    Seems not to be a BuddyPress question. BuddyPress doesn’t use categories. Permalink is a WordPress setting.

    Avada is a premium theme framework. We have no acces to his code and can’t help you here. Check Avada support.

    bbPress is a separate plugin. Check bbP support.

    What could i do ?

    – read the documentation
    – review all your settings
    – ask for help on the appropriate support forum.

    Hi,

    have you tested this plugin ?
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-group-email-subscription/

    ADMIN NOTIFICATION Group admins can send out an email to all group members from the group’s admin section. The email will be sent to all group members regardless of subscription status. This feature is helpful to quickly communicate to the whole group, but it should be used with caution.

    My answer was later as your’s.

    – do you use a child-theme ?
    – do you use some cache plugin ?

    I haven’t time to teach you php. But a little tip when you do such things.

    Before to remove code (php or html), try to ADD something to the original code. ie. a simple word who then appear on the template. This can give you an idea from where to start.

    It’s a possibility !
    Personally i wouldn’t remove the action hooks, so they can be used by other plugins or even BP. Who knows ?

    @masoud1111,

    thank you for your appreciation. And sorry for my confusion about setting > general. That’s traditionnally the path used on admin dashboard. In regard of the picture, it’s the mandatory wp registration email field. This part is on your-site/members/USERNAME/settings.

    The template file you can modify is members/single/settings/general.php
    In that file is a form who contains a label and a input type for “email”. To hide, you could add a conditionnal for admin’s only.

    For example, before both label and input lines, add

    <?php if(is_super_admin() ): ?>
       <label>bla
       <input>bla
    <?php endif; ?>

    To be complete, you may want to show message to explain about the email field. In that case, add something like following above:

    <?php if ( !is_super_admin() ) : ?>
    <p>Ask site admin if you want to change your email address.</p>
    <?php endif; ?>

    @5high Yep! You’re right. The form is now build separately. To hide it conditionnaly, it’s much easier as previously.

    What you have to do from now on, is to add a condition on the template part call.

    The form template file is post-form.php (activity/post-form.php)

    On each activity template (swa, members, groups,…), there a call to this file. bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' );

    To solve your problem, you have just to add the condition you want for this call.

    In your case, as you want to disallow the form only on swa and on member’s activity, you modify
    child-theme/buddypress/activity/index.php (site wide activity) and child-theme/buddypress/members/single/activity.php (profile activity)

    For example i hide the form to any user except site admin by using:

    if ( is_user_logged_in() && is_super_admin() )
    	bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' );

    Hope to be clear ! 😉

    Give this a try: (add to bp-custom.php) 1) & 2):

    function bpfr_hide_tabs() {
    global $bp;

    	if ( bp_is_user() && !is_super_admin() ) {
    		bp_core_remove_nav_item( 'notifications' );
    		bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'messages', 'compose' );
    	}

    }
    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'bpfr_hide_tabs', 15 );

    3) With BP and xprofile component activated, a user doesn’t need access to WP dashboard. He can change his profile credentials from front-end.
    Easiest way would be to use this plugin.

    Retrieving them the possibility to change their email is anyway not a good idea. What happen when a user changed from yahoo to gmail, but can’t login because he lost his password ? Where will the new pwd be sent ?

    Perhaps you have also to remove this from the BP usermenu on toolbar ?
    Here’s how you can do it:

    function admin_bar_remove_this(){
    global $wp_admin_bar;
    	$wp_admin_bar->remove_node('my-account-messages-compose');
    }
    add_action('wp_before_admin_bar_render','admin_bar_remove_this');

    Please read here and give at least some details about the theme you use.

    Or better, a valid url to your site. Alternate row color is a theme related question, which can be handled via CSS, but if you don’t tell what theme you use, it’s impossible to guide you more.

    Note also that if you use a premium theme, we have no access to it. In this case, you need to ask on the theme support.

    Right click and select view page source code is enough to find html tags. No need to search in BP’s files. The solution is to use the appropriate id & class. Try to add this CSS to your child-theme styles.css file.

    #item-nav #object-nav ul,
    #item-body #subnav ul {
       list-style-type: none!important;
    }

    It woud be better if you merge your 2 db to the one controlled by WP.
    That said, you can also try to get something (even if not easy), after reading from here.

    That is an old bbPress issue. When you edit a topic, i some case, the topic comes up twice(or more, depending how many edit you made) on the site activity.

    This bug will be corrected in bbP 2.6 (actual version is 2.5.9). See ticket & patch here.
    What you can do immediatly is to modify following file:

    wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/extend/buddypress/activity.php

    Replace code between line 277/279

    $existing = bp_activity_get_specific( array( 'activity_ids' => $activity_id, 'show_hidden' => true, 'spam' => 'all', ) );
    if ( empty( $existing['total'] ) || ( 1 !== (int) $existing['total'] ) )
    return null;

    by

    $existing = new BP_Activity_Activity( $activity_id );
    if ( empty( $existing->component ) ) {
    return null;
    }

    Hi @littlemisslanna,

    can you give more details please ?
    Which type of forum do you use: bbpress as stanalone or group forums ?
    Do you mean “edit” or “publish” ? – it’s not the same thing. They’re no notification when you edit (aka modify) a topic.
    What do you mean by notification ? A private mail or the activity stream information (site, group, profile…) ?

    There is no plugin doing this yet.
    If you want to control profile field content (except name, password, email), put any custom field visibility level to “only me” and disallow user can change field visibility. Both option are on field creation page.

    Now only the concerned new user and a site admin can see the content.

    If site admin is ok with the content, he can change the visibility level to another status.

    Can be fine if you have low registering, but a mess if you have hundreds per day.

    To know if it is the current theme, try with one of the Twenty theme.
    To know if it is a plugin, deactivate all except BP. If no error, reactivate one by one until you find the culprit.

    A good idea would also be to activate wp_debug in wp-config while testing/debuging.

    If this doesn’t work, deactivate and reactivate BP and save your permalinks again.

    i don’t see any issue. Can you give more details about the zoom effect ?
    What do you consider to be wrong ? If possible, provide a screenshot.

    @emeraldcity,

    i suppose you already read the codex, thousand of topics and of course, that you have some php knowledge. 🙂

    Groups
    Add following conditionnal to the what’s new form of the group activity page.

    bp_current_user_can( 'bp_moderate' )

    To do this, you need a child-theme and to overload the template file. The original file is here:
    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/post-form.php
    Copy it to child to get:
    wp-content/themes/child-theme-name/buddypress/activity/post-form.php

    Members
    See if these plugins can be usefull.
    Geo myWP or one or the other of @shanebp ‘s Geo plugins.

    @maganiza,

    it’s possible. I suppose you need a unique code for some later user specific actions. But that code exist nowhere when a user register. What can we do ?

    1) generate a 6 digit code and show it on the register page
    2) asign that code to the user
    3) show the code on his profile

    1 – we use php mt_rand to generate the code and one of the available action hook on the register page for his output. Add this snippet to bp-custom.php

    function bpfr_digit_generator() {
    $num = mt_rand ( 0, 0xffffff );
    $output = sprintf ( "%06x" , $num );

    	echo '<strong>Your personnal code: '. $output .'</strong>';

    }
    add_action( 'bp_after_account_details_fields', 'bpfr_digit_generator' );

    2) create a new xprofile field, call it Personnal Code or whatever. Make it mandatory and asign it the visibility level you want. In field description, ask the user to copy/paste in the code.

    3) as the user entered the code in a xprofile field, you get automagically this field on his profile.

    I’m a bit unsure how to insert this field value in the activation email, or if it’s even possible. Perhaps somebody else can help you. See email on codex.

    A bit raw, but at least you have a start point how to do that.

    Here also another method, you may use if you don’t want the user to copy/paste the code.

    @radair2002,

    nothing out of the box on hand, but what if you make any of the fields with “only me” visibility level as default , for everybody ? If site admin approve the content, he can change the level to something more public.

    For email notification, a solution is given in this topic.

    Perhaps you can also use this plugin, with some custom restriction/adaptation.

    Maintenance mode is related to WP. BuddyPress was updated 24th may and WordPress 6th may.

    Have you tried to debug by deactivating theme and all plugins (except BP) ? Use one of Twenty’s theme for that test and see if the notice remains.

    Read also here to have a global overview of how this notice is coming up.

    Sorry, no, it’s not a perfect solution, just a workaround. Best practice would be to use what is explained here.

    As said previously you cannot change the Name field, and to exclude or modify his description you can’t even (so far i know) modify the default view level (All) for that field.

    So you have to use another CSS trick and perhaps add an “only me” message to the Name field description.

    #field-visibility-settings-toggle-1 {
    display:none!important;
    }
