that’s typical WP stuff. Please read here how you can do that. And here for BP specific items
In reply to: WordPress crash after changing buddypress settingsTry deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If issue is still upcoming, as you use a commercial theme, please go to their official support channel.
We have no access to commercial products, so we can’t know why your theme is not working properly. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.
In reply to: Members LoopHi @nunolopes99,
there is no possibility actually for the template filter to check for multiple criterias.
This must be developed separately. In reply to: WordPress crash after changing buddypress settingsHi @espagna123,
no panic, it’s a common issue. You probably use a custom function or a customised theme containing a php error.
Go simply to your FTP > wp-content > plugins and rename the buddypress folder like this /xxx_buddypress/
If you use bp-custom.php, rename it also.Return to your site admin, deactivate the current theme and activate 2015.
Check that anything is correct, and return to FTP and revert BP’s folder to the correct name.
Than reactivate BuddyPress without forget to check that the needed BP pages exist. In reply to: Restrict posts based on buddypress groupsIn reply to: How to count number of favorites for any activityhi @mahdiar,
of course there is a way ! 😉
Add this to bp-custom.php, and tell us if it is what you needed
function bpfr_fav_count() { // bail if activity component is not used if ( !bp_is_active( 'activity' ) ) { return false; } // action $my_fav_count = bp_activity_get_meta( bp_get_activity_id(), 'favorite_count' ); // formating action result if ( ! empty( $my_fav_count ) ) { $text = sprintf( _n( 'Favorited by %d user.', 'Favorited by %d users.', $my_fav_count, 'text_domain' ), bp_core_number_format( $my_fav_count ) ); } // output echo $text; } add_action( 'bp_activity_entry_meta', 'bpfr_fav_count' );In reply to: Issue on buddypress.org bloghi @pinkishhue,
thank you for reporting this error. cc. @mercime
In reply to: Create BP_Messages_Message objecthi @abhimanyubind,
i’m not developer, but i think th e answer is yes.
For example, to allow admin to receive a copy of messages sent by users
function arc_wp_mail_filter( $args ) { $args['headers'] = 'Bcc: <admin@yoursite.com>'; $new_wp_mail = array( 'to' => $args['to'], 'subject' => $args['subject'], 'message' => $args['message'], 'headers' => $args['headers'], 'attachments' => $args['attachments'] ); return $new_wp_mail; } add_filter( 'wp_mail', 'arc_wp_mail_filter' );Here an old topic with a similar question and answered by our core ninja’s.
Hope this will help you !
In reply to: Slider not working in child buddyboss themeHi @sklemenc,
you use a commercial theme and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.
Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.
In reply to: Forum Root Problem- Only showing partialhi @skwegg,
This issue is not related to BuddyPress.
i would suggest to re-check your forum settings and breadcrumb links. 😉
your_site/forums/ -> Main page, displaying all your forums
your_site/forum/general/ -> General forum -> one of the forums
your_site/forum/general/best-of-steam-greenlight/ -> category of GeneralBreadcrumb link to Forum when in best-of-steam-greenlight
your_site/forum/ this should be /forum/general/See bbpress codex and if you can’t find how and what to do, ask on the bbpress support.
Hi, maybe it’s Wishlist Member plugin wich is not ready for BP 2.2 ? Ask on their support for update or how to fix the issue.
In reply to: site wide activity user wrote a new post ?hi @fuzzielogix,
check your permalinks. You’re using the default option which is the only one you cannot use when BP is installed. Read here.
In reply to: Entry PageOnce BP is installed and you allowed user registration, you have already a register page.
Simply go to dashboard > general > read and select this page as (static)homepage. For the layout, see
and searching for homepage on the forum leads to many result. 😉hi @dzagya,
The new BuddyPress comes with SocialMedia fields encoded into the xProfile, and display with the Base profile fields. Is this gonna require a .php hack? – if so anyone got any tips for me?or does anyone know a good plugin to handle this?BuddyPres hasn’t social fields in the Base xprofile field group. There is only one field which is [username] !
Check one of your plugin or your theme setings. Or maybe a custom function…
Give details. Theme & used plugins for example. In reply to: Buddypress 2.2.0-bp-languages doesn't workThxs @r-a-y, i adopt your plugin ! Though the securest way to keep customisation in place. 😉
In reply to: Creating private sectionHi @mathijs84,
removed resolved, was probably a mistake. 😉
1) see codex for how to set BP and components
2) don’t know exactly what you mean by this. Anyway, this isn’t included and has to be developed by you.
3) BP doesn’t handle doc management. You have to use some specific plugin. Search in the bp plugins on WP repo. In your case i recommend Buddydrive.
4) members are the heart of BP !
5) see 1).In reply to: Buddypress 2.2.0-bp-languages doesn't workguess you’re wrong !
Put your language file here:
/wp-content/languages/buddypress/
And you will not have to worry about upgrades removing your language file./wp-content/languages/buddypress/ is the directory where glotpress uploads the BP translation file.
– when the directory is empty ( a first install for example)
– when the mo file is old
– the file is also checked when you modify your site languageTo test, make main site to english, throw an old BP .mo into that directory
Revert site language to fit this mo and you’re immediatly invited to update your translation. The place to put a custom po/mo is /wp-content/languages/
buddypress.mo in this directory is not overwriten. But it’s unclear to me (for the moment) if this directory is completly overwriten when WP updates ?
But i’m sure it was not the case in the past < BP 1.9/WP 3.9 😉hi @jessiewordpress,
do you use a cache ? If yes, clear it.
In reply to: Media plugin: rtmedia or buddybossmedia ?Yes, It works with multisite but I (@sbrajesh) strongly recommend not activating it network wide. Instead, activate on the main BuddyPress blog. Source.
In other words, you upload the plugin and activate it from the WP plugin admin, not from the network admin.
And MediaPress works on a multisite install: http://bp-fr.net/membres/dan/mediapress/
At least for pictures. As MediaPress is still in beta, thought you can’t expect to have anything to work flawlessly.
It’s not “it doesn’t work” (without giving details), but it works partially. 😉
In reply to: Media plugin: rtmedia or buddybossmedia ?Hi @sbraiden,
if you enter love, apple, pie it’s considered as a list, because words separated by commas are list eleents in form (extended profile fields are in a form). If you enter i love apple pie and muffins, but also spaghetti. it’s mostly not linked, except for one of the words before a ponctuation. Or the first word, or the last word in other case. I’ve never tested this precisely. For the URL not showing, do you use the URL field type ? Have you tried with a single line textarea, just to see if this makes a difference.
Also important to know, when you enter an URL on front-end (field type URL on), you have to enter the full URL, http included. If you enter only http://www.sometinhg or example.com, it’s not valid and will be linked like other words to user profile.
Hi,
The 5 first words in a textarea content are linked by default, as those in any other form items. This is made to let user find others using the same words.
Sounds stupid for a bio or a phone number area, but becames very usefull if you have a custom field City or Hobby.
The good news, is that you can deactivate this, globally or conditionally.
Add this snippet to bp-custom.php or child theme functions.php
This will remove ALL links only.function bpfr_remove_xprofile_links() { remove_filter( 'bp_get_the_profile_field_value', 'xprofile_filter_link_profile_data', 9, 2 ); } add_action('bp_setup_globals', 'bpfr_remove_xprofile_links');In reply to: Spam userSpam bots are clever, that’s it.
In reply to: template helpBuddyPress is only a plugin you can use with almost any correctly formated theme.
See here how you have to do this:

What you want to do is more complicated, and honestly, i’m not the right man to help you for such deep modification. Sorry for that.
