In reply to: New install, nothing works!
@mercime
Participant@glepage you can integrate BP into your theme. Install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/ At the bottom of that page you’ll find an example of using the 1st method and two examples of the second method to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress.

ParticipantIt shouldn’t be too hard to adapt your own theme using the buddypress template pack and the codex guide
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/ and https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/ might be useful, particularly if your theme is based on either…
An Alternative to that, and if you aren’t happy with any of the buddypress themes, is to build a child of bp-default. A good place to start is: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

@mercime
ParticipantThis is not a BuddyPress issue then, but a theme issue. If you change to bp-default theme, I gather that the issue will be corrected.
In all probabilty, your theme would need to be updated to be compatible with latest BP/WP versions. You should contact theme author for the free support which should come together with the purchase of a premium theme.

MemberThanks for the suggestion – but unfortunately I still have no buddypress pages found after installing and activating the templates pack plugin and going through the compatibility steps.
I’m using the Salutation theme from ThemeForest which is apparantly already compatible with BuddyPress as well as WordPress anyway. Very confused, as i’ve installed BuddyPress in the past and had no problems – even without installing additional templates. Confused!

Any other suggestions?

ParticipantThanks for looking @DJPaul
I’m using the BP activity plus plugin and trying to adapt it so that on the site wide activity page it displays the image uploaded as a thumb but on the single page of a users activity I want it to display the full size image.
The only way I could think of doing it was using if “/activity/” page do this – elseif “/members/admin/activity/2? do this – else do this.
Am I going about this the wrong way? I’m only looking to change the style of the image to full size for the single page activity the other pages can stay as thumbnails
Really appreciate any help or ideas you might have

ParticipantSo, I’m understanding you to say that I should not upgrade WordPress unless I also upgrade BuddyPress?
OK, less work for now that way – I can spend my time making BuddyPress function as is …
Thanks.

ParticipantHi Stranger. First, congratulations on “integration BP with Minecraft skin system”

Check out BP Skeleton Component plugin as guide – “This plugin is not designed for functional use, it is designed as an educational starting point” https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-skeleton-component/

ParticipantYou need to go through Step 3 of the BP Compatibility process to superimpose your theme’s HTML structure onto the BP template files . I helped someone with the graphene theme a while back. Check if this is still applicable with the current Graphene version https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/

KeymasterHi @mercime–
Thanks for your reply.
Latest versions of BP/WP (3.3.1/1.5.3.1). The problem install is Windows hosted (MAMP install is Linux, of course). New install. I set the db up on the server fresh, and only imported posts to it, not settings. As part of troubleshooting, I imported the server install db into an empty MAMP install, and everything worked fine. It only seems to fail on the Windows server.
Thanks,
-David

ParticipantBuddyPress avatars have always been square since BP alpha version if I remember well

I was going to refer you to @sbrajesh but I see you’ve already posted there http://buddydev.com/buddypress/changing-default-avatar-size-croppedused-by-buddypress/February 12, 2012 at 2:25 pm #129658In reply to: Putting sitewide activity feed inside a shortcode.

Participant@mercime thank you for reply!
– Is it bp-default in the link? (link in the 2nd post in this topic)
– if yes, what version is it and where it can be downloaded?
– was such feature as “Rectangular profile avatar” with resizing for a square thumb in any of bp-default and why it was removed?February 12, 2012 at 11:17 am #129654Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterI’ve seen this before when a theme or another plugin is using the ‘wp_title’ filter in a way that causes it to break in BuddyPress. If you can do a find-in-files, let me know what themes or plugins you have which contain the phrase ‘wp_title’, otherwise let us know which theme and all the plugins you are using.

MemberWell..I have BuddyPress configured and looking ok except for these annoying warning messages on the top of each of my blog posts:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for bp_modify_page_title() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-filters.php on line 270
Warning: Missing argument 3 for bp_modify_page_title() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-filters.php on line 270
I did find someone on the BuddyPress France site who had encountered the same problem and then fixed it:
http://bp-fr.net/groups/utilisation-configuration-optimisation-de-buddypress/forum/topic/message-derreur-affiche-au-dessus-de-chaque-article/But they didn’t post their solution!!!!!!!
Help anyone! Thanks.

@mercime
Participant@janismo please clarify what you mean about
– “this theme”
– “old bp-default” and about
– “number of bp-default from the link”February 12, 2012 at 1:02 am #129651In reply to: New install, nothing works!
@mercime
ParticipantYou need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility to make your WordPress theme compatible with BuddyPress.
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/February 11, 2012 at 11:46 pm #129650@mercime
Participant@fswd wp-config.php along with bb-config.php (group forums installed) should be at the root of where you installed WP/BP.
e.g. Installed WP/BP
– at http://www.yoursite.com/ then wp- and bb-config.php at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-config.php
– at http://buddypress.yoursite.com then at http://subdomain.yoursite.com/wp-config.php
– at http://www.yoursite.com/buddypress/ then at http://www.yoursite.com/buddypress/wp-config.phpFebruary 11, 2012 at 10:09 pm #129646kjblack
MemberThanks for the reply Aces.
Yes that is the theme and I have installed the buddypress template pack and modified the templates indicated by the plugin. I have had success in getting the various pages (i.e. registration, member directory, etc) to now display but have had no luck in removing the above warnings from my blog posts yet.
I will go through the details on the links you provided because they appear to indicate some additional templates. Will let you know how I fare.Thanks again.

ParticipantIs http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma/ the theme you are referring to?
It doesn’t seem to be buddypress compatible out of the box.
Have you installed the buddypress template pack and gone through the process of making it compatible? ie: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/

ParticipantB. Copy sidebar.php and Save As sidebar-buddypress.php
Open up sidebar-buddypress.php and at the top, above all code contained within, add this
`
`Then at the bottom, below all other code, add this:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
[ @erica34 – updated code above to add script required]Save file.
C. Upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/evolution/ at the same directory where your regular header.php and sidebar.php are in
Final note: Copy over the stylesheet modifications to contain some BP elements to your theme’s stylesheet https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ then adjust as needed.
February 11, 2012 at 9:16 pm #129643@mercime
ParticipantTo make your theme compatible with BuddyPress, you only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your evolution theme folder during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your evolution theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. Copy header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
