I’ve put various bbpress pages into my primary menu under the header “Account”. When a user isn’t logged in, these pages disappear and will only reappear on login. I have another page outside of bbpress that I have added to the menu called “My Sharelists” that does not disappear when the other pages do. Instead it will become another top level menu item and throw off the formatting of the header. Is there a way I can link this page to the others so that it will disappear with them?

Perhaps I worded things badly, I have a plugin that can redirect to a login page if a logged out user tries to access something they shouldn’t.
Regardless, any page I put in my primary menu connected to bbpress will disappear when a user is not logged in (this happens with or without the plugin). I’m assuming this is what bbpress does by default, I’m wondering if there is any way to have these pages show up in the menu no matter who is viewing the page.

Those queries are all related to bbPress.
Have you tried posting your issue on the support forums for bbPress?

    Hi,

Recently I’ve started to get huge load spikes when people post comments on my site, resulting from a mysterious flood of connections. Looking at the database connections when this happens, I’m seeing a load of queries related to the activity stream. Can anyone help me to trouble shoot this? Here’s an example of what I’m seeing (there are lots of references to bbpress as well, which I do have on my site, but these queries happened when posting a blog comment):

I think I found the issue. I believe my theme is causing the problem. I’m using Astra 3.6.5. When I entered troubleshooting and used Twenty Twenty with bbPress and BuddyPress, the group forum topics are opening as expected. I also discovered that the WP Admin Dashboard>Appearance>Customize is broken, too. There is some compatibility issue with the latest BuddyPress with the Astra theme.

I’ve opened a ticket with Astra, but wanted to put my discovery here in case anyone else has a similar issue.

    Thanks!

    WordPress 5.8
    BuddyPress 9.0.0
    bbPress 2.6.6
AuthorReady.com (paid member site, so link won’t help much)

I recently installed bbPress and BuddyPress on my existing paid membership website. The forums and groups are part of the membership and not viewable by the public. I created forums and topics for each group; however, when I try to open a topic in the group’s forum, it will display the first topic, regardless of the URL.

For example, if I am on my group’s forum page (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/) I see two forum topics: Beta Readers and General Discussion. When I select Beta Readers (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/topic/action-thriller-beta-readers/), it displays as expected. However, when I click the second topic for General Discussion, the URL is correct (authorready.com/groups/action-thriller/forum/topic/action-thriller-general-discussion/), but it displays the Beta Reader information instead.

I deactivated BuddyPress and the bbPress forums work as intended. The issue is isolated to how they display in the BuddyPress groups. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

    Important followup notes:

-BuddyPress is correctly processing, cropping, and uploading images to WordPress

-These other plugins are also installed in the same server:

BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Field Types: Version 1.1.9

    BuddyPress for Timber: Version 1.1

    BP Better Messages: Version 1.9.8.165

    bbPress: Version 2.6.6

When splitting a forum topic the secondary_item_id value is not updated. I’m not sure if this is the issue > the item_id value is updated with the new id, but the URL will not display the correct new topic name and URL unless the secondary_item_id is correct. When I manually change the secondary_item_id value in my db to the correct new id the topic name and URL display and link correctly in the Activity Stream to the new split topic.

On my site I have a Buddypress / BBPress set-up. Earlier today, I posted a new *Forum* thread, and received a reply via the *Group Activity* feed. The reply, and my reply to the reply, were only posted to group activity, and not to the Forum Thread.

Does anyone know how to either:
    1. Disable the Group Activity Form and / or Replies to Forum Threads via group activities? Or,
    2. Ensure any replies are posted to the Forum thread itself?

    BuddyPress does not include forums.
You are probably using the bbPress plugin which has its own support forums.

I’ve done something, but I don’t know what? I think the slugs for the ‘forum’ page may have had a conflict (there was a warning message, but I changed the names), and I think the tabs went missing after I rebuilt the tables, but the tabs have totally disappeared now, and I don’t know how to get them back.
I uninstalled and deleted/reinstalled bbpress, and it hasn’t brought them back.
I’m really worried that if I delete the Buddypress plugin, I will lose my settings and customer lists of Participants. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

This question is about how compatible plugins are with other plugins.

I was told that the answer to a question would only work for bbPress, and not other forum plugins, but I’m wondering if there are exceptions. For example, there might be something that works for BuddyPress, bbPress, and other forum plugins. If that is the case, people who are using BuddyPress might find this topic useful, if they learn from this topic that they can look in more places to find out what they need. Knowing that it can’t be done this way, if that is the case, might also be useful for them.

What is the best way to find a plugin (or whatever I need, if I don’t already have it) that will make, in my menu, something that has (1) “Topics Started”, (2) “Replies Created”, (3) “Topics Replied To”, and (4) “Subscribed Topics” in a bbPress forum? That information would only be about the user who is logged in. The following link can be used to show three of those four things that I mentioned, and two more that I might also be able to use.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jVBGGAk6rtNQ8LrU6PK6zMrJlYvSYnN5/view?usp=sharing

The following link can be used to show more of the same page.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lwx52HVc_v__yn8rUtuuY-EQW4gPZYP2/view?usp=sharing

Please tell me if there is a way to do it with a widget, so I can compare the menu with a widget. I’d like for the plugin (or whatever it is) to be as simple as possible. I couldn’t find anything at wpbeginner. I found a few plugins that I think could do it, but I couldn’t figure out how reliable and dangerous they are. What specific plugin, pages, or etc. was/were used to create the three things (that I have been describing) specifically in the BuddyPress page (that the two pictures, that the above two links go to, are of), and can it/they be used with bbPress?

Is it easier to do this type of thing with BuddyPress than it is with bbPress?

    Thank you.

I did a EDIT in a FORUM Post but in the ACTIVITY feed it doesn’t change it?
Is there a way to get a edit in BBPRESS to change the ACTIVITY feed on the fly when editing?

BuddyPress does not create forums – use bbPress for that.
And ask bbPress if it can import your existing forums.

Hello, I use buddypress to manage groups, bbpress for the forums and budypress docs.

I have 9 groups, and for each I have a forum, with child forums in there.

When I am in a group, if I click on the forum tab, I land on the forum first level.
And I see the list of the child-forums, then the possibility to create a new topic outiside of the child forums.

I need to disable the possibility to create topics outside the child-forums.

So with bbpress, I can turn the parent-forum as a category, so that no one can create topics outside the childs.

But, then, I loose the link between groups and forums that belongs to them previously, because, they are not forums anymore, but categories.

If someone could help me to achieve this goal, that would be very nice.

    Please
    Caroline

    Hello,

in the bbpress support, someone help me to disable the possibilty to post a topic outside of the child forums of a forum, by turning the parent as a category.

But, the problem is, that now, I can’t select a forum/category as the forum of a group anymore.

    Please could you help me?
I must open the website today

The members loop is not a forum. Forums are added with the bbPress plugin.
Check the bbPress settings for allowed roles. afaik, subscribers are allowed by default.
