    @gettingdownunder,

    i’m unable to reproduce your issue. I installed WPJM on my test site(latest BP & bbP, 3rd party theme), activate it and used default settings before saving. Worked like a charm, out of the box !

    The plugin created 3 pages, which i added to my theme. 1 as menu item, the 2 other as sub-menu. If you get a 404 on preview, the page

    For the settings, i disallowed account creation. Visitors must be site members to publish a job. Visitors should also not be able to publish when they’re not logged in.

    Check you have the tree pages, and disallow any thing related to account inside the plugin settings and see what goes on.

    Perhaps you trashed some pages and they are still in trash. Clear it. Pages must be unique.

    there is also a bp-notification folder, where you can find all files related to notification. You can read them to check the used logic. Code is widely commented.

    If you need quick functions informations, you can also visit this site (link goes to “notification” search result), who present a detailed BP code.

    Check also your plugins language files. On your menu they’re 2 items (projects & docs) which are not part of BuddyPress.

    Hi @damian12,

    welcome on BuddyPress Support Forum !

    Once you’re logged in, select a categorie from the left menu column.
    At the bottom of the page, you’ll see the topic editor.

    As you’re new here, please read here first.
    There is also documentation on hand where you can find a lot of information about BP settings and other cool stuff.

    You say nothing about how the administrator will give a score/badge!
    Perhaps you could use one of these plugins ?

    @rblea24,

    sorry, but we can’t assist you as you use a premium theme for which we have no access.
    See if this X support topic can help you.

    @graemebryson5,

    you need a function to fetch the activity_comment type in bp_activity table. For the count itself, we use mysql count. Here it goes:

    function bpfr_get_activities_comment_count() {
         global $wpdb;
         $user_id = bp_displayed_user_id();

    	if ( bp_is_active( 'activity' ) ) {

    	   // DB query
    	   $total = $wpdb->get_var( $wpdb->prepare( "SELECT COUNT(id) FROM {$wpdb->prefix}bp_activity WHERE user_id = '%d' AND type = 'activity_comment'", $user_id ) );

    	   return $total;

    	}
    }

    Now you can echo bpfr_get_activities_comment_count wherever you need it on your profile template.

    Here an example to get it on profile header.

    function bpfr_total_comments() {
       echo 'My comments: '. bpfr_get_activities_comment_count();
    }
    add_filter( 'bp_before_member_header_meta', 'bpfr_total_comments' );

    If you need more member activities counts, try Buddy Member Stats !

    @pckelly123,

    i haven’t used that plugin for a long time, so i can be wrong. But there is, if i remember well, a language file. Open the pot or po file and search for email text. Whith a little chance you can modify it from there. So you aren’t obligated to hack a template or even a core file.

    @maganiza,

    how and when do you generate the field value, if the user can’t edit it ?
    The only place a user can acces a field is on his profile.

    On signup page, only fields who are part of the “Base” field group are shown.
    You can create another field group who will contain the field you want after signup. Then, to enter something to it, the user must go on his profile. But if you disallow edition for that field, it’s quite impossible.

    Before signing in, a user doesn’t exist. He can only fill some registration fields before asking to be a member. Once he is approved, he can access to his profile and fill additionnal fields.

    Aside, is the field value the same for all user ? Perhaps you could add this information differently to profile. Give details please.

    See here anything related to “avatar” inside BuddyPress.

    @gettingdownunder,

    did you asked on WP Job Manager support forum ? If you didn’t receive any response here, it’s probably because you’re on a BuddyPress forum.

    Untill somebody use the same plugin with BP and know also the same issue, it’s better to ask first the authors of the plugin you try to integrate to BP.

    Meanwhile, have you made some tests and tried to debug your install ?

    If you use a third party plugin who adds his own protection rules to a folder, you have to ask on that plugin support.

    Also, i’m wondering why “only logged-in” user can see their avatar and not visitors. There is certainly a setting or a filter in that plugin you could modify.

    FYI, avatars are part of WP core. Group avatar and cover image is a BP feature who use a complete different logic, even if they use the default upload path – which is how WP handles uploads.

    Instead of wasting your time trying to circumvent a default behave, to find an incomplete plugin and another one(!) who can to the missing stuff, stay simple and ask at least the plugin author where your problem comes from.

    Next time you come in for help, please give the context first. Thxs.

    There is a security mod on the server who doesn’t like what’s going on. You have to ask your host about that.

    Enable wp_debug in wp-config.php and see if you get some warnings or notices.

    Also use code button when you insert code and avoid to show your site information on a public forum when you have a security issue.

    I modified your topic accordingly.

    Could it be that your theme has some specific CSS for avatars ?

    > So my question is… is there a way to change the path

    Afaik there is no solution on hand for this. It’s imho not possible.

    Perhaps if you tell us the reason why you want to do this, somebody can give you another solution.

    Be carefull, it’s not recommanded to modify original files as they will be overwritten at next update. And you will have to redo all your customization.

    Prefer best practice and use a child-theme, especially if you modify CSS.

    @danbp

    Profile, groups and cover iages are in a custom path.

    The complete directory when a user uploads an avatar is /wp-content/uploads/avatars/35/ where 35 is the user_id. Same architecture for groups and covers. So each user as only access to his avatar, and each group has only access to his logo or cover.

    Adding avatars in media library is not recommanded, as any author can access to such image. Aside, BP members are usually (except if you have a multi author blog) not going to media library to handle pictures.

    And if you already googled a bit, ie. wordpress+change+avatar+upload+path, you may noticed that they are not much results.

    … and a premium one, so we’re unable to help you for it here, as we have no access to the code.
    Before asking for help on your theme support, activate one of WP’s Twenty theme and ensure you configured BP correctly. Deactivate also all other plugins while testing. Once the install is correctly showed on Twenty, you can activate your theme.

    If something goes wrong after that, you can be sure it’s a theme issue. And if it’s ok, you reactivate plugins one by one. And again, if any issue, you will know if a plugin is failing.

    As i already said: it’s not possible actually.

    Perhaps in BP 2.6 (release: June 22, 2016)… See #6177 for more details.

    Maybe @djpaul can tell you more about this.

    @ineedyou,

    when embeding a video into a blog post, and this video is a file (ie. xyz.mpeg) stored in the media library, WP build a link to this file. You can choose between url to file or url to an attachment.

    The post is published and appears as excerpt in the site activity. The video is not visible and the link is inactive. That is how it is meant to work.

    When you embed a video coming from one of the allowed online services, ie. youtube, WP create an iframe in which you see the video like you could see it on youtube.
    When this type of post is on the site activity page, the video is visible. This video is also visible in the publish screen (in visual mode) of the post. That is how it is meant to work.

    If you publish a BP update via what’s new form and add a, ie. youtube video link, you’ll see the video in the activity stream.

    On admin’s dashboard, the BP activity page doesn’t show the videos. That is how it is meant to work.

    Hope it’s clear. πŸ˜‰

    @sharmavishal,

    hi captain Haddock, i’m not in charge of a plugin list. πŸ™‚ And latest information about this missing page can be found here.

    Actually, the only place to get a list of BP plugins is the WP repository.

    If you don’t want to miss specifically imath’s plugins, you can subscibe to his twitter account(@imath), or for any other plugin author, a solution could be to subscribe to WP plugins feed.
