ParticipantI’m using mingle but this is in the wordpress admin area so why would the theme matter there?
May 20, 2013 at 6:02 pm #164374In reply to: "Create Group" button hidden by my theme
@mercime
Participantbut I can’t get the “Create Group” button to show
@gebgem the page title is missing as well. Looking at the Sample Page of your site, there was no page title added to the theme’s page.php file at all.BuddyPress will provide another link/way for users to easily create a group/blog via user account menu in admin/toolbar in next version https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/7062 but the page title issue should be fixed by theme developer.

Participant@shanbp … thanks for the link reference. I’m adept at WordPress customization but the missing sidebar was a puzzle.

@mercime
Participant@naturalworldstm BuddyPress uses your theme’s page.php file for Theme Compatibility. If the page title, the_title() , is not within the WordPress Loop, then you won’t see the “Create Blog” nor “Create Group” buttons as well as the Nice Names.

ModeratorTo change the output, use the filter hook in
bp-groups-template.php -> bp_get_groups_pagination_count()return apply_filters( 'bp_get_groups_pagination_count', sprintf( __( 'Viewing group %1$s to %2$s (of %3$s groups)', 'buddypress' ), $from_num, $to_num, $total ) );You can’t override functions unless they are pluggable.

ParticipantHi bb-help, thanks again for your reply, really appreciate it, as i am abit panick.
here the full story,i started off with a buddypress theme and buddypress, I do my development from there to fit my needs, and i install plugin and about to done with my site after several weeks. Well the buddypress folder was renamed to buddypress2 when i first started developing on this site. everything all fine and working well. I then install this plugin = https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/, and then error start appear at the top of my backend and frontend, so i immediately rename this folder in ftp, it got deactivated, but error still shown, then i delete this plugin, error still shown, then i deactivate buddypress, error still shown, deleted buddypress, error still shown, and i also replace functions.php in my wp-includes, and here where i stop. the error was still there.

Participant@asnakea3 @bphelp a good example of BuddyPress working with a WordPress theme is http://testbp.org It’s using the upcoming Twenty Thirteen theme (availabe in WP 3.6 beta 3).
Other examples of BP-powered sites:
https://wordpress.org/showcase/?s=buddypress
http://www.bpinspire.com/I do empathize with your frustration, but this is not the way to go about getting help with your installation issues.
@asnakea3 At this stage, I’d recommend deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and changing to BP Default theme or the Twenty Twelve theme. Clear cache and check registration.May 18, 2013 at 4:37 am #164225In reply to: WP search results page kills BP member widgets
Marj Wyatt
ParticipantI went back to the original answer found here
http://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/wp-search-results-page-kills-bp-member-widgets/At this time, I do have the code working so that a wordpress search doesn’t wipe out buddypress member widgets and all the other functionality works on the members directory page too.
Here was my solution:
In bp-members-template.php, I remarked out lines 305-311 and replaced them withif ( !is_search()&&isset( $_REQUEST['s'] ) && !empty( $_REQUEST['s'] ) ) $search_terms = $_REQUEST['s'];So I’m back to the question/concern of 4 or so hours ago. I don’t feel that modifying core code is ever a good idea. Has anyone come up with a better way to solve this that makes it more durable when plugin updates are applied?

Here’s BuddyPress Follow: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/
Here’s my new scope code again: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/ive-figured-out-how-to-create-a-facebook-style-wall-but/
I should point out that I need a way to apply the scope selectively, rather than universally i.e. I want both a normal site wide activity stream and a Facebook-style wall.

ParticipantDo you really think that I was complaining about buddypress not knowing it works with wordpress. funny. check my website http://www.addisconnect.com when you go to register it never work. you can register if i deactivate buddypress. all i ask is for someone to show me a website that is core scrip build from wordpress + buddypress. let see it please, give me link. I am not the only one complaining about buddypress not working the intire web is. google it, may be those Voltaire work for Facebook not for us. if you put something out there for people to use it then make sure it work, or don’t put it out there and give us a runaround. I use themes, they out there they work, I use plugins they out there and they work, but when it comes to buddypress it never does and it doesn’t seem it did for anyone since everyone is complaining.
don’t use the you are Voltaire excuse for your work failing.May 18, 2013 at 3:30 am #164213In reply to: I want buddypress to prove it

ParticipantI failed to mention BuddyPress is dependent on WordPress. You can’t use BuddyPress without having an installation of WordPress. BuddyPress is a social networking/niche community plugin for WordPress. 🙂

Participant@mahdiar didn’t know wordpress.com was blocked in your country. Found the page.php file for Complete Theme. Please confirm that the source code of your page.php file is the same as the one posted at http://pastebin.com/wnfS1Gky If so, I’m thinking that it’s more likely a plugin conflict – e.g. “javascript to footer” plugin and/or the gallery plugin which might be using an older version of jquery, etc.
Before looking around for other themes, change to Twenty Twelve, a responsive theme which has been tested quite thoroughly with BuddyPress 1.7+. If BuddyPress doesn’t work on Twenty Twelve in your installation, then I doubt BP will work on other WP themes in you server.

ParticipantI mean I can’t browse the link you said .Wordpress.com is filtered in my country .
It was free but now it’s gone !! I don’t know why ?!Thanks mercime. I’m searching for another theme to use instead .
I’d like a responsive theme . I found SimpleCorp by Site5 and it has some problems too !
Do you have any suggestion ?May 17, 2013 at 9:47 am #164145Tammie Lister
ModeratorAre all styles overloading or just some? If just some it could be forcing styles through.
Are you also using BuddyPress 1.7.2 (or 1.7.x)?However, if it’s all then can you check if the theme has this line in it:
add_theme_support( 'buddypress' );If no, then can you try with another theme just to see if it’s Avenue that’s being grumpy? Maybe something like the default WordPress Twenty-Twelve would be a nice test theme.

This thread was out prior to the plugins release but now I actually find BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin by @megainfo a more flexible option because it give users a choice as to who see’s their activity. Check it out:
