1) search here:
http://designm.ag/design/plugins-for-portfolio-sites/
2) craft working
Create a category “portfolio”
Add some custom fields to posts who can contain pictures
and that’s it
and something like this i your template

< ?php $image = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'mini', true); ?>
< ?php $url = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'url', true); ?>
<a href="<?php echo $url; ?>" title="< ?php the_title(); ?>"><img src="<?php echo $image; ?/>" alt="< ?php the_title(); ?>" /></a>

In reply to: Forum – cannot post in old groupsi had the same trouble.
Old table were bb_prefixed
the new table have wp_bb_prefix…
What you can do is to copy the old content into the new tables to have things to work. And to play a little with the “one click” forum intergration. This is even false: it needs 2 clicks.
In reply to: external-group-blogs Plugin update-bug?i experience the same issue… but i also read this on line 19 of the php file
wp_schedule_event( time(), ‘twicedaily’, ‘bp_groupblogs_update_all_feeds’ );
I suppose this means “refresh the output every 12 hours”.
Perhaps try to load a thread that is (surely) hourly updated to view if something changes in your plugin output ?
buddypress 1.1 DB has not the same number of tables as 1.03… hope you made a good dump before you upgrading. Downgrading was not a good idea !
First thing to try when a blank SWA is to reload the WHOLE activity directory content… and to verify that you’re using the good template system for bp 1.1.1 !
If you donwgrade, take care on the db version number in wp1_options table and control also the content of wp_user_meta table !
Forum tables, if i read correctly your post – but i don’t know of a bb1.1.1 so i suppose you speak about buddypress(bp) – have now wp_bb_ prefix…
Old bb forum tables have bb_ prefix… and there activity were not in BP SWA.
When upgrading bp from previous version, old forum tables are not overidden and depending of what you choose during upgrade process for foum – integrated or separated – the new forum tables are created but stays empty – sorry, with only one test content.
The new (BP 1.1) site wide activity use only one activity table.
wp_bp_activity_user_activity_cached
The old system (< 1.1) use 3 tables:
wp_bp_activity_user_activity_cached
wp_bp_activity_user_activity
wp_bp_friends_activity_cached
Also take in mind that sometimes upgrading tooks a while to appear. I don’t know why, but it’s so….
In reply to: Hidden groups and bbpress forumNot exactly the answer but did you read this ?

In reply to: Bug in bp-groups-externalblogs pluginAny idea of how to resolve this ?
In reply to: BuddyPress External Group Blogs PluginPlugin works fine. But a “little” bug occurs on SWA.
Any activity string coming from the plugin and showing in side wide activity could be deleted by visitors or non logged-in users.
The “delete” button is only viewable by roll-over, it takes me a few day to see this bug.
In reply to: How Can I Show the Last 10 Forum Posts on Home.php?Try this plugin (works with 1.1)
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-latest-discussion/
number of post and forums can be set in plugin option
In reply to: Groups and bbpress forumsForums are are now fully integrated and attached to groups that can be created and controlled by any registered user.
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-discussions/buddypress-forum/
By default, there is no need to be registered in a (public) group to post. You must only be on the group page to access to his forum.
If you are admin, you can create a hidden group of course and invite all members you want.
@ The thing is I want a site wide forum like this site has. I you want you have to create it. This iste use a custom page as far as i know.
@ So does that mean I have to create a group and add everyone to it ?
i think you’re going to do things twice if you don’t read this forum first before asking

.
In reply to: Forum at front page?@david lewis
it’s not hard: the plugin still exist.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-latest-discussion/
And works with 1.1 new forum integration. Even if not necessary because latest post appearing in the side wide activity. So the plugin is only interesting if you don’t use SWA or if you use a custom homepage or an external bbpress install…
If you use it, don’t forget to set the right DB table prefix in the plugin option (default is bb_, but now it’s wp_bb_)
select the forum you want to exclude, enter connection infos and that’s it !
Have fun !

it’s better to put such reflections on the trac to ensure a possible correction in next version

In reply to: how do you post on the wire?Do you need to have a forum to be able to post on the wire ?
No, but you have to activate the wire in the wp-admin->buddypress->component settings.
To post a Wire, you have to go to on the profile page of the person or the group you want to send a message.
Click on Wire in the middle menu.
An input box appears at the right where you can type in your message.
Send.
That’s all !
