
    Default User Avatar

I also tried the other sections under Buddypress, and they don’t seem to be there. Am I missing anything?

    Thanks

ok guys. figured it out. this killed me today. godamighty.

needed somebody to send me link to this resource:

    https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/email-notification-not-working/?topic_page=2&num=15

anyway, there’s some kind of mail issue for ppl hosted at bluehost. you have to get the Mail From plugin:

    http://code.andrewhamilton.net/wordpress/plugins/mail-from/

    and then everything works fine.

just heads up for ppl that have this issue in the future.

i’m doing this in my template in activity/entry.php
My goal is to filter wordpress posts of a particular category so i can grab some post meta data and make some really cool things happen in my activity streams.

Wish i could help out and update the codex but i don’t have the buddypress function knowledge to be an authority there (yet). Just a few snippets/examples in there i think would go a long way to make it all click. I totally understand though that this is a large endeavor to maintain/develop on one path and document/support on another.

@rossagrant if you look in the screen shots of the plugin at the wordpress repository, you’ll see pictures. The karma points should show up right next the the users login name.
It could be another plugin that is interfering, or perhaps you have some special database table names which are not being picked up properly. hmmm. if you can send me information about your install, I can try to help.

Just installed BuddyPress, but I can’t find my registration page

I installed Buddypress latest version on WordPress 2.9.2 and installed it on Hostgator and these work fine on two of my sites. However, I couldn’t find the register page on either. I try typing http://contentsource.us/register or on a fresh WordPress install http://buddypress.caerberu.com/register just to see if it works and still nothing. What am i doing wrong?

    Thanks and best regards

Disable BuddyPress. Do you get any emails from WordPress on itself? e.g. user registration, comment notification, etc.

I don’t have “Network” enable in WordPress 3.0 RC1 and BP 1.2.4.1 – Activity Stream as Front Page is still not working.

What is the best practice to test BP against WP 3.0 RC1 – i thought BP 1.2.4 was published to fix the WP 3.0 issues, or should i use trunk?

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

Try increasing to 64Mb. If this doesn’t seem to make any affect, ask your host to do it for you.

@sbrajesh – I placed your code in my bp-custom.php (should it go in my functions.php?) and I created a new login.php file, but when clicking on “You must be logged in to post a comment.” (“logged in” is a link) I still ended up on the standard wordpress login screen (it even included the redirect back to the post), …/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http… Am I doing something wrong or am I misunderstanding what this code is supposed to do?

@nickhammond can you post what you put into your login.php file on pastebin? I do not 100% understand your response to @jedisthlm

    Thanks for the help,

    Kalman

I have a dynamic J2EE based website and wanted to add Buddypress/wordpress MU features to the same. Would it be possible to share information through an API between the forum/blog buddypress site and existing j2ee site?

With the advent of mobile wordpress app for iphones & android phones etc. I think BP should support XML-RPC Service for core features!

    My English is very poor.
How do I extend WordPress’ oEmbed provider list?

By default, you can only embed content from websites listed on WordPress’ internal whitelist. This is to prevent the embedding of malicious content from untrustworthy websites.
But I would like to add a new web site
    An example http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/lWxjxhVqf9w/
tudou.com in China is the best video sites
Foreign friends, I ask you specifically what to do, very much.

    Hello-

    At this website: http://MRSA30day.com

we are having problems with the log-in URL link in the BP navbar re-directing to the root. This self-hosted WordPress install is in a sub-folder: /newMRSA30day/ and the login needs to be directed accordingly. Which template do I edit to make this change?

Also, I cannot find the default page template file in the buddypress fun folder, even though I know it exists. What is the title?

3rd – how do we remove the comments from the default home page template?

4th – we want members to be able to write their own blogs. Is this possible with the self-hosted version or do we have to use WPMU?

    Thank you,
    Web Weaver

Mainly to allow BuddyPress pages to be put into custom menus and hierarchies like you can do with regular WordPress pages or posts. The change will be invisibile unless you want to set up your site like this, then it will be easy. This site does not run BuddyPress 1.3, it’s too early for that, though I suppose it is possible the code has been backported.

@apeatling Would you answer this /communities/ URL question once and for all please? Thanks.

Hi, I have a fresh install of wordpress 3.0 RC1 multisite and Buddypress. Every time I activate the BP Template Pack I get a Warning and Fatal Error

Warning: require_once(/nfs/c06/h03/mnt/91816/domains/jasonarend.com/html/dev/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /nfs/c06/h03/mnt/91816/domains/jasonarend.com/html/dev/wp-content/plugins/bp-template-pack/bp-template-pack.php on line 32

No upper limit, but you have a memory limit. Read this -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP <- and try setting it to 96Mb.

If the change doesn’t do anything (i..e. the “allowed memory size” is exactly the same in the error message), contact your host and ask them to increase the PHP memory limit for you.

@rossagrant – yes it is not to hard to remove, you should look at my code, find the hook that adds the forum post rating header and TR tag, and remove that action. I believe wordpress has information about removing actions. info on removing actions here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/remove_action.
