In reply to: Alphabetical Display ProblemIn reply to: How to AJAX refresh on 'load more' activity stream?
sounds more like a conflict with your plugin as a BP issue. I assume you’re using this one, but the free or the pro version ?
Have you asked on the plugin support ?
Have you tested with one of WP’s twenty theme ?
Have PHP errors enabled in wp-config, to get some debug information ?
Have you compared the js files version shipped with this plugin and the existing in your theme/other used plugins ?In reply to: This is why we can't have nice things@netweb, thank you for these explanation Stephen ! 😉
Glad to read some good news around this little problem.
It would also be interesting to get all mods/keymaster reaction around this subject in the next days, or at least a clear reminder on how this support forum should/could be moderated.
I’m also wondering if we could use some interesting plugins now, like buddy-bbPress-Support-Topic by @imath, and automated topic closing after 30 days.

let’s talk together ! 😀In reply to: [Resolved] Custom activity slugThese pages are used internaly and dynamicaly by BP, depending their context. And in this, you preferably won’t to change their slugs.
If you need to add a message on them, you can use one of the do_action hook you’ll find on their respective template. For example, something before the content loop on the profile page:
function bpfr_my_profile_msg() { if( !is_user_logged_in() ) { echo '<div class="my_profile_msg">Hi dude !</div>'; } } add_action( 'bp_before_profile_loop_content', 'bpfr_my_profile_msg' );And to get custom slugs, you have to use the define technique described here:
In reply to: Would that be possible to add more fields to groupsRead here:
or try this plugin (an update is planed… see support first)
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/buddypress-groups-extrasIn reply to: Pagination doesn't work in Group Forumsyour link goes to a 404 error page….
1) if you narrowed down the culprit, the best is to ask for this on their support.
2) another way would be to re-check your forum settings, as explained here, as you use a general forum AND group forums.
3) use the buddypress repair tool
4) have you tested your install with one of WP’s twenty theme (just in case of…)
5) you could also activate debug in your wp-config to se if you get some information.
Miaw ! 😉
In reply to: [Resolved] Activity Feed /RSS FilteringYou’re welcome. 😉
In reply to: [Resolved] Custom activity slugBuddyPress component pages like “activity”, “members”, etc are restricted to internal usage only. These page must stay empty in any case.
Please read here:
Possibly not the best solution, but have you tested this plugin ?
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/username-changerIn reply to: [Resolved] Activity Feed /RSS FilteringGive this a try – add to bp-custom.php or child-theme functions.php
This will show only blog activities on site/user activity & rss page.
function bpfr_filtering_activity( $retval ) { $retval['object'] = 'blogs'; return $retval; } add_filter( 'bp_before_has_activities_parse_args', 'bpfr_filtering_activity' );Codex reference: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/using-bp_parse_args-to-filter-buddypress-template-loops/
In reply to: [Resolved] Photo Profileavatar size are defined in WP settings. And BP use a default size of respectively 50px and 150px.
With some theme, you have to increase these default size.To do so you can add this to your bp-custom or child theme functions.php file.
/* AVATAR MAX CROP SIZING */ define ( 'BP_AVATAR_THUMB_WIDTH', 60 ); define ( 'BP_AVATAR_THUMB_HEIGHT', 60 ); define( 'BP_AVATAR_FULL_WIDTH', 175 ); define( 'BP_AVATAR_FULL_HEIGHT', 175 );You could try 2 exprimental plugins published by @imath to achive your goal. Read details here:
1) http://wptavern.com/experimental-buddypress-plugin-adds-finer-controls-for-public-groups
2) http://wptavern.com/new-plugin-adds-taxonomies-to-buddypress-groups#1 would probably be the nearest, even if the description won’t go to the group activity page 😉
As you know, too much information kill the information.
In reply to: [Resolved] Toolbar and Buttonsfont sizing is somehow user device dependant, so using extended tinyMCE tools to adjust your output is not a good idea for a public forum. This may be good on a blog where you are the only editor, but that is generally not the case on a forum. 😉
The solution is to modify the CSS !
In reply to: Social Icons Profiles BPBoone’s plugin didn’t work anymore correctly with BP 2.1.
Try this instead:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/social-media-link-icons-in-profiles/In reply to: [Resolved] Error 404first of, ensure you correctly downloaded buddypress, than reinstall it.
Then follow the codex, step by step
In reply to: [Resolved] Unable to post in activity streamTry first by modifying the read more params in WordPress settings.
Publishing “post” with help of the “what’s new” form is not really intended to publish long texts. And the read more link will cut it off by default after 150 char or so…
Aside, spam settings are also to be rewieved in your WP settings. By default, any comment text containing more than 2 links are considered as spam.
And depending the theme you use, you have also to check theme’s settings about such params…
In case of, you could try this plugin (but not sure it already works).
If you’re well with PHP, you can also try to play with this.
In reply to: Role "member" doesn't show in list for Add New Userkeymaster and participant are bbpress roles
https://codex.bbpress.org/bbpress-user-roles-and-capabilities/did you created a registration page from within BP settings ?
CSS works, so far i know, by class and ID’s, so you can use it where you want, independantly of any page or region.
FYI, the group listing use the group template. More here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/component/groups/In reply to: This is why we can't have nice things2 is very appropriate: one for a site url, one for a screen shot… or max. 2 spam link 🙂
But for mods (only), it could be more depending the user problem, even if 2 seems to be ok in most case. But the warning msg, what ever the allowed links will be, is important.
I published my answer and…nothing. So i first thinked i did something wrong, before i realized that it could be a new forum setting. Thought other user can think the same.

Basically it’s a css work. See step 7 from that howto.

In reply to: This is why we can't have nice thingsIt seems that some publish rules where changed on the forum too.
I just tried to publish a topic answer containing 3 links, and it wasn’t accepted before i removed one.
This means that from now on, a topic cannot contain more than 2 links.
A warning message to users would be much appreciated, if this new rule is effectively applied.
In reply to: translate BP pages contentPolylang plugin is intended to translate your site content
To translate BuddyPress you have to use the translation support shipped with the plugin (buddypress.pot in bp-languages folder) and create your own version of po/mo files.
Or to get a ready to use BP translation in your language, check out from here
For any hints about translation, or to contribute, see here.In reply to: [Resolved] Notification – what's wrong here?hi @miama,
deactivate the theme and all plugins except buddypress and use one of WP’s default twenty theme to test your install.
In reply to: Removing @mentions from buddypressHi @mmaccou,
The place in the functions.php has no importance. You can also use bp-custom.php to be independant of your theme.
That said, the tip (published 2010) you tried is no more accurate for BP 2.x and/or bbPress.Try this one instead:
/* deactivate @mention - BP 2.0+ & bbpress */ add_filter( 'bp_activity_do_mentions', '__return_false' ); // BP only add_filter( 'bbp_find_mentions', '__return_false' ); //bbPress only
